Hi Michael! Thanks for another great video. Here is my essay. It would be great, to get some advises :) The article and the lecture are both about the quick declined syndrome (QDS), which is a bacterium that destroys olive trees. The author explains three effective ways to protect the olive trees from QDS. On the other side, the lecturer analyses these prevention methods by integrating important drawbacks. First, the author mentions the importance that farmers should regularly inspect the trees for signs of disease, like yellowing leaves, slow growth, and dying branches. These can be indicators for the QDS. If one of the trees has been infected, it is important to remove the tree to prevent other trees of the bacterium. In contrast, the lecturer argues that these prevention methods are limited. Control is a heavily expensive package for farmers. Secondly, the author mentions that trees in good health are more sustainable and better equipped to resist infections. He mentions the importance of trimming and irrigation to get the trees in a good and healthy shape. The lecturer argues that, despite these promoting methods, it isn’t guaranteed that the healthy trees will get infected. Furthermore, it is heavily expensive for farm owners to cut all trees several times per year. Finally, the author maintains that another method for preventing the olive trees is to reduce populations of insects by using chemical insecticides. Moreover, an additional strategy can be to introduce natural predators of the insects, like wasps and lacewings. In contrast, the lecturer argues that firstly, chemicals are a good way to reduce the insect population. But after time, insects could become resistant. In addition, the integration of natural predators is a method, which cannot be controlled by farmers.

Hello Michael, thanks for sharing your videos. It is my response, but my essay is about different topic I hope you will evaluate it. The reading and listening both discuss about renowned navigator Brendan's journey to North America. While the author of the article argues that various theories have been proposed regarding to arrival of Brendan, the lecturer disputes the claims mentioned in the article, asserting that the proposed evidence demonstrates lack of accuracy. According to the author, stories point Brendan and his men visited some islands during their journey such as Faroe and Iceland. The lecturer challenges this argument, claiming that stories can not be exact resources to indicate the location he traveled. For example, islands of sheep are referred to as Faroe because sheep are raised, however, the lecture counters that sheep could be found everywhere. the term "burning hell" points to active volcanoes in Iceland, but it could be a hell with many sets of fires, which alternatively depicts inaccuracies in pinpoint locations. Secondly, the author suggests that a copy of the boat built in ancient Method to indicate the apparatus of Brendan was sufficient to travel across North America. The lecturer, however, asserts that the boat doesn't appear exactly like an old Irish boat because it exceeds the length than ancient boats, which were used for traveling, although the boat persists an 8000 KM journey, it doesn't pronounce Brendan's boats do similar. finally, it is noted that some markings have connected to Brendan and his crew in many places in North America. In contrast, the lecturer's stance is that the symbols might resemble the old ogham letters, but the ogham doesn't consist of pictures such as the sun, hands, and trees that were carved on stones and annihilate the connection of Irish symbols. Moreover, the cutting in stones indicates native Americans' marks.

Hi Michael!! Article and the lecture are both presumably about QDS, quick decline syndrome. Author claimed about three effective ways: detection at early stage, promote tree health and resist by chemical insecticides, to absolutely overlap diseases. But professor disagree with author claims. His opinion is that it might have any drop bags. First of all, according to passage, detection at early stage helps to definitely prevent disease from spreading. If tree show any sigh of infection, such yellowing leaves and slow growth, it should be immediately removed. Moreover, government has to broaden their responsibility to routinely encourage farmers to do best of their work. This argument challenged by professor. His put forth the idea that early detection has several processes which would be expensive and time consuming process. Furthermore, professor claimed that sign of infection would not be immediately appear at early stage of growing. Secondly, author emphasized that promoting health of trees another best ways to prevent diseases. Proper irrigation, fertilization and trimming help trees to grow health which subsequently prevent the widespread of infection. In contrast, lecturer construed those essential parts, such irrigation, could not guarantee overall protection. Professor figured out that this way might not be perfect. Finally, author put forth the idea that chemical insecticides are helpful to maintain detrimental insects’ population. Purposefully spraying them to areas that insects appear could exclusively help to halt population. Moreover, introducing insects’ predators, such as ladybugs another ways to reduce insects. In contrast, professor notes that after large numbers of spraying, insects would able to swiftly adapt to those conditions and would not feel any insecticides. Meanwhile, vastly increasing insects predators are arduous process, which could not be utilized properly. Coherently ladybugs have a big chance to fly away to those areas that they are not needed.

Hi, Michael! Thanks for another video and this opportunity. Here's my essay: The passage provides several ways how to fight quick decline syndrome, a disease that affects olive trees and that is caused by bacteria. In the lecture it is said why these ways are not effective. The first method proposed in the passage is to inspect trees for ealy signs of the disease and burn the ones that have shown such signs in order to prevent the bacteria causing QDS from infecting healthy trees. However it is pointed out in the lecture that it is fairly time-consuming to inspect all trees regularly, especially in large groves. Moreover early signs are not easily detected making this method unreliable. The next method suggested in the passage is that trees have to be maintained in good condition by means of proper irrigation, fertilization and removal of dry branches. The lecturer doubts this method stating that despite the fact that strong trees seem to resist the deases better, it does not guarantee protection. It is also very expensive for farmers to buy saplings with genetic resistance to the disease. The last method discussed in the passage is using chemical insecticides, but according to the lecture they are effective only during a limited period of time because sap-sucking instects that transmit the bacteria adapt to them. Another way of destroying the insects proposed in the passage is using insects that are natural predators of the disease-transmitting insects, however it is said in the lecture that this way hasn’t proved efficient because predator insects may fly away. Looking forward to your comment, Ekaterina

I don't really like "it is said why these ways are not effective." That just sounds unidiomatic to me. I would say "in the lecturer, these methods are challenged." Stick a comma after "however" when it begins a sentence. And the same after "moreover" when it begins a sentence. I am a bit worried about the brevity of your reading summaries. I would love to see one more sentence about the reading SOMEWHERE in the essay. Overall, I think this one would score about 24 points.

