Time for a fairly detailed breakdown on how to get to grips with tablet (heheheh epic pun get it XDXD). If you're new to tablet then follow these series of videos as I explain and showcase many different tablet playstyles that may inspire you if you're stuck on what to do! !!! IMPORTANT !!! Note 1: Someone pointed out that my WhiteCat grip attempt wasn't close to WhiteCat's, so here's another image if you think that I've got it wrong: gyazo.com/a2d38bedb42c3694f700941652957a9b It just goes to show that hand shape and size means that copying other people's grips isn't the best idea after all, so please go with something that you're comfortable with! Note 2: I forgot to mention shige's (Cookiezi) grip as well NOOOO!!!! He uses a dynamic quadrupod grip with the pinky finger to support his hand as it rests on the tablet: gyazo.com/e4818719b7fad82bdd30eb4a781d8d36 Note 3: I think someone got confused between ‘grip’ as in gripping the pen with your hands and ‘grip’ as in wrapping tennis overgrip around your pen. I've been anchoring my elbow on my chair's armrest, keeping my hand and arm in the air, using little wrist movement and a lot of arm movement, pressing the pen straight down on the tablet and dragging. It's really comfortable but I fear that I can never be very precise doing this as increasing my tablet area any further than I have already makes me lose tight control of my aim, yet the way it is now I can't make cross-screen jumps. hvick's grip looks promising, I might try that.

search Kit Kittington playing Tijdmachine on youtube, I think its the same grip as yours. dont believe he did any scores in the last 7/8 years but it still a pretty good score especially considering how long ago he did it

interesting video, even though I've known my grip and area for nearly 8 years. I use something close to the lateral tripod but very slightly less angled to the left at "rest" and I use the full area of my tablet. when I am in a corner, the pen is pointed toward that angle, rather than staying always the same direction.

This guide was very helpful! I found out I'm a lateral quadrupod guy, it's really comfy and I can play full songs without my wrist getting sore every time or so.

I stopped using my pen grip for about 2 weeks because of the pain it causes in long periods and how it restricted my movement. After that I moved to a lateral tripod type grip but more to the side kinda like mathi's grip but lower and it's pretty much perfect for me it just took about a week to get used to it fully.

Well said, i personally use the quad grip with the thumb wrapping around the entire grip. Now i really cant think of anyone that uses this grip apart from hugofrost but what i just realized is that ur grip really influences ur area because my area is so similar to hugofrost. Note that i didnt copy hugofrosts area, i was just doing what tonehh said on his area video which is trial and error. I tried 80 but it was too slow so i went with 75, still too slow and went for 60 then got comfy with it.

I use "the grip" its where you take the pen and grip it with 4 of your fingers and put the thumb on top of them

The thumb grasp grips the most comfortable for me I've been using the lateral tripod grip since its the most comfortable at the time but my thumb hindered the movements and just didn't feel right but the thumb grasp grip solved it just need getting use too.

I started off with the "Dynamic Quadrupod" because that's how I normally write, but ended up switching to the "Lateral Quadrupod" because I found it easier to aim.

I was used to take the lateral quadrupod and discovered by this video that this is the one of the mrekk. But also like a lot whitecat grip which hurts me less so I'm hesitating

I really appreciate the video, I started back in September last year and got to 70k by April, but I didn't deserve it. I farmed to keep up and beat friends, but after a forced 3 month break (stoopid covid) from osu, I am left in the dirt, and am trying to reinvent myself by going back to only 4 stars and changing my grip. I had hit a massive wall where my playing was garbage on all fronts, and my pen grip style was hurting and cramping a lot. Also no matter what direction I put the buttons on the pen, they would always find a way to get pressed by my thumb or fingers causing my aim to wobble a ton, so pen grip is kinda useless. I had seen other grip types in the past, but this video was the only one that went in depth with it. Good video, well made, and it is going to help me a lot as I experiment.

