It's hard to really describe how to decide on an area to start with or what to play with, so I gave a number of top player examples to show that no matter what area you choose, you can still be good at the game. I explain that area is preference, give some tips on how to start off with finding a good area and other pieces of advice that may help you with area.

Installing Hawku's Drivers:
1. First uninstall any tablet drivers that you may have installed already
2. The drivers that I personally use are Devocub's Drivers (forked from Hawku) because they have anit-chatter and smoothing settings that the original Hawku drivers do not. Link: github.com/Devocub/TabletDriv...
3. Extract the file and run install_vmulti_driver.bat to install the drivers.
4. Open up TabletDriverGUI.exe and you should be good to go, if your tablet isn't detected and it may be the XP Pen G640 Rev B, go to my XP Pen video. If your tablet is a Gaomon S620 and these drivers don't work, then go download InfinityGhost's Drivers. Link: github.com/InfinityGhost/Open...

When I was recording this I had a really bad throat lol, but I decided to push this video out anyway ^^ I kept saying length to width when I actually meant width to height, which is a lot better to say. Also the outro proportions are terrible, I thought youtube would allow me to place the elements in better places but I just can't apparently lol.

Wow, this video is actually so helpful. I’ve been bouncing between areas for months now and constantly debating with myself about if my area is good or not, but now I know that it is simply preferential. It doesn’t matter if you full area or use a box.

really good video, i can confirm that it really helps to start with a kinda "standart" area from the top players and change it from there until you feel confident ^^ (did it with the whitecat area and played a bit until i liked it, was a bit too big and square like but now i finally found something which im sticking to, only changing it a little little bit from time to time) i think the quality of these videos is pretty awesome so keep up the good work :D

I bought my tablet for art. Realized I could use it to play osu instead of mouse, and I used the full area, as I did for art. I didn’t realize I was in a category of people so deemed to be chads. I’m proud of myself for getting so good with this area :). (I’m at like 4 star 90% accuracy and been playing a week on tablet)

This video has reminded me that i use a smaller tablet area than i thought. Most of the time i use somewhere around 40-43 mm long side with a standard monitor ratio. Sometimes ive gone smaller and it was fine.

this was incredibly helpful!! if any of yall are thinking of switching from mouse to tablet and you're ready to drop money on one (or already have one, hi fellow digital artists) then MAKE THE SWITCH!! i've been playing with tablet for a few days after only using mouse and not only is it easier to aim its also easier on your wrists. but of course, you can still get high level with mouse, too!!

Actually you can use the ingame Mouse speed setting to make further ajustments if you tend to accidentally leave the area. But dont forgt to set it back to normal when you get used to tablet aim

i used this so-called virtual tablet for android, it works great with my dragging style and the area was pretty big, decided to bought a real tablet, transferred my virtual tablet area, and it doesn't work, just doesn't, so here I am, watching this video trying to find my ideal area, and your tips is accurate, just follow the vids, you'll find yours

I feel that the perfect area is when you can hit everything and don't get tired, both small and large gaps, and try 16:9 aspect ratios first. I'm trying to find a good area for myself rn, this really helps

i have a really good area and its really good for jumps and feels hella smooth for flow aim. my grip compliments this but sometimes i find myself struggling to hit corners and have to reajdust my whole grip

I use... uh... a 25x30mm area. Yeah my area ratio is 0.833, yeah it's taller than it is wide. Idk what to say It used to be smaller though, and I am working on making the area larger because while I can play just fine when I'm calm, when the slightest bit of nerves come to me or a bit too much exhaustion in my aim hand and I shake so much I can't FC But I do like this aspect ratio Edit: Wow times have changee for me. I now use forced aspect ratio and 160mm width. Fixed aspect ratio helps me read since I can literally feel if my aim is at the right angle just from the movement of my hand, while before I couldn't do that, it was purely visual. Also my shake due to nerves is so bad that anything other than a very large area kills my aim