Thanks for the video, here's my response: The reading introduces the topic of quick decline syndrome (QDS) which is a disease that affects olive trees and causes them to become threatened. While the author of the reading states three ways to preserve olive trees from this disease, the lecturer disagrees and attacks each of the methods mentioned in the reading. To begin with, the writer puts forth the idea that diagnosing the trees in earlier stages can keep the disease away from the trees. This specific argument is challenged by the professor. He is of the opinion that this needs heavy thorough inspections and requires a lot of money. Moreover, he discusses how symptoms of QDS aren't highly visible which make them hard to detect. Secondly, the author posits that taking care of the trees' general health can drastically decrease their chance of getting the disease. For example, trimming and watering of the plants. The speaker casts doubt on this statement and believes that proper irrigation and other steps that the reading passage claims to prevent the disease can, in fact, promote the health of trees. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's a way of protecting them from getting infected. In addition, plant saplings that are proposed in the passage are highly expensive. Finally, the article posits the idea that decreasing the number of bugs that are responsible for spreading the bacteria like spittlebug, is vital in lowering the chance of trees getting the disease. Furthermore, it's noted that adding populations of predators of the insects, such as ladybugs, and spraying the field of trees with insecticides are additional ways to prevent QDS. The lecturer believes there are flaws in the author’s argument. He feels that the insects will easily become resistant to insecticides. In addition, predators that are released will simply fly away to other areas. So, to sum up, both the writer and the lecturer are passionate about their views on methods to prevent QDS and disagree with each other on every point.

The reading and the lecture are both about olive trees about which both hold opposite ideas. The reading mentions three ways which can preserve olive trees from bactria; while, the lecturer stats that the ways which are suggested in the reading are not helpful. The reading claims that the farmers have to cut the trees which have marks of diseases because they will transmit their illness to other trees. Whereas, the lecturer posits that it is acceptable that by removing ill trees we can keep save other trees. But this process is time taking, and costly. Therefore, removing ill trees is not an effective way. The reading tells that those trees which are healthy, have more chance to survive, and defeat desease. Farmers should use fertilizer, and sufficient water for trees in order to make them heathy. In contrast, the lecturer says that it is true that healthier trees have more apportunity to survive. But it is not a complete method. Moreover, farmers have to irrigate them anytime, so it become so expensive for them. The reading mentions that bactria is conveied by insects which are traveling, and setting on trees. Farmers can use chemicals which make trees able to remove insects. On the other hand, the lecturer posits that though this strategy looks good, it is not helpful for long time. Insects become adopted to these chemicals, and continuou to live over trees which have chemical.

Hi, thanks for the video, it's really helpful! Below is my answer, I'm appreciate if you could give me some suggestions! Both the reading passage and the lecture mainly discuss the disease, QDS, of olive trees in the Mediterranean area. While the reading passage provides three prosperous approaches to address the issue and protect the trees, the lecturer agrees with none of them. On the other hand, he states the limitations of each strategy. To begin with, early detection to spot the signs of infection and remove the ill tree as soon as possible to prevent the illness from spreading from it to another tree is crucial. However, the professor argues by providing two insights. One is that the inspection has to be conducted frequently, causing a large amount of money. Another is that it's not easy to tell the symptoms in the early stage of the disease. As a result, when the farmer cuts down the victim tree, the disease has already been spread out. Secondly, the passage mentions that promoting overall health will help to prevent the spreading of bacteria. The lecture points out there is not a strong correlation between a tree's health and the ability to resist the bacteria. In other words, a healthy tree is still possible to be vulnerable to the disease. Considering that the construction and the tools that a framer needs to have better irrigation, fertilization, and trimming will cost tremendously, resulting in the strategy being not practical. Last but not least, avoiding the major transmitter bugs sounds effective. Unfortunately, the methods toward this aim are far beyond possible. When it comes to making the utility of living creatures to decrease another species, there will never be an answer if it works. For example, if the farmers introduce the ladybugs, a natural predator of the sap-sucking insects, they can eventually fly away to another area. Therefore, this is also not an effective way to solve the problem.

Hi Michael, thank you for your class, it was really helpfull. Could you check my answer please? Thank you very much! The reading and the lecture are about the disease in olive trees called quick decline syndrome (QDS). Although there are different methods to protect them from this disease, it is difficult to avoid. Firstly, it is known that the early detection of QDS is crucial. However, it has limitations, cause the frequency that should be used for this it involves time and costs that not all farmers can afford. Moreover, sometimes the QDS is not visually detectable, and the bacterium could be already in the trees without anyone noticing. In second place, the promotion of the overall health of olive trees is a strategy that does not guarantee protection. The health of the olive trees involves taking care of proper irrigation, fertilization and trimming, activities that should be carefully planned and developed. Also, plant saplings can be a way of making trees stronger, as they have shown genetic ability to resist Xylella. Nevertheless, these are expensive to purchase. In the third place, another method involves chemical insecticides, used to reduce the sap-sucking insects, mainly the splittlebug. The problem with this method is that insects, over time, can adapt to this product, being resistant to it, and not making it kill them. Addicionally, introducing natural predators of this insects is not a precisse alternative, cause the predators may fly away. To sum up, both the reading and the lecturer hold different vieews about QDS.

