I love the Tony Roach stories..some may have mentioned him..but you knew him well and those stories are excellent. Him being my Dad's cousin.. although we were young kids around him..he always was a gentle giant..my dad later told us otherwise. Thanks for the memories

My father knew him too. He used to go to black night clubs and would gamble until the sun came up. He was crazy as cat shit though they all said. He’d fight anybody at the drop of a dime !!!

The Bergin hunt crew used to have a softball game every year. The Fatticos each had a team and the first pick was always Tony Roach. I guess he was a really good athlete when he was younger and was the best player out of the crew.

I had to rewind this story twice it’s so good! I love Fat Andy stories! You tell stories with such animation.. I was picturing this as a scene in a movie. It’s so awesome to hear how much your father was respected on the street. He’s my favorite of all the LCN characters, once I cross over through the pearly gates I’m gonna look him up. Great Story...My favorite family was the Gambino's and Tony Roach was as hard as a gangster as they come for just being an associate and not a made man. I've seen several videos about him but this is a good story of you guys.

Fat Andy was well respected from all the families.. he did impossible missions that’s why everyone feared him.. The Ruggiano’s , Gotti’s and the DeCicco’s , their families all come from my area in Italy, Benevento/Napoli

My Grandmother owned an apartment house on 99th street and rented one of the apartments to the "guys in the club". I remember as a young boy watching Tony Roach going up the dark stairwell of the apartment house. I was fascinated by how he looked. It was like seeing a real life Dracula. But he was always very nice to us kids.

Hi Anthony, in a treatment center up in the Bronx called PROMESA. It was 1984 or 1985. I was there when the FBI arrested him in the John Gotti case. The FBI rounded up 8 or 9 guys that day. It was a Tuesday. I remember the day because the treatment center used to take some of the residents out to Queens to play basketball on Tuesday nights. I grew up in the life, I am from Arthur Ave. My dad was Ralohie Machine, and he used to report to Frankie Locaso.

It always amazes me how with these guys, such small things as paying a debt, can possibly turn into a major situation at the drop of a hat(well...in this case a pair of glasses). My hats off to these guys for living day in and day out with death lingering right there by their side.

Great story!! Very surprised they kept him around seeing he was a heroin user.. I remember reading (I think from Sammy's 302s) that at one point when Roach got pinched John & Sammy were trying to think what to do cuz they weren't sure he was gonna stay strong because of the addiction and that he'd be locked up going through withdrawals.. But in the end he didn't go bad and I guess it proved to them he was "true" to cosa nostra

I read somewhere he offered to give police info because he was dope sick and was desperate to get out on bail. The police dragged their feet and Tony changed his mind about cooperating.
