Hi Dan.. My favorite concert was my very first concert.. The Jimi Hendrix Experience in Kansas City in 1968.. Electric Ladyland had just been released.. My mind was blown.. Being 71 years old I have been fortunate to have seen all the greats.. Bobby Gass and I have seen them all.. Garen

My head would explode trying to list them all - Ween, Jethro Tull (with Procol Harum opening), Neil Young (with Booker T and MGs backing him, Soundgarden and Blind Melon opening), Daniel Johnston, Polyphonic Spree, Kinks (backstage passes, watched ON STAGE in a VIP section), Beck (Apples in Stereo opening), Mazzy Star (Sparklehorse Opening), John Cale (with Stereolab opening), Double Bill of Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Awesome video Dan!! I wish I got to see INXS. I liked them but didn’t truly appreciate them til much later. The band that stood out from your list was the Mooney Suzuki. I’ve seen them a few times, always good, but one time in particular they absolutely destroyed. I think they were opening. Middle size rock club 100-200 people were there. They were on total fire! Felt like I saw the Who in 1966!! Enjoyed this video very much!! Cheers, Jon

A couple of my top 10. 1975 Cleveland Stadium, World Series of Rock - Rod Stewart & the Faces, Uriah Heep, Aerosmith, Blue Oyster Cult and Mahogany Rush. I believe tickets were $12.50. Lol. 1975 Stanley Theater Pittsburgh - Kansas. Springsteen 4 Times. Great vid. ✌️

I started seeing shows in 65’. That’s when the screaming was at its peak! Been very fortunate to have seen so many over the years. Boils down to four mind blowage shows. Any Ravi Shankar show I’ve seen. Frank Zappa w/Tony Bozio on drums as a four piece band! Led Zeppelin w James Gang opening in 69’. By the way the James Gang blew them off the stage. Pink Floyd in 72’ with quadraphonic PA setup! I’m sure I’ve forgotten more than I could remember. 🖖🚀

Wonder if Zeppelin's manager Peter Grant had The James Gang pulled from the opening slot? That's what he did when Grand Funk Railroad up staged Zeppelin.

@@rockinronist good question. That was the first and only time I saw Zep. The reason it was such a memorable show was I never heard of the Gang before. They were playing their first lp with the original bass player. Crazy off the hook show.

One more I flashed on baby! I saw Henry Rollins in the early 90’s at Slims ( a very cool club in the citySF) doing an amazing stand up social commentary thing. Blistering as if he was playing w/ Black Flag. Wow thanks for triggering my burned out brain-o-scope! 🖖🚀

Dan also so the most Reverend Horton Heat a couple of times in the 90’s outstanding stuff, and the Beastie Boys slayed their show and the last show I saw before Covid was The Offspring in Edmonton I flew out to go with my brother, punk rock shows bring the energy. The first show when I was thirteen was The Who (Who’s Last tour - liars lol) and the loudest show was Gordie Johnson of Big Sugar fronting his new band Grady my ears still aren’t right

My Bloody Valentine, Bristol Loveless tour and Rollercoaster, Cardiff 90/91 Raconteurs Eden Project - Jack White's solo on Blue Veins blew my mind! Phoebe Bridgers on the garden stage Green Man Festival. Aldous Harding, Totnes upstairs in a tiny crammed room, couldn't really even see her, but could feel the intensity! Air/Super Furry Animals, Eden Project, Cornwall. Magical. Oh Sees, Bristol, thunderous. Bubbling under Smashing Pumpkins w The Verve Siamese Dream tour. Hey Dan. It's so hard to narrow down my top level shows, since I've been to literally hundreds of concerts. Whittling down just the over 100 Grateful Dead shows in the late 1980s to mid-90s would be daunting. Let me think about it for awhile and get back to you. Hmmmmmm

For some reason, I’ve always been a little underwhelmed by live music even though I’ve seen many bands whose albums I love. I’m maybe a little weird, but I always don’t see the point of artists re-creating their songs onstage, playing the hits, and crowds over-emoting and basically celebrating their own coolness. I much more appreciate the time and place and conditions and craft that go into birthing an album in the studio. It’s more like a novel or painting captured for all time. So, the only point of a concert for me is total immersion in a sound world. So, my most memorable concert in this vein was the Butthole Surfers at the 9:30 Club here in D.C. (still exists). It blew the roof of my head off.