I have terribly short fingers so hitting long horizontal jumps felt impossible with my tablet area (80mm x 55mm) , and I was scared to make it smaller for ages because I thought it would be better to just struggle with long jumps than it is to have a small = inconsistent area. I am very thankful for stumbling across this video and finding out that that's not the case at all and some of my all time favourite players play with areas that I am either comfortable with or are too small even for me. Crazy to think I currently use a wayyy smaller area then some of the top players o.O 40mm * 30.73mm 1.302:1(I started tablet with something as small as 19 * 14 LMFAO) Might experiment and bump my area up in increments to see if I feel comfortable or like it more then what I'm using right now. :D

I switched a week ago and I fully adapted from mouse to tablet in like an hour. All you need to do is to translate your mouse dpi to tablet area through some trial and error. At first you will need to hold the pen closer to the tip so the movement is guided closer to that of a mouse. Once you get used to it, you can climb the grip a little higher. Also, don’t try to hover, unless you are a weirdo that can hover with a mouse. My only problem is that I can’t quickly readjust if my pen slips even a little. I still need to find a grip that’s fully stable.

i play with a 5:4 monitor and wacom ctl-472, my area is 42mm x 33.600002mm, in open tablet driver it shows 1.25 ratio i guess. i find it a very good area to play, where i dont have to move my hands too much on jumps and i can hit more consistently. note: use a antichatter plugin if your tablet does not come with one

When I first started playing with tablet at about 300k rank, I used a small active area. After about 50k, I decided that I wanted to make it bigger, because I was already pretty bad at jumps, and the small area didn't really help with that. I also really death gripped my pen to be able to control it better. (I also switched from drag to hover somewhere in that time.) Like any sensible person would do, instead of making the area a bit bigger, I just went FULL AREA. That didn't last long. After that, I made the area a bit smaller, but still rather large for me. Still felt too big, so I made it a bit smaller again, but still much bigger than my original active area, and that's what I use now. I don't really death grip my pen anymore, and I'm a lot better at jumps than I used to be, but I'm still a bit behind in aim compared to my fellow 30k players. Gonna be doing some aim training in the coming weeks, and hopefully, I will be able to be more consistent with my aim.

Ive found this video after practising for 2 hours with a table (used to play mouse only) and actually my aim is alright for my level with the area I have just chosen randomly, the problem is that my left hand cant keep up, becuase I didnt use my keyboard before it felt like I've just started playing for the first 30 minutes. Now I can clear some 3.6 stars, (which I have fc's on with mouse) but my acc is still dogshit.

Here's a question I got my tablet just the other day and after hit and trial i got to a area of 35mm(fixed ratio) but the thing is shoud i get used to it or change it somewhat large area cause my inner self is telling me not to use too small area since all players you mentioned have way bigger area.

I had no idea top players used areas so big. I just measured what my area is and it's about 10-12 mm on each side. I'm feeling comfortable with it because I just have to move my hand and not my arm but I'm also not as consistent as I'd like to be because nerves are very hard to overcome. Do you think it's a problem ? I know I can definitely improve my consistency by playing long maps since I came back to the game recently but I was j,ust wondering.

In my opinion the best way to figure out your perfect tablet area is by drawin on a sheet of paper while pretending to play a map and adjust the play area by what you have drawn

My osu tablet are is TINY, it is only 20, but I find that I like it better when I don't have to move my hand as much. The grip I use is Whitecat's, except I hold it lower and the top joint of my pointer finger is almost pressed against the pen.

I’m forced to use full area on my XP-Pen tablet because I use a drawing screen tablet. Uninstalling and installing the driver is just a pain in the ass. I lower the aspect ratio of my Osu window to compensate. Idk if that’s a common thing or if Osu players just use full screen. It works somewhat for me. I’ll get rid of forcing the cursor to be in the window on the game options and see if it helps.

I'm literally just watching this to find out what people use, knowing full well I'm doing full area and using my arm instead of my wrist to get better at using the tablet for art lmao