Thank you for these videos and your evaluation. In the set of the material, the passage and the speaker do not coincide with each other. The passage points out the three most crucial strategies of all to safeguard the olive tree from bacteria which causes the disease known as Quick decline syndrome, While the speaker casts doubt on each one of the approaches. The passage illustrates that farmers should be meticulous with the trees as soon as they detect the signs of bacterial attack, they should cut down that specific part immediately. The signs are yellowing, withering of leaves, drying branches and slow growth. Besides, the government and the agricultural organization should also spur farmers to be more thorough. The speaker, on the other hand, contends that early detection and eradication do have some limitations since the bacteria can not be visualised and the process of being diligent and cutting is quite time-consuming and pricey. Second, The passage portrays that healthy trees are less likely to be devastated. Thus, to promote the health of the trees farmers should take good care such as proper irrigation, fertilizer and trimming. In contrast, the speaker argues that taking good care is not the safest way to protect the trees as healthy trees can also be infected and manifest all the signs of infections. Finally, the passage claims that sap-sucking insects are spreading the disease, so the strategy should be embraced to control their population by exploiting insecticides, especially spittlebugs. Furthermore, predators can also be introduced into the territory to capture the insect. On the contrary, the speaker states that this is not a promising solution either, these insects will eventually develop resistance against spray and the predators could possibly flee away when introduced to the new place.

Hi Michael, thank you soo much for the videos! Can you please give me some feedback? The present article aims to elucidate three strategies to eliminate a specific bacterium that causes the spread of quick decline syndrome (QDS). According to the reading passage, early detection, the overall health of Olive trees and the use of specific insects allow the decline of this disease. Nevertheless, the lecturer raises doubts about these assertions, providing three compelling counterarguments. Firstly, the author emphasizes that regular inspections can prevent the early spread of these infections. However, the lecturer refutes this claim by pointing out that this theory has many limitations. Moreover, he explains that routine evaluations are expensive and do not prevent the spread of the bacteria. Many times when a tree is diagnosed as an infected tree, the bacteria has already spread to other olive trees. Secondly, the academic passage posits that the promotion of the overall health of olive trees decreases the probability of an appearance of infection. While this fact seems to be plausible, the professor counters this notion by illustrating that this is not a perfect solution. Additionally, he mentions that many healthy trees can become infected, demonstrating that even expensive genetic varieties of olive trees have difficulty in avoiding this bacteria. Lastly, the article asserts that the use of sap-sucking insects has a pivotal impact on the tree’s health. Nonetheless, the lecturer astutely disputes this argument by explaining that it is difficult to control the use of these insects and many times they might fly away, leaving the olive trees unprotected. In conclusion, a profound contrast emerges between the author's optimistic perspective and the lectures’ point of view. The lecture clearly refutes the claims provided by the reading passage, highlighting its perceived disadvantages.

Hi Micheal, thank you for the video! Below is my essay, please take your time, I really appreciate your support :) The lecture and the reading hold completely different views toward the methods protecting olive trees from QDS. The reading provided three ways, however the lecturer does not completely agree with any one of these and he offers his own arguments to challenge the reading’s claim. Firstly, the passage purposed that since early detection can prevent the bacteria from spreading, farmers should check on the trees frequently and destroyed the infected ones immediately. From the lecturer’s opinion, while it is true that noticing the problems as soon as possible may be crucial, it is hard to achieve in practical. No only is it time and money consuming, but detection of bacteria in early stage is also difficult. In most situations, when the bacteria being found, they are already spread to other places. Secondly, the reading passage mentioned that raising the average health condition of all the olive trees sould be an effective way. However, the lecturer points out that even if they are under better caring and grow healthier, it still does not guarantee that they will not be infected by the bacteria. Moreover, there might be farmers who are unable to afford extra expenditures on caring the plants. Finally, the article suggested that spraying the chemical insecticides and introducing natural predators of insects to decrease the population of the insects that the bacteria adhered may be effective. But again, the lecturer argues that while diminishing in the number of the insects might be helpful, it can not be promised that the use of the method would be properly. Farmers cannot control where the predators have to stay, it is highly possible that they may fly to other areas. On the other hand, the use of chemical insecticides should be feasible at first, however the insects may become resistant over time.

Hi, Michael. Thanks for this video and giving me an evaluation opportunity. Here's my answer of integrated task: The reading and the lecture are both about how to prevent quick decline syndrome. While the author of the article argues that there are some methods to defend quick decline syndrome, the lecturer disputes this idea mentioned in the article. His position is that it is difficult to protect against quick decline syndrome by the proposed solution. According to the reading, early detection of the bacteria is important so farmers have to inspect frequently. The article mentions that the government and agricultural organizations should cooperate to find bacteria as soon as possible. This argument is challenged by the lecturer. He claims that inspecting regularly is a time-consuming and expensive process. Additionally, he points out that it is not easy to find out the existence of bacteria visually. Secondly, the author suggests that promoting health is also effective in protecting the bacteria. The article notes that proper irrigation, fertilization, and trimming are all important actions for keeping healthy. The lecturer, however, asserts that these actions mentioned in the article do not guarantee to maintain the tree’s condition. He continues to say that doing these processes completely may be useful for their health, but it is also expensive. Finally, the author puts forth the idea that it is also an effective solution to reduce the number of insects. The article contends that insecticides and the increase of natural predators are good solutions. In contrast, the lecturer’s stance is different because the effects of the insecticides decrease gradually. He says that utilizing natural predators is too difficult to control.

Hello, Michael! Thank You in advance, here is my essay. I took so much time writing the first paragraph so I could not use more details in the next paragraphs. The lecturer and the author both discuss methods to protect olive trees from quick decline syndrome (QDS) The author provides three methods to protect olive trees. The lecturer disputes the claims made by the author; he argues that they are incorrect. First of all, the reading passage notes that early detection could eliminate the spreading of the disease. This can be done by making farmers inspect the trees and start looking for abnormal signs, and by removing the infected trees this will eliminate the spreading of the disease . However, the lecturer points out that although it is essential to inspect trees, there are limitations to this process such the need for frequent checking which will consume time along with the high cost of the process. Moreover, when the signs are visual this will probably mean the disease has already spread. Second, the author states that enhancing the overall health of the plants will help in resisting the disease. This is challenged by the lecturer, as he claims that improving the health does not mean the plant will be able to totally resist the disease. Furthermore, irrigation and the other methods are very expensive to use frequently. Last but not least, the author suggests that using chemical insecticides will reduce the population of the insects who help in spreading the bacteria across the plants. Moreover, introducing predators will eliminate some of those insects. In contrast, the lecturer posits that the insects will be resistant to this chemical after using it and the predators will fly away.

