Hey, what's up guys at Sam tagger with DDT experts and DDD econ. And I'm going to go over the 10 tips for anybody getting into door to door. And the first one is realized. Door to door is awesome. It is one of the best vehicles you could ever get into and has changed hundreds and thousands of people's lives and they wouldn't be where they're at today without door to door. I mean, this goes back two generations ago and people such as Sarah Blakely, Paul Digiorgio and Mark Cuban and all these guys that have really, uh, dawn on to do some successful things all started here in Doro or sales because you learn the grit and the grind and the sales skills it takes to really be successful in life. The second tip is really simple. It's become a hunter versus a scavenger. Now, a lot of society jobs, they're actually very scavenger ESC.
What I mean by that is the hunters are out there, you know, going out and creating things, creating business, creating opportunities, and the scavengers are kind of there to pick it up. They're kind of there to put it in places. They're kind of, they're picking up the scraps. Door to door gives you the prime opportunity to become a hunter. The third tip, it's simply accept the challenge of door to door. Like you have to be able to say, this is going to be hard. This is going to not, this is going to test me in all elements physically, mentally, emotionally. You're going to have to travel. Maybe you're going to have to deal with rejection. There's so many things you deal with in this job except as a challenge. Say, I like doing hard things. I want to be uncomfortable. The fourth tip is welcome rejection.
If you welcome rejection as if it's going to happen, there's a quote by Bernay Brown that in order to create, you gotta be vulnerable in order to go be vulnerable, you gotta be willing to fail. You've got to be willing to accept this rejection. Number five, this is a sport, not a job. Now, a lot of people obviously do this to make money, but the reality is you're going to just make enough to survive in door to door just like any other job because that's what you're training your brain to do. But if you want to compete in and actually thrive and make more money than you've probably ever made in your life, you got to treat it like a sport. Go out to compete every day and stop looking at the paychecks because if you're competing in thrown in numbers, you're going to have healthy paychecks.
Number six, you have to have an hourly mindset versus just a commission mindset. The common problem that people get into when they get into a commission based job or door to door is they tend to live paycheck to paycheck, which means deal to deal the by things like, oh, that's just like one sale. I'll buy that. They all sell a lot and then they won't work for a week and then there'll be broke again. They'll sell a lot. They won't work for a week. There'll be broke again and they go through this salesmanship roller coaster is what we call it. So the reality is if you can treat this even though you're paid by the commission, if you can treat it like an hourly job, meaning no matter what I work, these desired hours, no matter what, whether I sold zero that day or I sold 50 that day, it doesn't matter.
I stick to the schedule even though in paid based on the deal. So if you have the mindset of I work the hours, no matter what it promised, you'll be a lot more successful than those that go on the salesmanship roller coaster. Number seven, excuses don't make you money. Now I hear every excuse in the book, it's hot, it's cold, I'm hungry. I need to have bad area. I don't have a car. I don't have this deal canceled, whatever. I hear every excuse. I've heard it all. It doesn't make you any money. Therefore, if you don't take extreme ownership, you're always going to be broken. This job, take ownership of your results because the reality, as long as you have a product to be delivered, you could go make money. Now, I've seen people sell in every type of neighborhood and every type of product and every type of situation and knows that have the hunter mentality say screw the excuses.

I was a US Navy recruiter, I also trained recruiters and evaluated them. I sold Cadillacs and then insurance, P&C, and all lines, but 80% P&C. Here's what my advice is on sales. The first is to know your product inside and out. Over 80% of your sales are based on product knowledge, that is fulfilling a NEED or a WANT, and knowing when there is a difference. When I sold Cadillacs we used to have what was known as Walk-Around competitions. The GM would have each of us do a walk around (Demonstrate all the major features and give key points within 4 minutes) on a certain model and then he would ask us different questions. Such as how much torque? How much room in the trunk, can I fit two bags of clubs? What size spare tires, what kind of tires, are they all season? Gas mileage, how much oil? How long is the corrosion warranty, etc? The fewer questions he asked, the better your walk around was. The walkaround had only one purpose, to build the value of the car to match the price. The top person got a 100 dollar bill. Second place got a 20, third got a 10. Next is PMA, Positive Mental Attitude, believing in your product, and yourself. Next, how to handle objections, what do you say when they say NO. How many objections should you handle before you say "Thank you for your time". And how to close by asking trial questions. For example, "So if we can get the car in the color you want, and give you so much for your trade, would that be enough to move ahead?" Or, "So, based on what you have seen heard does this sound like something you are interested in pursuing?" If they say yes, stop selling, they just bought.

