Great Job again Tom, you nailed it as always. As a diehard Skynyrd fan and guitar player, it's so important to play it right, and not skipping over parts like some hacks do. No ofense to the hacks, it's just that they don't hear all the notes sometimes. Thanks again Tom.

Awesome Tom. So happy to see you back making guitar videos. I thought you were quitting and only making golfing videos. Nothing wrong with that but I suck at golf LoL... Maybe if you can upload some of your old guitar videos here. I really enjoyed those videos. Thanks brother, Good health and God bless

Awesome demo. If I remember correctly many of my favorite guitarist's especially in the beginning didn't use a 4×8 sheet of plywood full of pedals. One end of the chord in the guitar the other end in a amp. And the tones them guys created was amazing. Gary rossington, Ted Nugent, Leslie West, just to name a few was for the most part done with the hand's and playing with the volume knob. That was it. No need for anything else. We don't have to try as hard when we have so much help from other devices. And most of the time that's not a good thing.

Gary played a lot of his solos with the neck pickup and rhythm on the bridge pickup and just used the toggle switch and didn't have to move the volume knob.Neck pickup on 10 and rhythm halfway

I like the tone of those solos on that first guitar you played ... or do you play it slightly differently on different guitars?

Find an very old piano, check the keys and see if they are genuine ivory. I made some picks from ivory, they have a bite and made a good pick. they made the strings sing.

I've said this forever. My tone even comes thru on other people's stuff. The pick angle, attack and placement of the picking all contribute. THAT is the biggest part of your tone, not the pickups or speakers.

I have so much trouble getting the right tones and it frustrates me as I'm trying to get the tunes out of my head. A decent amp would help but a new drum kit's first now I'm in a place i can make noise 🤘🇦🇺

Tone is in the hands grip pressure, but also pickup ohm strength, pickup position choice, guitar control settings, amp and settings, yes, the actual wood, mass /size of body, wood used in neck, string guage, pick thickness, how hard you pick and size of your speakers, so you clowns can all stop claiming that tone rests upon one thing and discount all these factors. I've played guitar over 40 years, half of it pro and learned EACH of the factors I gave can and DO ABSOLUTELY affect tone.

A really good example of this that's not even that in depth is zakk wylde playing a hello kitty guitar. Still sounds like zakk wylde lol

Your a great player and your videos are real good. But I think this "tone is in the hands" is over sold and most times I hear people confuse tone... with style and feel. I hardly heard any tone changes when you played in the "Style" of these guys. Set your amp.... choose a guitar... hit an A chord or whatever. There is your basic tone. 95% percent to me. Of course there are 100s of shades of that basic tone you can squeeze out of the strings and fingers, but why do people choose an amp they love if it's all in your hands? I hear a lot of fizzy crap here on YT. Try and make that tone sound good with your hands. It won't work. Now if Page played thru that, he would sound like himself due to his style and what he plays and his skill set. If it was in all in your hands we wouldn't hear 1000s of guys complain about the backline amps they were forced to play through. What you play can't get good tone. How hard or soft you strike... or your vibrato... how you slide into notes... how staccato you play are all style. Thoughts?

I agree with that. You can't get any tone w/o equipment. You control dynamics with your hands. To further bolster your opinion, if tone is in your hands, would you be able to make a plastic children's guitar sound like a les Paul through a marshall stack. I don't think so

Agree, as a photographer and a guitar enthusiast, this kind of stuff just makes me speechlessly smily, it's the same old "A great photographer can take great photos with ANY camer and lens", ABSOLUTELY, the great photographer with trained eye will deliver interesting results no matter what circumstances. But you just can't replicate the Full Frame 300mm F2.8 look with a barebone f5.6 kit lens lens mounted on crop sensor camera.