Hi Micheal, thank you soooooo much for your videos. It’s really helpful! I’m appreciate that if u could give me some suggestions of my essay. The reading and lecture are about a death threat to olive trees that suffer from a bacterium, which is transmitted by sap-sucking insects, predominantly the spittlebug. While the author asserts that we can prevent this disease through regular inspection, proper fertilization, and introducing the predator of the insects, the lecturer believes that there are some drawbacks to each way that the author proposes. Firstly, according to the article mentioned by the author, he asserts to inspect their trees regularly. He puts forth the idea that if any signs of disease have been detected in trees, they should be burnt or removed immediately to prevent the spread of the disease. The lecturer, however, find that the method is impractical and not effective. He argues that it is unaffordable to buy such inspections for early detection. Secondly, the author considers it a feasible strategy to properly care for the trees, through measures such as irrigation, pruning, and fertilization, which can effectively reduce the incidence of the disease in every healthy tree. However, the lecturer points out that even a healthy tree can still be infected many times by the bacteria. Lastly, the author suggests introducing predators, such as ladybugs, lacewings, and wasps, to reduce the populations of these insects and thereby help control their spread. Nonetheless, the lecturer argues that introducing these predators could potentially harm the entire environment if the predators spread to other areas.

Michael, can you help me mark my writing. Thank you ! The passage mentions several ways to protect olive trees from QDS. In contrast, the lecture argues about the possiblity of these methods. Firstly, according to the passage, farmers should take early action against the Quick Decline Syndrome (QDS) by regularly inspecting the trees and removing any trees which are infected. The lecture, however, mentioned that the inspections itself need to be done frequently and thoroughly which make it time consuming. In addition, the lecture also points out that the dissease is not that apparent during the early stages. Next, another point the passage addressed was promoting proper irrigation and fertilization to improve the overall health of the trees. On the contrary, the lecture speaks about how proper irrigation and fertilisation does promote better health, it does not provide protections against the disease. Plus, having a disease resistant sapling is expensive for most farmers. Finally, the paassage mentioned that by using insecticide or natural predators to kill off insects that can spread the QDS, we can stop the spread of the disease. However, the lecture claims otherwise. The sap-sucking insects can actually gain immunity towards the insecticide while the natural predators might simply fly away to another location.

Hi, Michael! Thank you for your content. Here's my essay: The reading and the lecture are both about solutions for suppressing a certain bacteria in Mediterranean agriculture. The author of the reading feels that the infection can be prevented by three ways. The lecture challenges the claims made by the author. He is of the opinion that these solutions have drawbacks and limitations. To begin with, the author argues that early by regularly checking the trees and plants for change in their color, the infection can be prevented. The article mentions that the tree with those signs should be trimmed immediately. This specific argument is challenged by the lecturer. He claims that to detect the symptom, we should inspect them frequently, which is limited and expensive. Additionally, he says that may be signs wouldn’t be visually apparent and the infection is already spreading. Secondly, the writer suggests to enhance the overall health of the trees. In the article it is said that healthy plants are more likely to appear resistant in the present of a disease and recover more quickly. The lecture, however, rebuts this by mentioning that this method is not perfect, because, although trimming and fertilizing happen to be useful, but may not be protective. He elaborates on this by bringing up the point that it is an extremely expensive task. Finally, the author posits that by reducing the population of the responsible insects, the infection might be controlled. Moreover, in the article it is stated that using chemicals insecticides Is the most effective method here. In contrast, the lecturer’s position is that this solution helpful but has to be done properly because the insects might get adapted to become resistant to the chemicals.

Thanks, Micheal. Here is my answer. I'll appreciate it if you estimate my score and give me some suggestions for enhancing my level. In the lecture, the professor discredits the three mentioned solutions by the author regarding the treats for Mediterranean trees. The first solution, which introduces early detection as an impressive strategy, is rejected by the professor due to the fact that it can't resolve the problem completely. Also, he emphasizes that it's time consuming and expensive cost. On the other hand, some signs of QDS aren't visible, so we can't recognize that. Secondly, The writer suggests promoting trees' health generally to prevent this kind of disease. The speaker explains that although this is an invaluable action, It can't assure the prevention. He adds that planting saplings, which mentioned in the text, needs too much budget to be practical. The third and final method discusses that we should decrease the reason insects can be a clever tactic. However, the lecture argues that it's a complicated activity, and it's difficult to do properly since providing and keeping the insects' predators in a special area, is so challenging. In conclusion, none of the explained theories can be conclusively accepted, as the lecturer contends there is insufficient evidence to support any of them.

