Honestly, I really liked Black Adam. I had no desire to ever see it because I am completely burned out on comic book hero movies, and I'm not that big of a Dwayne Johnson fan. Love him in the WWE, but as an actor he's been more miss than hit for me. However, my wife turned it on when HBO started streaming it, and it was good. It is the first Comic book movie I liked since the Deadpool movies. It's not as funny, but it's still good.

I'm pretty sure the main reason Strange Worlds bombed is because no one had even heard of it until they had heard it was a bomb. Before seeing it on this list, I thought it was live action. That's how little marketing it had. Now I might watch it. Also, Unbearable Weight was GLORIOUS! It was brilliantly stupid and Cage Caged all the Cage that could be Caged. It's easily a contender for his best film and performance(s) ever.

All took their roles seriously and have the acting chops… too bad DC seemingly didn’t have a proper roadmap to their expanded universe and opted to just make movies and figure out the tie-ins later… or better stories written

With Oppenheimer and Barbie opening on the same weekend, July 21st, 2023, my gut feeling tells me that Barbie is definitely gonna be a huge hit, though I think that Oppenheimer will still be successful. My belief is that a historical film about the father of the atom bomb would lack mainstream appeal compared to a wholesome rom-com that is based on a very popular doll line. Not to mention, that we're in the intellectual property age of Hollywood.

I knew that bob burgers would bomb because I’m not a fan of that show and it felt more for streaming movie then a cinematic movie too. I’m so surprised that black Adam bombed I thought it would do good even have the rock as the main star too. I like fantastic beast 3 secret of Dumbledore even with its flaws too etc.

Some of the best films in recent history were financial bombs, but I’m thankful that they were made. Blade Runner 2049 comes to mind, and I trust that two great theater watches from 2022 will be appreciated for years to come: The Northman, Babylon.
@heronumber009

Yeah, it's quite sad something like the Northman ddin't do well at the box office. But I guess due to the pandemic, this is a risky time for big budget movies, unless you have a big brand like MCU. Stuffs like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder still success, while the Northman failed, that's something... really sad. Luckily the Northman was able to make money through other means.

@@sirtaelellevalerie1056 Thor: Love and Thunder budget was about $250 mil, and it made $760.9 mil at the box office, which was over 3 times its budget (not counting money from other means). So I don't think it's a flop, at least financially.

 @heronumber009 theatres take about 45-50% of revenue on average. +marketing budget, which, for movie like that, can be in the hundreds of millions. Even if it wasn't outright flop, it definitely wasn't successful.

It didn't make enough to break even, so yes, although I too enjoyed it a lot, it was a flop. But there's more to the story: WB was REALLY counting on China to have a success as Johnson is loved here. BUT, when Black Panther 2 was denied a release in China, Disney (in its usual petty behaviour) sent a very old pic of then The Rock, wearing a HK or Tibet pin (or something like that) to the Chinese board responsible for the theatrical release of foreign countries films (whatever its name is), knowing (HOPING) it would probably cost Black Adam's release. And it did. This "if we don't have a release, no-one should" attitude is typical Darth Mouse.
