only go if you're a beautiful person on the outside and smile lots. japanese love to see beautiful foreigners. if you're a good looking girl or guy you'll be treated like a rock star with bright eyes and eager smiles directed at you in most places. it really warms the heart to see beautiful people smartly dressed smiling and walking around. have a humble disposition and you'll have a great trip!!

Planning is key for me, for wherever I go. Too much stress and anxiety, if I don't plan. XD

Plan ahead (make a document of things you want to do for each day). There's a lot to see and do in Japan. Buy a JR rail pass for the amount of time you're staying, so you're not spending money on separate train tickets everytime. Book hostels each night ahead of time: they way cheaper than hotels, and they're still clean and comfy.

This has been said a couple of times before but don't say "uh huh" and "I see" so much when you are talking to people. It can be really annoying and when you do it so much it feels like you are not actually listening to what someone has to say.