Below is my essay: The article proposes a set of tactics in order to prevent Quick Decline Syndrome (QDS) in olive trees. The lecturer, however, argues that the approaches presented are not as effective. First, according to the article, one of the ways to protect olive trees from QDS is to conduct regular inspections and watch out for signs of the disease. The lecturer, on the other hand, argues that, while that is true, frequent and thorough inspection is quite expensive and time-consuming. Moreover, he states that the early symptoms are quite difficult to detect, which could cause the bacteria to escalate. Second, the lecturer posits that although promoting the overall health of olive trees is effective, as mentioned in the reading, that still doesn't guarantee perfect protection. Furthermore, he points out the high cost of the disease-resisting sapling, which undermines the article's claim. Lastly, he doesn't view the author's claim on reducing the population of sap-sucking insects as an effective method either, as it is quite laborious to orchestrate. He goes on to say that insecticides could work in the beginning; however, the insects would eventually develop resistance to such chemicals, weakening the article's assertion. In addition, he is skeptical regarding the author's approach to introducing predators in the area to lessen the insect population. He explains that this strategy is arduous and equally questionable, as predators such as ladybugs and wasps would likely fly away from the infected olive trees to somewhere else, which would defeat the purpose of releasing predators in the first place. Simply put, the speaker undermines the author's several approaches to saving olive trees from QDS as not being effective enough. I'd really appreciate it if you could take your time to rate my essay. Thank you, Kripa

Hi Micheal, thank you for the question here. Would be grateful if you would rate my essay: The speaker has highlighted various drawbacks of the three methods which are otherwise considered to be the most effective to control quick decline syndrome (“QDS”) in olive trees. The first method used for managing QDS is early detection of the disease and burning the identified infected trees, which avoids further spread of the bacteria which causes the QDS. However, this method is effective only when the plantations are inspected frequently and thoroughly. Such an inspection of the plantations is not only time consuming but also substantially adds to the cost of growing olives for the farmers. Furthermore, the symptoms of QDS become visually apparent only after elapse of some time, and it is possible that the bacteria had in fact already spread to other trees before the QDS infection was detected during an inspection. The second method used for QDS management is promoting overall health of olive trees, by ensuring due care of the trees and selecting saplings which have shown genetic resistance to QDS. However, this method does not guarantee a complete solution. A healthy tree may also be infected by the QDS, however, the spread may be slower as compared to the spread in an unhealthy tree. The saplings of olive trees which have genetic ability to resist the disease are generally expensive and therefore, increase the cost of growing olives. The third method is to control the growth of the insects that carry the QDS bacteria, that is sap-sucking insects such as spittlebugs, by using insecticides or introduction of predatory insects such as ladybugs, lacewings and wasps. However, spittlebugs tend to adapt to the insecticides and therefore, an insecticide ends up becoming ineffective over the course of time. Further, the predators that are employed to control the spittlebugs tend to fly away to other areas where they may not be required and hence are not completely effective in eliminating spittlebugs from the infected area. Hence, the most effective methods for controlling the QDS in olive trees are not completely effective and suffer from many drawbacks.

Hello Michael! I have my exam within few days! Can you pls mark my writing? The passage and the lecture discuss an important method to keep olive trees healthy and free from bacteria-causing the disease, quick decline syndrome (QDS). The writing introduces methods of controlling and irradicating QDS. The lecturer opposes those methods mentioned in the passage. First, the passage suggested frequent inspection of trees. The lecturer agrees that frequent inspection is one way of knowing if the tree is infected or not, but he thinks it poses a financial burden and is time-consuming. He adds that early detection is not practical, it is very hard to detect early infestation. The infestation signs are obvious when it is already in the late stages. The speaker then moves on to debate the second proposal in the passage, keeping the overall health of the trees. He says that even healthy trees that are irrigated, propagated, and fertilized properly also get infested out of nowhere! Also, he opposes the idea of resistant species as these are extremely expensive and not feasible for every farm. Thirdly, the lecturer challenges the writer about the idea of spraying insecticides and spreading predators such as ladybugs, wasps, and lacewings. Introducing those predators to feed on sap-sucking insects such as sittlebugs which infest olive trees usually fails and those predators travel to other nearby places where they are not needed and mess with the ecosystem. Not to mention the known hazards of insecticides and how insects eventually become resistant to them!

Here is my answer. I'll appreciate it if you estimate my score and give me some suggestions for enhancing my level. Both the reading and the lecture talks about methods of preventing the Oliver tree from disease. The Autor of the essay believes that the disease can be prevented by the three reasons mentioned in the passage on the other hand the lecture thinks that all the methods mentioned have drawbacks First the Autor of the essay suggest that if the farmers try to detect the early of sign and symptoms of the disease they could remove or burn the affected areas to prevent the spread of disease and the reading also mention that the government can also help with the process in contrast the lecture argues that frequent detection of the sign and symptoms could really be time consuming and expensive. Furthermore, the symptoms sometimes is no easy to identify Secondly the reading noticed that promoting the overall health of the olive trees by irrigation, fertilization ,trimming also helps the trees to fight against the bacteria it also mentions that introducing saplings, a resistant version of the tree on the other hand the lecture thinks that all the three methods that the writer mentioned might not protect the trees even more this process is so expensive to the farmers Finally the reading notice that decreasing the spread of the bacteria by using chemical insect side with introducing natural predators is the most effective ways to prevent the disease in contrast the lecture thinks it is hard to properly spread insect side to the affected plans and sometimes the bacteria’s can adopt the chemicals in additions it is mentioned that chemical during this process could spread to un wanted areas

