I agree. I mean first of all it has respected. Second While experiencing a Tool composition There’s so many things in terms of layers and complexity that can get lost. There’s different layers within this song in terms of each band member doing the Fibonacci sequence including Menard in terms of his accents on the beat Ryans music and then they all come together at the end of each section.. The colors black and white most have come to consensus it’s a progression through time starting with an infant you see in black-and-white one of the big themes within the Tool world is the spiral. Anyway it is for you to read into that’s why Maynard writes these great works of art is to challenge the listener.. Always know Menard is challenging you and sometimes even leading you down a rabbit hole.. For example Stinkfist and Pushit. It’s been pretty funny to watch some of the reactions on those two. in the tool community that’s known as spiraling out of control.

Gabriel Lucas i think that Tool is an intresting band if you have musical knowledge.. play an instrument. because then you know what is happening. in my opinion, tool is just one big metal jam session. Adam and Justin provide the riffs and Dany arranges the song and Maynard is a dick.

Anyone who first discovers Tool, and who has ANY appreciation for the intricate and amazing nature of Tool and their musical ability in general, soon realizes that once they hear their sound find themselves beyond the “event horizon”......permanently drawn into them without the ability to ever hear music the same again. Once you hear Tool, their sound becomes the benchmark by which ALL other music is measured. It is this way for me, and I find I am consistently disappointed by music by other groups simply because I find myself measuring it against what I consider the apex of sonic perfection, Tool....

I notice so many people have this theory about the colors and the relation to some kind of trip. It's more simple than that I believe. When we are born we first only see in black and white shapes. As our eyes develop we start to see colors. Really it seems so obvious that the song shows us that to truly grow we need to take chances, push the envelope as is stated. Some of the lyrics show us what impedes our quest for growth and some how we may achieve growth. The spiral refers to the pattern produced in nature according to the golden ratio, thus as with nature we should spiral out, or keep going (growing).

I've been a Huge Tool fan since 1994 and love watching people's reaction when they get the taste of Tool... They are hooked as I was :) Who know that 10,000 Days was how long we had to wait for maybe the final Tool album.

Tool's song greatly benefit from multiple listens and get better with each one. There is a reason they've been around for 27 years (1991 I think) and will defiantly withstand the test of time.

Tool = Brain music. I've never heard anyone put it like that but it's an excellent way of putting it. I love your analysis on this video and it seems to be very genuine. It's my first time here and I look forward to more of your content. Thanks for putting the time in.

Black and white is the first colors babies see, then red and yellow as they get older, then the full spectrum of color by the time they are no longer infants. The purpose of the song is to always be reaching outside the box. The references to the spiral are because so many things in nature look like spirals, including our galaxy. Riding the spiral to the end is riding the spiral in our galaxy never knowing what happens next.

The colors stand for the colors a baby is able to see as it eyes develop after birth. Hence the ultrasound in the first of the song. In this song it represents progression and growth of the mind as a person embraces the randomness of life.

Fckgogle Pluss agreed. That and Rosetta Stoned(which he already did and didn't seem to like it much). He needs some basics. Stinkfist, parabola, the patient, sober, opiate, pushit, H.

Hey man, these have been my favourite band since I saw them in 2002. Ive never obsessed over a band so much and its good to see a similar reaction. Listen to Lateralus front to back, with all the interludes. Then Aenima and 10,000 days. They will consume you and everything else you listen to will pale in comparison. Enjoy my friend. Enjoy.

Yo. Let the tears come. Trust me, I get it. Still gives me chills. Listening to Tool with good sound is an emotional experience. Oh and I once read that the earliest forms of the human eye began with identifing simple black and whites. Then came red and yellow... get it, spiral out... evolve. Desire to feel connected, push the envelope, bathe in the fountain... live life to it's fullest...

A lot of Tool songs take you on a journey, I would have to add Parabol/Parabola to that list. An epic combination of melodic lyrics and complex music, I think you would really enjoy it. One of my all time favorite Tool songs.

First off, I want to say it is so kool to see so many people who understand music so we'll! I am a lyrics person and I felt as though he was describing the desire to see the world through the simplicity of a child's eyes. As adults we complicate things.

I've been thinking of making a video or something in defense of reaction videos. I used to hate them, but only through videos of people reacting to Tool have I realized how entertaining they can be. I've listened to Lateralus for, what, 18 years now, and even though it stands the test of time, it's never quite like I heard it the first time. This song really changed my life. I still spiral out. It made me better. Watching people experience it for the first time reminds me of the effect it had on me. It's like showing a video to your friend that you really find meaningful, and seeing if they enjoy it too. It's to feel connected.
