There's two things you need to do: 1. build muscle aka the metabolism boosting - calorie burning body tissue. 2. learn how to track macros and eat at calorie deficit - the three building blocks of calories. Try 30% of total calories fats, .8-1g of protein per body weight, and the rest carbs. If this is confusing, start learning it now. Surprisingly you can eat better and more than you think, if home cooked. Also, mostly every item he listed here you can eat, and are eaten by those people who successfully lose weight. Make sure you get into the habbit of buying groceries every week, cooking your meals every day - this active activity will help you be hand on regarding tracking. Eat for fuel for physical and or cognitive endeavors and post recovery only, no boredom eating nor eating for fun (yet - only when youve earned it by building enough calorie burning muscles).

Whew!! The deli meats portion was a concern. I eat a lot of Prosciutto Parma so I had to go to their website and verify what I’d seen on the label. Zero anything. Only sea salt used in the curing process. Rinsed with warm water and lard applied to aid in the final curing, but no additives of any kind and the animal is specifically raised to a higher standard. So glad I can keep eating this!

When Sucralose came out I started using it on everything. I made lemonade, I used it in my coffee, I put in dessert recipes, I consumed it in large quantities. I then started losing weight fast. I was urinating almost non-stop. I developed an insatiable thirst. I was to the point that I started checking my blood glucose levels thinking I was a diabetic. Then it hit me that I was not hyperglycemic, but I was “hyper-Sucralosemic”! All symptoms resolved when I stopped consuming Sucralose. It behaved like an osmotic diuretic in my body. I believe that they should post a maximum “dose” on the package.

If there's 0.4999 grams or less, you get to round down and call it zero. Isn't that great? We should apply that idea in other areas of life. If you're an athlete, for example, you don't have to cross the finish line. You can stop three meters short of it and just say you finished. If you're building houses, you can cover the roof with tar paper and skip the shingles. It's close enough.

Everything in moderation! Including advice. Many of the items on this list are just fine if you make them yourself. Bread is an ancient food that humans have been consuming for thousands of years with few negative health effects. Bake your own bread at home and you'll eliminate most of the problems described here. The same goes for fruit juice. Buy a good blender and make your own. It tastes better than the prepackaged stuff in the store and it's good for you.

Fruit juice is not good whether natural or bottled. Fruits are over-rated. Naturally we find more vegetables than fruits. Hence, we follow nature. Fruit is an occasional delicacy not a necessity. Exactly, I lived in the UK for 15 years and their diet has took a toll on me, I have developed serious IBS symptoms, so I was forced to change my diet, since I did it I feel a lot better. I’ve started to basically eat only foods that have retained their natural appearance, i do not eat processed foods a part from rice. I do indeed spend a bit more but I have to admit I feel a lot better and I will save up in future medical bills. I buy fresh free range eggs from a farmer near my house, I only buy Swiss free range organic beef or chicken from the butcher once a month ( I live in Switzerland) I buy fresh fruits and vegetables that are seasonal and locally grown from a cheap farmers market near me, they deliver a full box for $10 every week, I try to eat raw vegetables as much as I can (carrots, peppers, tomatoes and spinach’s) I only drink tap water and I filter it with my Brita caraffe, I stay away from breads, butter, cheeses, the only thing I still eat that is made with dairy is natural yogurt. I also eat a lot of fish, I avoid Nordic wild or raised fish since the Nordic sea is the most polluted. I mean it is hard work but processed foods are overfilled with all these weird ingredients that I have to avoid completely.

"A labelling trick, called LYING" genius. I learned that labelling trick the painful way many times over when trying to clean up my eating due to allergies to wheat, gluten, yeast, back in 2005. I found out, painfully, that the food companies do not have the consumer's best interests at heart and the only way to eat was whole foods. That doesn't mean it's been smooth sailing, with the advent of better gluten free products and better labelling (at least in the UK), I've stacked on the weight, going from very slim to being 40+ lbs overweight. Hence here I am relearning everything 🤔🇬🇧

A phenomenon I've been noticing as well is a very soft "whole-wheat bread" being sold in markets. As a nurse, I always found that taking the time to read "nutritional information" facts on products was very scary. When you take the time to actually look up some ingredients, you realize you should not be putting poisons in your body. I once worked as a community health supervisor for the Red Cross and made it my mission to try and get low income people to eat healthier. It wasn't easy. I distinctly remember my mom buying margarine in the early 60's. It was basically white and came with a little bubble of orange colored liquid which you would mix into the margarine to color it. I don't even want to know what was in there 🙄 Thank you Dr for another amazing video.

It should be noted that not all tuna is created equal. The species of tuna that usually ends up in cans of "chunk light" tuna is skipjack tuna, which aren't that big and don't have a very long life span so they don't accumulate that much mercury. Albacore are much bigger, much longer lived, and can accumulate much more mercury. I generally avoid albacore tunas for that reason, every now and then won't hurt you but I wouldn't eat it multiple times per week. But regular canned tuna is pretty safe and I think if that's what you're eating a few times a week you're perfectly fine. There are other reasons to be concerned about canned tuna, namely the effect that overfishing a few species is having on the ocean ecosystem, but that's a different topic than the health of eating it.

Wow I was fed that unnamed soup my whole childhood...and my brother and I were obese and often sick. We were fed canned soup, sandwiches including lunch meat and pbj. Also chips and coke. Breakfast was chocolate milk and cupcakes. When I look back we're lucky we even got out of childhood.

Twenty years ago I started drinking cranberry juice thinking it was healthy and after my yearly checkup my doctor told me my lipid profile showed a high level of triglycerides. Stopped all juices including fresh squeezed orange I would sometimes have at breakfast. I always limited my sugar intake by avoiding all the obvious sources like soda, cakes and candy as I knew excess sugar was detrimental for health yet overlooked the high sugar content of fruits and especially fruit juices. Triglycerides dropped from 270 to 101 even though I still ate the occasional slice of watermelon or a very small slice of fruit pie and still managed to lose twenty pounds in three months. They tell you to eat your fruits and vegetables but I would say to watch your mangoes.

It is complicated. Labeling regulations, I don't remember the exact cutoff number, but if the "mg" is below a certain number, the label will round down. And even if it has a trace amount, like say 0.00001 grams, labeling requires you still list in ingredients. But the nutrition requires to be listed. And of course manuf will put 0g.

Some thoughts while watching: Scramble the letters in Agglutinin and it becomes "A Gut Lining". That's how to remember the connection. There was an advertising campaign years ago for a brand of potato chips: "No one can eat just one." Tic-Tacs advertise as being sugar free because they have 0.4999 gms per "serving" which is "one mint." We all know a real serving is "the whole container", or 100 mints = 49 gms/sugar,