Hi Michael. Here's my essay. I'll appreciate if you can estimate my score and give me some tips to enhance my level. Thank you!! The reading and the lecture are both about the threads of disease caused by bacteria to Olive Trees in the Mediterranean agriculture, which can quickly destroy the trees and has already devastated entire olive groves in Italy and Spain. While the author of the article argues that there are three most effective methods to protect olive trees from the bacteria that are widely considered, the lecturer disputed the claims mentioned in the article. His position is that each solution has its own drawbacks that question its effectiveness. First, according to the reading, early detection of the bacteria is crucial to preventing the spread of the disease which can be done by regularly inspecting their trees and look for signs of disease. He claims that, even early detection is good, frequent inspection can be time consuming and expensive, especially in large groves. Additionally, he points out that early detection is difficult to do succesfully, since in the first stages of the disease it's really hard to see symptons and it is likely that the bacteria spreaded into other trees. Secondly, the author suggets that promoting the overall health of the olive trees is another effective way to prevent bacteria spread. The lecturer, however, asserts that promoting health to all trees isn't a perfect strategy, since irrigation, fertilization and triming do not guarantee protection. Even healthy trees can be infected at any time. The article notes that farmers can also plant sapplings as mode of prevention due to its genetic ability to resist the disease. However, the lecturer goes on to say that sappling can be expensive and difficult to obtain by farmers. Finally, the author puts forth the idea that reducing the population of spittlebugs by spraying chemical insecticides and introducing natural predators such as ladybugs, lacewings and wasps can also help control the spread of the disease. In contrast, the lecture's stance is that insecticides work well at first but in a matter of time spittlebugs adapt to the new environment condition. Likewise, he adds that insect predators are effective, though they are difficult to utilize properly and the chances of them to fly away is high.

The reading passage and professor both discuss about the critical problem of olive trees threatened by QSD.The author mentions three effective methods for people to protect olive trees from QSD. Although the statements seem convincing and substantiated, the professor casts doubts on them for several reasons. First, the reading passage claims that observation on olive trees and elimination would be a potential solution. The government and agricultural organizations both encourage farmers to detect whether the plants are infected by the bacteria by observing their growth, color of their leaves and dying branches. However, the professor argues that this method is costly and time consuming. He points out that the infection of QSD could not be detected by visual in early stages, by the time they observe some changes and remove the trees, the infection would have already spread. Second, the author states that promoting those healthy olive trees which are better at resist infections could prevent the spread of bacteria, and planting saplings is also a good strategy cause they are genetically resist to the disease. Conversely, the professor indicates that this method isn’t perfect enough. He mentions that proper irrigation and fertilization can’t guarantee the protection of the trees. Furthermore, the extreme cost for planting saplings would be a burden on farmers. Finally, the author alleges that spraying chemical insecticides can keep those sap-sucking bugs away from the fields, since the bacteria is transmitted mostly by them. This additionally introduce natural predators of those bugs to regulate the population of the spittlebug. On the contrary, the professor refutes the idea by providing a solid evidence that the sap-sucking bug might soon adapt the environment and become resistance to the insecticides. Moreover, he mentions that it’s hard to utilize those natural predators properly, and since the olive tree fields are in rural area, it’s hard to tell when this will happened. Although the contents in the reading passage seem plausible, the professor disapproves them with solid reasoning.

Here's my response. Will be happy if you provide some feedback and evaluation. The main topic of both the reading passage and the lecture is olive tree disease called QDS caused by bacterias. The article states that even though this disease can destroy olive trees, some methods have been developed to protect them. The lecturer, however, explains that each of the approaches mentioned in the reading text has drawbacks and expresses the trouble with each point presented in the reading text. Firstly, the reading passage claims that farmers can prevent the spread of this disease by detecting it at an early age. Additionally, farmers can find out early symptoms of the disease in the trees and adopt exact strategies to prevent and protect trees from QDS. The professor challenges this point by positing that this approach has some limitations, because it can be time consuming and expensive. More specifically, it will be very hard to detect the symptoms in the early age of QDS disease, and unfortunately, bacterias can be spread to nearby trees. Therefore, according to the professor, farmers cannot control early diseases. On top of that, the passage claims that the overall health of olive trees should be promoted. The author states that farmers can do so by properly fertilizing, irrigating and trimming trees, which will help trees to recover from diseases. Again, the lecturer disagrees. He is of the opinion that trimming, fertilizing and irrigating strategies are not perfect, inasmuch as they can not guarantee the protection of trees from diseases. Also, this process might be extremely costly for farmers. Hence, this is how the professor proves that providing overall health to the olive trees will not be that much effective. Finally, the author posits that because bacterias are mostly transmitted to trees by insects, it will be better to have a control over insect populations. Furthermore, the author believes that this can be done by spraying chemical insecticides or using natural predators such as ladybugs, which can result in insect population decrease. Nevertheless, the lecturer is inclined to believe that even though this method is helpful, it is in fact very hard. Moreover, using natural predators to control insect population will not work, since insect predators such as ladybugs cannot adapt in these environmental areas and will look for other suitable places to live in. So, According to the professor, trying to control insect populations will have its drawbacks.

The reading is about how to protect olive trees against a bacterium that causes a disease called quick decline syndrome. While the author of the reading provides three solutions to overcome this issue, the lecturer challenges each of these solutions. He thinks that although these are the most common solutions, each of them has its own disadvantages. First, the author of the reading puts forth the idea of early detection, which can be done by farmers through regular examinations. However, the lecturer contends that even though these inspections are crucial, they have limitations. They require frequent and comprehensive inspections which can be very costly and time-consuming. Moreover, it’s hard to visually detect signs of disease, so early detection is not possible. As a result, bacteria can still contaminate adjacent trees. Secondly, the reading mentions promoting the overall health of trees as a solution. Also, farmers can plant saplings that are genetically able to resist this disease. The professor, on the other hand, challenges the ideas of proper irrigation, fertilization, and trimming, which were mentioned in the reading. He is of the opinion that though these can help, they don’t guarantee protection. Even healthy trees get infected all the time. Also, the idea of using saplings is not practical because they are expensive for farmers to purchase. Finally, according to the reading passage, since bacteria are transmitted by insects, we could prevent the disease by reducing the populations of these insects. In addition, we can enlist the help of natural predators of these insects. In contrast, the speaker asserts that reducing insect populations is helpful but difficult. If we use chemical sprays as the reading suggests, it might work at first, but over time the insects adapt and become resistant to insecticides. Also, using natural predators is difficult, because once we release them into an area, they readily fly away to other areas. Since olive groves are in rural areas, it’s hard to tell when this has happened. In conclusion, the lecturer challenges each of the solutions provided by the author by realistically stating their drawbacks.

