I just read an article on this couple and several things that stood out: 1. They don’t believe in heating their house in the winter because “it’s an unnecessary indulgence” 2. They let their toddler children as young as 2 play alone outside or be left alone with iPads 3. They believe in hitting as a form of punishment 4. They use their children’s bedroom as an office 5. They have assault rifles in their home offices that aren’t locked away 6. They’re planning on homeschooling their kids and not allowing them to have extracurricular activities or saving money for them to go to college 7. The dad straight up said he doesn’t like babies and “parents” them by giving them iPads 8. They let whatever tenants are staying in the house next door stay there rent free in exchange for watching their kids. This is a true crime story waiting to happen. My heart goes out to these poor kids.

Some of this is good. If you don't live in the Arctic circle, put on a hoodie in the winter and you'll be fine. Anyone who doesn't have an assault rifle ready to respond to attackers hasn't been paying attention to the news for the last decade. Homeschooling is a great way to keep your kids of out public indoctrination centers where they will be White-guilted and taught that gender is based on feelings (rather than chromosomes). Now that the left wing lunacy has somehow become publicly acceptable to spew, you really have to be careful who is around your kids. However, if you don't like babies DON'T HAVE BABIES. DON'T LET UNVETTED PEOPLE AROUND YOUR KIDS. DON'T BREED SCREEN ZOMBIES. ugh.

Any parent will tell you. You can plan all you want but your kids will be their own individual. Also kids never do well when they are forced into doing something they don’t want to do. Infants and toddlers require a considerably longer period of sleep, and more frequent sleep because their bodies are developing rapidly. I taught gifted ( middle and Jr. High School ) students for 15 years. Some grow up to do fantastic things. Some grow up to do what makes them happy. Some follow in their parents’ footsteps. Some take time off to have a family/children before moving on to other pursuits. Some never have any motivation to do anything much at all. What I have seen that really seems to determine whether gifted children are successful in life, as we in the U.S. define success, is that they are highly motivated, highly intelligent, not just creative but they actually have high IQs in the 96 percentile or above range, and they have a great deal of emotional intelligence--they know how to get along with many different kinds of people. It also doesn’t hurt if they know the right people in life/their chosen field.

One thing worth mentioning: they were criticized as "hipster eugenicists," and their immediate response was "Let's print new business cards that say HIPSTER EUGENICIST." Chapo did an..."analysis" of these same people a while back. I'm very proud of Dr Grande for so professionally and politely exposing their petty megalomania, as well as the way they've turned naming your children into a novel form of child abuse.

Frank Zappa is actually the guy who started naming his children with this type of unusual names. His daughter was named Moon Unit Zappa in 1967. His kids have succeeded but I suspect most of these kids with interesting names might not do as well.

@@cifey I'm not going to defend fucking blanket, but my issue is not with names that are uncommon or culturally novel. MY name is fucking Annushka. My issue is; they're pseudo-ancient Roman names, picked by wealthy silicon valley elitists for the explicit reason that they are "defeminizing," and also probably because they conjur an air of dominance, might-is-right, and all the glorification of a culture renowned for slavery, human blood sport, and corrupt syphilitic kings. It's directly connected to that stupid culture of dudes like Elon Musk who say they think about Ancient Rome all day because they're soft and insecure and think it makes them look butch. It's super try-hard, just like the kid's names, and that's precisely what makes them embarrassing and laughable.

@@sharonhoyt2133 I don't know that he's the first person to intentionally pick a whimsical conversation-piece of a name for their kid, but...yeah, Moon-Unit is an odd name and I have no idea what, if any significance it has to him or his family. I suspect it's a bit pretentious, but not as pretentious as the celeb-nepo names that came after, and nowhere NEAR as pretentious, desperate (and also kinda maybe toxic) as the names chosen by birth-ratalists.
