Awesome lesson and channel. Ive been studying their guitar parts on my USA made Fender strat lately. Do you recommend the Boss Kattana ( not sure of the spelling of it) amp for home practice ? Great to see you keeping their legacy and music alive to the next generation. Cheers mate!

Go look at the live version in black and white film of the song Steve performed (Got that right). Where Steve played that black Custom LP. It sounds just like a strat in that song too. Steve was awesome!

Excellent instructional video on capturing Gary's tone and techniques. Thanks for taking the time. I'm guilty of being one of those metal skynyrd guys too... 😄😎 It's just fun chasing tones and putting a heavier edge on some of my favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd tunes... without doing injustice to the original tune. I love skynyrd just as much as you do. You've done equally excellent work covering Allen Collins tecniques too. Thanks for those videos as well. Anyway..plz keep up the good works. I enjoy your insights and observations on everything Skynyrd! 👏🏻🙌🏻✌🏻

Lynyrd Skynyrd is my all time favourite and the main influence learning guitar playing. Those guys were exceptional musicians and they knew how to do the best with theyr own instruments to put plenty of great songs together. They also were heavy drinkers and what ever and really were burning the candle from both ends. Rough and rowdy young men. It's some how funny to see that theyr music has become a bit nerdish thing also (IN A POSITIVE WAY) were fans and especially those who play guitar get in the discussions about technical details of theyr playing. It only tells us how unike band they were.

Not a guitar player but I watch channels like.yours cause huge rock fan with Skynyrd my favorite and Sat nite special all time fave song period. Ronnie was so smart to have 3 guitarists knowing that he'd get more great riffs to work with. Reason band was so great was of course cause Ronnie made it so. Most fans proclaim pronounced as best album slightly over 2nd but for me 2nd is easily superior. Weakest song but still quality is I need u. All time fave on album is Needle Spoon but all are top notch. Lately Swamp music has my ears smiling. Before crash Ronnie was 1 lucky sob to have all those players and way Powell came to be and then of course Gaines. Only time Ronnie ever smiled was watching Steve play. Never saw another member smile maybe Collims wanted to to but think he was scared shirtless of Ronnie and never got over it. In any case think you're like me and consider them the greatest bar none and they had amazing chops!

But the strat is an improvement .That song sounds great with a strat in posistion 4 when you have a single coil sized humbucker in the neck ,I built one for an expearment ,Turns out its here to stay ,I noticed others like andy timmons do this too.

I just wanted to drop a quick comment to thank you for all of the extremely useful info you pack into your videos. FINALLY I understand how to get that power amp overdrive that so many of us want. I play through a Blackstar HT 40, which is a fairly high gain amp. I was relying on preamp and pedals in searching for tone, but I think my search (and pedal buying spree) is over. Even on this amp I was able to get a really good tone last night by cranking the channel volume and keeping my gain down around 3-4. Couple this with turning up the mids and raising the bass and treble like you said and Wow! Instant 1976 southern rock tone. And your other tips on how to hold the pick for pinch harmonics and rolling the guitar volume off for clean tones are priceless. I could go on and on. I’m a working musician playing in 2 classic rock cover bands. You would think I would know this stuff already. 🤔 I can’t wait to put all of this to work on my next job this weekend. Thanks again!!