First and foremost thank you for your service ! I’m a 4 year Army veteran myself and I had two interviews recently involving door to door sales and so far it sounds like I’m about to get the job. I’m glad I took the time to read your comment. Very constructive and I love how you went in detail and shared your personal experience with Cadillac. It makes perfect sense for anyone selling a product to know all about what it is they’re selling to establish trust between them and the clients they interact with. I’m going to take the time to research the company products and a few competitors as well that way I’m as equipped as possible when it comes to knowledge of the products I’ll be selling. I appreciate you for sharing this man.

@@ccoldtruths7855 Door to door is tough, and with Ring cameras now don't be surprised when they don't even open the door. If I were you and you really wanted to get into sales, I would recommend going to a large dealership and seeing if they are hiring. Most dealers have a training program. I went through the Cadillac program, and it was extremely hard. You should also look into insurance, you have to take a test to see what your personality is (They are looking for people who are motivated by money.) See if MetLife or Prudential is hiring. But first I would read up on Zig Zigler and also a book called Sell the Sizzle. Here's tip, everyone has a Dominant Buying Motive, and you should be able to identify it.based on what they tell you. Sales are fulfilling a need, that is what it all comes down to. I sold one of the first Escalades in my market to a guy who traded in a one-year-old El Dorado that we had sold him. He wanted to be the first one to show it off. That is a need and a want right there. My GM didn't want to sell the car, because no one had them on the lot, but the owner said to let it go.

Demonstrating your knowledge can all too often appear overconfident and overtalking. Keep it simple!!! You're full of crap man. Yes know IF THEY ASK. Don't look full of ego I know your kind. Try honey and be methodically honest and appear more full of integrity than the rest, by being honest. A smile sells too. Looks matter as well, looks are a privilege no joke, sometimes people have to polish turds. Themselves. I'm getting older and I'm lucky (or am I? I'm diciplined obviously, my muscles show it, yes it helps). Sometimes people judge immediately, "creepy". It's reality... men don't do it as much, but a pretty girl (with skills of course, sometimes no skill just HOT like realtors hire hot women because the market says what it says) sell more than one that's slovenly. Stats prove it.

Even without the best English, confidence and integrity win. There's different jargon with every service/item. I'm conservative. Yes I voted Trump. I respect people who learned more than one language. Watch, more conservatives will want your help than liberals (liberals are usually in an idealistic unrealistic prison in their minds and mostly work by the hour, depending where of course... I live in NC and I NEVER ONCE ran into a #racist like the "news" claims about Republicans. Propaganda, social media distorts reality. Conveniently narrated stories... ambulance chasers who assume racism instead of individuals arguing etc. (I'm sick of the Marxism and hate Democrats push and the fear of doom by climate change is unwarranted we have time to change and change pays. They use gas to power batteries don't let these statistic altering fools trick ya. I used to trust them, CNN, MSNBC, USA Today, NY Times, Times, Rolling Stone even! So much bias. Liars. Best wishes!

At age 60, locating a routine job is difficult. Canvassing areas around where we live makes sense. Most people are home during the weekends and at work on weekdays. There are about ten thousand homes in my Atlanta neighborhood. The Artison handmade soap will go for $7.00 each and my poetry book is priced at $15.00. I think a basic web site is a must as well. It is good to see younger people getting away from screens and going door to door. I have an advantage in that I live close by and don't mind telling people where to find me. I always dress up and use a cane to climb steps. Young people should also look presentable with a suit and tie or dress business attire for women. Use only three knocks or ring the bell. In other words, don't be loud and sound like a bill collector. I hope this helps. Please share your thoughts. Janet Busener

knock 1000 doors- then make that determination. I was the same way. It took me 2 days to knock my first door because of anxiety. Now Its second nature. Almost like a muscle memory.

It's your perception. Perception makes you feel like you can't, that leads how you would act at the job, that will determine your results. Change your perception and you will be fine. You got this

This one guy at my door sure didn't understand tip #4, no matter how many ways I said I wasn't interested he kept pestering me to validate my stance. Clearly he should have realized that after a certain point of attitude he was giving me that there was no way it was ever going to turn into a sale.

I’d say find a good market- if your selling a $15,000 water treatment system. Probably not gonna make many sales. Compared to a $200 product more outcome

You must be doing sales for the wrong companies. My friend owns a roofing company and her top sales earners are getting $5,000 bonus checks a month. BONUS CHECKS. That's on top of their commissions which is an outrageous amount. Trust me, people are making a killing in sales. But you're either good at it or bad at it 🤷🏻 I'm not good at it which is why I'm here trying to learn. But to say that you don't make good money is definitely laughable
