You took me back with the Young Young crew lol. They were a force on the southside. I remember (about 88) Tommy and Tech (

A couple of points of correction: Stanton Dwellings (15th Place or 1-5) and Frederick Douglass Dwellings (Stanton Terrace) were demolished and combined to become Henson Ridge. Two distinct neighborhoods that were sworn enemies but across the street from each other. They didn't magically merge into one neighborhood. The bulk of the violence depicted in this video was between 1-5 and Stanton Terrace. Congress Park was a whole diff thing.

It was a couple of beefs because I actually lived across the street from members of the crew. I lived between Stanton Terrace and Bruce place, and I went to Turner. I knew Anthony Peyton and people from the crew. Some of this story sounds off because from what I remember they lived on the Terrace, but did their business on 15th Pl. From what I remember, it was love on the Terrace, whatever happened on 15th hit our side one in a blue moon. It wasn't just Congress Park. They were beefing with Parkland too, over a dope spot. It was all good at one point, then things just changed.

If this doesn't rang true today!!! It's eerie to hear him speak about how outta control the crime is. He literally stated this is too much and I can not handle what I've been seeing and exposed to. I give him credit for realizing this and making a decision that would benefit his mental health. This poor mom who lost 2 children at the same moment is heart shattering!! All that pain she has to endure is frustrating for me bc I watched my own mom suffer with this same exact pain and there's nothing I can do to ease it. 1990's were horrific especially for innocent children adults and seniors. Now in 2023 we are experiencing the same horrible conditions, kids are running wild, adults are enabling them, street life predators are preying on them, music specifically "drill" music, social media, terrible school systems, no fathers in the homes, mothers ok with their sons and daughters engaging in street activities that CLD case these kids their lives, poor economic upbringings, systemic racism, untrust towards police it's just so much going on. Thank you for sharing this style of content and the message behind it!!

My best memories came from Living in Stanton Terrace. Nothing really happened on the Terrace as much, everything happened on 15th pl, that where Tommy's operation was. The actual beef was "1-5" Congress Park and Parkland. Thry mainly got Tommy and the crew for what happened in the beef between them and Parkland going back and forth over a dope spot aka "a drug/turf war. Anthony aka spooks, Tommy and they crew did their business on "1-5", but lived across the street from me with his sister, his other brother and his sister baby's father, so we saw everybody all the time. Some of those partys were block parties, and cookouts on my side, and when the Summer came and it got hot, the crew opened up the fire hydrant so thr kids can play in the water. The fire department would close it up, and guys from the crew would open it right back up. It was only because there was a stupid rumor in the hood that people used to do number 1 and number 2 in the pool, but when i was going to Hillcrest Camp, there was no evidence of that😁. Sometimes the media makes the streets look more serious than what it is, but a DC kid from NE to SE, it was just misguided brothers who had to make their own opportunities up because the city wouldn't let everyone know there were other opportunities. Got a CDL, forklift license, security clearance, HVAC certification Thanks to DC. I love the hood.

I never had a curfew as a teen. My muva just wanted to know where I was going, and who I was with, and nine times out of ten I was with a female or at the go-go/strip club. Those were the good old days when lap dances were a dollar at Bumpers and the mirror's would sweat. Lol
