After witnessing his mother (Ann-Margret) and her lover (Oliver Reed) murder his father, Tommy is commanded, ""You didn't hear it, you didn't see it, and you won't say anything to anyone."" Traumatized, the boy retreats into the shadows of his mind and becomes deaf, dumb and blind.
Growing into manhood, Tommy (Roger Daltry) is subjected to bizarre cure attempts by The Acid Queen (Tina Turner), the Preacher (Eric Clapton), and the Specialist (Jack Nicholson) and in spite of his handicap defeats the Pinball Wizard (Elton John) to become the champ, hailed by devoted fans as a ""Messiah.""
With classic rock opera moments including ""Pinball Wizard"", ""The Acid Queen"", ""See Me, Feel Me" and starring Ann-Margret, Oliver Reed, Elton John, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton and Jack Nicholson, Tommy is set to rock your senses all over again with a newly restored print and an original source 5.1 surround sound extravaganza!

When I was 14 and my little sister was 10, my parents dropped us at the movie theater (they used to do this frequently when they wanted to get rid of us for a couple hours). They dropped us in this movie one night. We were scarred forever. We still talk about it. i am 60 years old now.

Right my Mom took us to see this and we also had the sound track album. She embarrassed us in the theater when they show the weird uncle Ernie part she laughed so loud and hard and we slipped down 2 rows to avoid being seen with her lol

I’m nearly 50, this movie we watched as children it terrifying for a kid. But now it’s the best movie as it shows the truth...such cruel parenting needs to be seen

It's a great film but it probably should have been rated R instead of PG. A lot of parents probably brought their kids to it thinking it was a kid's movie, but it really isn't with the heavy themes and insane imagery.

Must have been weird to act in this scene. Just sit perfectly still and don't react while everyone is dancing around and singing at you. Most kids probably wouldn't be able to manage that.

Love this movie.. But why did they have a brown eyed kid to play the part? Did his eyes turn blue when he got older? Sorry I pick things out like that

@@kayleighbrown459 In this scene, he's definitely frustrated. When the presumed-dead Captain Walker shows up after the war, then I'd say that's angry.

You know, I don’t think Oliver Reed was doomed to sing poorly per say. It sounds as if he just wasn’t given any direction on how to properly use his voice; he’s just shouting. If he had had some coaching, he could have been a non-singer that worked in the role he played.

It's perfect Ollie singing, and i could totally get why Ann Margret would fall for him voice and all.... Oliver Reed was doing Tom Waits/Ian Dury before they were invented.

He had a single out in the 60's called The Wild One, it's pretty good. Pete Townshend has said for the Tommy movie Oliver's vocals were patched together from many many takes but he got better as he went on.
