So people are crying about "stereotypical " stuff but the prime minister of Japan literally got out of a pipe dressed as Mario to announce the olympics back in 2016.
@gwafashofa

I don't get it when they say "stereotopical", but that is Japan's culture. Traditional and modern way of living, merge harmoniously. Their culture is definitely an envy amongst the Southeast Asian Countries. We look at Japan as our benchmark of society and community. And Japan's yearning of harmony amidst the noisy modern world and strict traditional ways is Japan at its distinct national identity. :)

People just love to get offended for anything nowdays. Even when it doesn't concern them. Twitter mafia is the best example of this, if only people cared about real issues this enthusiastically. @@flynncollins6930 It's the IOC, organizers of the Olympics, that will be getting almost 75% of their income flow from broadcasting rights. The country of Japan and the city of Tokyo, is basically screwed with virtually zero economic impact from oversea tourists or internal movements of citizens typically generated from the event. What Japan got is street creds, sympathy and some expensive recreational facilities.

I mean they delayed it a year and people are able to get vaccines now. At this point anyone who didn't get their vaccine is at their own risk and things should pretty much be opening up. Just got to laugh at the anti-vaccers and laugh more if they get sick for being stupid. I mean I get it about 8 months ago when they didn't have enough to go around and started giving it to the elderly first but it's been 8 months and it's been at least about 3 to 4 months it's been available to everyone almost anywhere. At this point people should have them and the people that don't probably procrastinated on it or are protesting to get it.

I like that they try to show their history in the opening ceremony, but it wasn't dynamic, so it feels kind of boring, they need to remembered that their public is not the japanese is the whole world, so the events need to mis the best of everything they had and show them in a dynamic way that make enjoy everybody, something like London 2012 made, and also like Lima Panamerican Games 2019 made

Remember Japan's presentation during Rio's Closing ceremony? The tone of that one was incredibly energetic and exciting, much like the trailer here. Compare it to the Opening Ceremony today and the difference is night and day. It wasnt bad, but we all know that if this pandemic wasnt a thing, Japan would have went ALL OUT. Probably something comparable to Beijing 2008. I get why they went in the direction they did, but its still pretty sad looking. :/

Translate to English by DeepL↓ I am a Japanese who happened to hit upon this video in a search a year after the Tokyo Olympics opening and closing ceremonies (2022), but I felt that this BBC preview video, French TV commercials, and the flagship ceremony during the Rio Olympics closing ceremony were much more Japan-like.