@Thatguys Is very dead My grip is much more solid now and I am just as good or better than I was when I stopped farming. But I haven't played online in so long that my rank is back around 95k. That's right, I am a dirty offline player now! is gaem, plz enjoi.

i am running into a wall, when i am playing osu my hands starts turning from an comfy position and ends in an uncomftable position (1 minute into the map) where after some hours my hands starts to hurt. cuz it keeps turning into an uncomfy position

I use the dynamic tripod but then when I tense my grip my pinky, ring, and my middle finger starts to fuck up my palm (if you don't know what I meant I meant they start to press again my palm to the point hurts)

Pleaseee, I have ordered a tablet anddd I am a left handed person, but since I use my left hand to tap, I'm not sure whether to change my tapping hand, I have no clue whether to practice my right hand to aim the pen or to get back to the basics to get used to right hand tapping, gimme your advice. I use a hybrid of cookiezi and whitecat's grip where I hold my pen with my thumb and have my pinky and the bottom since I hover

I just hold my pen like I would a regular pencil. I've been doing it long enough so that it doesn't hurt or get sore anymore, so that's nice.

I played with one grip for 7-8 months, but last month my hand hurts bad and i cant play. Any grip that i try feels very uncomfortable because i used to my grip. It is really sad, i am thinking about switching back to mouse even.

In my case I use a dynamic tripod, I used to do a similar grip but with my thumb's first joint bent inwards, but since then I've adapted the grip to put less pressure on my thumb, like the grip in the video. If I were to be a grip supremacist, it would be because you can use the tips of your fingers rather than the middles of them to guide the stylus, which means finger movement would have better control with less force. But if you use your wrist to move that doesn't matter.

As i started playing osu i used the 5 finger grasp grip and after half a year i switched to the ryuk grip.

what is definition of comfortable grip? my grip already comfortable but some pattern hard to follow consistently and end up pen slipping lower and lower...mostly tech or long map 6-7*...is this my grip fault (does i need to change it)or just my hand need to get used of it

Is this just me but, i use a dynamic tripod grip but whenever i play long maps, my thumb goes higher and it turns into a lateral tripod grip, and somehow it feels natural, but whenever i start playing directly with a lateral tripod grip, it doesnt feel right

should still be a lateral quadrupod, though the names aren't the main point of the video - rather it should help inspire people to find some grips to start off with, so don't dwell on it too much!

To be honest, I've fucked up plays and also have had various bad days because I felt like I wasn't holding the mouse, but just moving it around without actually having a hold of it. I'm planning on getting a tablet because it seems fun. If I have problems with mouse, I will with tablet, but so be it.

ok so my problem is, I am cross dominant, I use a different hand for different tasks. I have always written left handed, but holding my pen left handed when playing osu! just feels super awkward, so naturally I started using my pen right handed for osu but I just can't seem to find a comfortable grip because I have never really written with my right hand. any tips for me so I can find a grip that allows me to be comfortable and accurate?

tbh quad pengrip is my main pengrip but when time passes it's kinda weird that i use that because i can't remember how i hold my pen while playing osu

i feel like no matter what grip i use, nothing changes, if i try to do a spinner the pen gets extremely low down on my hand, to the point where i am touching the nib, my natural position is terrible for this, and all of these feel extremely uncomfortable especially for being left handed

i went with pencil grip at like 3mm higher and it hurt a lot at start but i've improved and i'm able to do 4.5 stars and up on mouse i only could do les than 4 and no improving

Fredie Bensons grip is a lateral tripod grip but it is at an angle, this forms when you point the pen downwards instead of upwards like umbres.

I'm left handed, I use whitecat's grip, except I am a dragger and my whole hand is on the air except my pinky finger, I use my pinky finger as some kind of tripod cuz if my hand is floating and I play osu for 4hours it is gonna be painful

And what about left handed people? Is it better to hold the pen in left hand or right hand cause i just got my first tablet and when i hold it in left hand its more comfortable to aim but less for clicking and when i hold it in right hand its more comfortable to click but less to aim.

I have a question to the grip i have a grip that i feel very comfortable with and i can aim well with it. The only problem ist that if i play a song thats intense or goes beyond 1:30 minutes i start to slide down on the pen until my finger is a the pen tip and then i just lose is there any way i could like get better grip to not slip off like that?