The reading passage and the lecture are about methods to protect olive trees from a bacterium that is known to cause a disease called quick decline syndrome (QDS). While the author of the reading passage proposes three methods to protect olive trees from the disease, the lecturer challenges those methods and claims them to be less effective. First, the author suggests to inspect their trees for early detection of the disease. He says that if any signs of disease have been detected in the trees, they should be burnt or removed immediately to prevent the spread of disease. The lecturer, however, finds this method to be ineffective. He says that early detection requires frequent inspection and it is too expensive to be afforded. He further argues that visual symptoms appearing on the olive trees for early detection is less likely to happen also, by the time the disease is detected chances of it being already spread to other trees are high. Second, the writer puts forth his idea to promote the overall health of olive trees by planting disease-resistant varieties and properly irrigating, fertilizing, and trimming the trees. The lecturer disagrees and asserts his stance by saying that disease-resistant crops are expensive for farmers to purchase. Moreover, he says that there is room for improvement of the health of the tree by irrigating, fertilizing, and trimming the tree but, it is not guaranteed. Finally, the author states that using insecticides can help control the disease, and also introducing natural predators like ladybugs, lacewings and wasps can reduce the population of spittlebugs, the main transmitter of the disease. The lecturer defies this idea and states that with time spittle bugs might gain resistance to the insecticide. Furthermore, ladybugs, lacewings, and wasps are difficult to use effectively as they might fly to another place later.

The reading passage discusses Olive trees that have recently been endangered to a disease termed quick decline syndrome (QDS) through a bacterium. While the author presents three effective solutions that are commonly used, The lecturer argues against each point that why each has its own flaws. According to the reading, farmers can prevent olive tress from further infection by detecting symptoms of the disease in an early stage. However the lecturer contends while it is true that early identifying of the diseases would definitely help, it has its limitations. For one, It is extremely time consuming to do so. Secondly, it would be challenging to identify the disease in trees early. This is due to the fact that the infection start its it journey internally, and realising it until it is late is not straightforward. Moreover, the author suggest elevating the well-being of trees overall. In contrast, the lecturer says that it is integral to the same, but this method is not the best one. You see, if we promote trees health overall, it would work in a short time and does not guarantee and long- lasting effects.Trees can still get infected despite their health. Finally, the reading claims diminishing insects that spread this illness like Spittletbug through spraying trees with chemical insecticides would be a great solution. On the other hand, the lecturer argues that this approach might be useful only for the first time. That is, insects adopt naturally to these chemicals and their immune system will resist more, which again makes this method not efficient.

The main idea of the lecture and the reading passage is about a disease, known as quick decline syndrome, that can destroy olive trees. In this vein, the reading passage proposes three practice that can avoid such a disease. On the other hand, the professor in the lecture casts doubt on the points made in the reading, stating that none of them can be effective and convincing. Firstly, the writer suggests that since early detection of the disease can avoid spread of it, this practice should be implemented by the government and farmers. However, the professor in the lecture believes that early detection is important and can be effective, but this method can have some limitations that make it difficult to be applied. In fact, it is time-consuming, and the bacteria is not visible at an early stage, so the diseases can easily infect other nearby trees. Secondly, the text argues that some practices that can improve the overall health of trees should be performed. In contrast, the lecturer points out that these practice such as proper irrigation, fertilization, and trimming are not perfect and can only improve the overall health of tress, but they cannot guarantee the protection of tress towards the disease. The professor explains that purchasing the saplings resisting the diseases would be expensive for farmers. Finally, the reading passage claims that the disease can be controlled by introduced natural predators and sparying chemical insecticides. Nevertheless, the lecturer states that spraying chemical substances can make the bacteria resistant over time, and introduced natural predators can have several unpredictable consequences. For example, natural predators can spread across the nearby areas, which is difficult to predict what will happen

The article and the lecture both deal with ways of protecting olive trees from bacterias. While the author states that there could be effective ways of preventing the quick decline syndrome, the lecturer opposes his claims. In his opinion, these reasons do not hold water. On one hand, the article maintains that an early detection can boost the health of the olive trees. If farmers quickly identify the disease patterns, they could actually remove the symptoms and prevent them from spreading on the whole tree. In contrast, the speaker proclaims that while this is true, inspecting the trees can be time consuming and expensive for the people working on farms. Additionally, it is not easy to visualize whether the tree is experiencing the effects of the bacteria and by the time the tree is cut it could have been already spread all around the olive tree. On the other hand, the reading passage claims that the promotion of the health through fertilizers, irrigators or even trimming could be another effective way of impeding the devastation of the olive trees. Futhermore, the saplings are another solid option to generate more genetic resistance. The speaker calls this argument into question by stating that these methods could work but there is no certain guarantee of the protecion. As a matter of fact, these methods could infect the nearby plants and the saplings are an expensive option for the farmers to consider. Also, the author states that controling insects such as the spittlebug could increase the population of the trees. The article proclaims that insecticides and introducing predators of the same might prevent the transportation of the bacteria. However, the lecturer does not agree that this could work. Whilst the insecticide can reduce the population of this insect at first, over time they can adapt to the same and build a resistance to it. Additionally, introducing predators such as the wasps cannot be an effective idea because there is a possibility that they might move away into other areas.

