Correction on Hormuz: They do NOT start as a republic as was stated, they start as a Plutocratic Monarchy. You can see the Legitimacy mechanic in the gameplay when he's on Hormuz, not a republic.

I enjoy playing as Scotland. Scotland is very underrated because the AI always eats Scotland in 50 years or so, but I have played as Scotland many times, and you can easily conquer all of Ireland in 10 years or less, with no big aggressive expansion penalty. Then you’ll have around 180-200 development, and can take on England with no problems.

Hisn Kayfa is an interesting pick to attempt creating the turkish Rum with, after a culture shift. The Ayyubid ideas speak of a rising eagle, and the whole flavor text can also easily fit Rum if you don't swap ideas on formation.

A couple of underrated ones I would put forth are Madurai (3 province state in South India) and Lan Xang (though I feel like people know more so how powerful Lan Xang can be since they have more potential from the very start of the game.

In My Butua Game, Sofala Somehow Gained Independence Fairly Early On, So I Was Able To Seize The Coast And Actually Expand Better Without Needing To Betray Kilwa!

Not sure if it's actually underrated enough for this guide considering the nations you chose here but the formable nation of Nepal has insanely good militaristic ideas. Compared to some of those other nations Nepal is probably more well known which might explain its absence from this list, if it isn't that however it should definitely be on it. Another nation which is definitely underrated is Caddo in North America. The native ideas aren't unique or anything but Caddo is in a terrific position to really get going since they can also become Aztec(well Nahuatl) combining their native ideas with Nahuatl's permanent modifiers for some Iberian-esque colonial power to colonize the New World and push back the Europeans.

Naugar is underrated. I think. As naugar, you can expand by annexing dhundar and ally janpur. With other secondary Indian powers able to ally, an expantion to mewat or mewar (I forget) is very easy. Challenging, but fun.

You didn't mention that Kazan starts with a gold province! That helps a ton in early stages of the game, making you much stronger than the other hordes and able to take on Muscovy that much easier.

I hear that the oirat horde is now the best with the whole Tamun crisis event chain leading to a fairly god-like start.

Not sure if it's cheating to mention a nation from another one of your videos but I really like Madyas. Hindu Republic is really fun, it lets you be a lot more flexible and impulsive with your deity choice. It's really nice to be able to just turn on conversion, convert some provinces and then not have to worry about being stuck with that god for decades because you can just switch out your ruler a couple years later if you want. Plus being a republic means you can click a button and go pirate. Between your enhanced pirate navy and all of the money you make plundering China and the rest of Southeast Asia the nation can easily stomp its neighbors and take over all of the spice islands for even more money. It's also well placed to go colonize the west coast of the new world too. Maybe it's just that pirates are OP but I felt absolutely untouchable in my Madyas campaign.

Dunno if Oda is very known, but damn that are some overpowered military focused ideas. :)

Navarra. It get's an early pu cb against Aragon, which in turn also gives Naples (don't forget to take Aragon Provinces to get their lib desire < 50). This easily won by making Castille your ally. Furthermore if you conquer the state to the north of you (I think it's called Labourd), then you'll get a pu cb against France as well. Call Castille to arms, have your Aragon and Naples help you out and attack when they are at war with burgundy to make it even eaiser. Now it's backstab time on Castille.

Jaunpur and Mazandaran were extremely fun to play as when i tried them.

I think Naples is underrated. Even starting under a PU and having to expand on Papal and HRE lands, I think it's pretty strong and easy to get some strong allies and first expand. I was going for a chill game and ended up forming Rome for the first time with them, one of my best campaigns ever