The article and the lecture are about quick decline syndrome (QDS) affecting olive trees in the Mediterrenean region, where the trees are grown in large numbers. The reading explains three ways by which farmers can prevent the quick decline syndrome from affecting the trees. However, the lecturer argues against each point. First, the reading argues that the syndrome could be prevented by early detection. It also mentions that the government and organisations have the responsibility to carry out this task in order to observe early enough the trees that are affected in order to prevent them from worsening. However, the lecturer challenges this suggestion. He said that trees that are affected do not show sign at the early stage. This means that even when trees are affected, it is not external, but internal. And by the time it is visible, it would have gotten worse. Next, the reading states that olive trees could be protected from infection by promoting the overall health of the trees. To make this happen, the government could provide saplings that are genetically strong to resist attack. The speaker, on the contrary, says that this method does not guarantee a lasting solution. According to him, saplings can be expensive and therefore, there is a limit to the extent to which it could be provided. Finally, the article suggests that quick decline syndrome could be controlled by applying insecticide to kill the insects. The lecturer challenges this suggestion. According to him, insecticides do not work over time since the insects could develop resistance and immunity over a long period of time. Alternatively, according to the article, farmers could introduce natural predators to help fight against the existence and spread of the pests in the farms. The lecturer, however, says that this method is expensive to maintain.

Dear teacher, here my answer, 🎉how many points will you grade it? Both the article and lecture are about the rapid decay syndrome (QDS), an olive tree disease caused by bacteria. The article describes three ways to reduce the QDS spreading. The lecturer challenges the author of the article. He says all three solutions have drawbacks. Firstly, the author notes that one of the ways to prevent the spread of the disease is to detect it early, which is crucial to preventing the spreading of the disease. Moreover, the author says farmers should take regular inspection, and if trees show any signs of disease, they must be removed and burn. The lecture challenges this idea, he argues that this method has its limitations, and that it is costly to remove and burn trees. Meanwhile, removing trees can also spread disease. Second, according to the article, the effective control strategy is to promote the overall health of Olive trees through proper irrigation and trimming, which can better improve their ability to resist infection and recover from the disease, as well as planting saplings designated with the ability to resist infection of virus. In contrast, the lecturer notes that genetically destroying the disease is not effective and expensive. Finally, the article suggests that the use of insects to eat pathogenic bacteria can help control the spread of disease. On the other hand, the lecturer notes that insects can be effective, but when they are full, they fly away.

Here's my response, waiting for your response The reading and the lecture are both about the ways to preserve olive trees which are threatened by a bacteria causing the disease known as quick decline syndrome. The author believes that olive trees can be protected from spittle bugs by a combination of multiple approaches which includes early detection of disease, regular inspection, improving the overall health of trees, and by using insecticides and bugs that generally prey on spittlebugs. The lecturer disagrees with the claims made in the reading and critiques each of the author’s arguments. According to the author, Early detection will greatly help in order to reduce the spread of disease. The article asserts that regularly inspecting the plants for various symptoms like yellow leaves, dying branches and slow growing would be really beneficial to detect the ill-affected region which could be followed by removing the affected branches. The argument is challenged by the lecturer. He claims that frequent and thorough inspections are costly as well as time consuming. He emphasizes that, by the time the symptoms are visible to naked human eye they would’ve already affected the neighbouring plants and branches. Secondly the author suggests that improving the tree health by means of irrigation, fertilizers and trimming would help them to resist the bacteria. The article also suggests to plant saplings that are immune against these types of bacteria. The lecturer, however asserts that while these methods may improve their health but it cannot effectively guarantee their protection against the viruses. He continues by stating that planting saplings would prove to be costly for the farmers. Finally, the author puts forth the use of insecticides and bugs that prey on spittle bugs. In contrast, the lecturer’s stance is that while the insecticides may prove to be effective at the initial stages, they are not a solution in the long run. Because, those bugs get mutated and can easily resist the insecticides. He says that, the use of predator insects like ladybugs would be really difficult. As ladybugs are difficult to control and can easily fly to some other regions where they are not needed at all. In conclusion, both the author and the speaker are fervent in their beliefs and disagree with each other on every point. Thankyou

I recommend studying article use, as that seems to be a weak spot for you. A few other things are worth mentioning here: 1. You misstated the problem which the sources are about. It is about protecting trees from QDS. Not spittlebugs. 2. There are capitalization errors like "Early detection." Be careful. 3. Avoid starting sentences with "because." I think this essay would score 22 or 23 points.

Please I want your score ❤❤👇👇 Both the reading and the lecture are about the threat of a type of bacteria that causes QDS disease on olive trees. The viewpoints of the article's author and the lecturer regarding the solutions that limit this threat appear to be different. On the one hand, the author suggests three potential methods that effectively protect olive trees from this threat. On the other hand, the lecturer challenges the author and explains how the author's claims relating to these methods may lack precision or adequacy since their drawbacks are not mentioned. Firstly, the reading suggests that it is crucial to early detect the presence of this bacteria. According to the reading, this detection should be early conducted by farmers frequently to remove the infected trees early. However, the lecturer opposes this idea. He notes that there are certain limitations to this issue since this regular scan requires much money and effort. Furthermore, he says that the signs of infection may not be evident from the beginning or we may find them after they have scattered to other trees. Second, the author claims that promoting the overall health of olive trees by using methods such as proper irrigation, fertilization, and trimming is an effective way of protection. On the contrary, the lecturer has a different idea about this matter as well. He argues that these three promotion elements may not fully guarantee the protection of olive trees, and they may negatively affect other trees. He also asserts that these health promotion issues may be expensive to apply. Finally, the author mentions that eradicating or reducing the population of such insects sorts is a proper method to restrict the disease by spraying such chemicals that kill insects or production of these inseinsectadtors to eat them and reduce their numbers. In contrast, the lecturer contends that these two strategies may not be conducted properly since insects may adapt as time passes to resist these chemicals and survive. Moreover, he declares that the predators may settle or fly to places other than the required or the goal places to introduce them. As you can see the passage's author and the lecturer hold very different perspectives concerning the methods that protect olive trees from this QDS disease-triggering bacteria.
