Twilight Zone is one of my absolute favorite songs. I remember waiting daaaays for it to play on the radio and being so happy when it did. It didn't get paid much here because of its length. Same with the totality of The Wall. They usually played it on Halloween

So weird to think that Madness are a 1 or 2 hit wonder in the US. But here in the UK they still sell out arenas. And i can vouch for how awesome it is to see them in that setting. Just pure happiness and love from thousands of people who are singing along to every word in every song.

As a UK watcher, I appreciate you sticking up for Madness here, Crash. I get the impression they're viewed as nothing more than a novelty stateside but they were so much more. Without Madness, there might not have been bands like Less Than Jake or Sublime but they get unfairly judged as the jokesters who did Our House and as much as I love that song, they have a lot of other great songs too. Songs like One Step Beyond, My Girl, Embarrassment, Baggy Trousers, Wings of a Dove, Michael Caine, The Sun and the Rain, The Prince, Night Boat to Cairo and especially House of Fun are very fondly remembered in the UK so hopefully you've encouraged a few people to dig into the band beyond their entry level US hits.

This was so educational to watch. I learned something new today. Bands that I thought were bigger, especially ones like Barenaked Ladies, Blue Oyster Cult, Skid Row, and Crowded House, turned out to only have two major hits here in the states. That proves us Americans don't give foreign acts (Barenaked Ladies, Crowded House, and Madness) their due even though they have better stuff than their best known hits. Thank you, Crash. I really enjoyed this. Cheers.

Veeeeeery much appreciate the inclusion of Blue Öyster Cult - as someone who indeed did pick up a Best Of collection from them around 12-ish years ago after hearing "Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll" on Guitar Hero III, I can safely say that songs like "Godzilla", "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" and "Joan Crawford" are phenomenal. They deserve way more love than just that one SNL skit, especially since I found out not long ago that they have a new album coming out this October. Also, all this talk of Crowded House, particularly showing the album cover for 1991's Woodface, and yet no mention of the catchy singalong titan of "Weather With You"? Awww, that song's brilliant!

But then I remembered, oh wait i'm an Aussie, and along with INXS and Midnight Oil, Crowded House is one of those bands that are like embedded into us at birth. That goes Doubly for INXS. I picked up a record of Kick for the first time, cause I really liked New Sensation and Kick, but man I swear I knew almost every song off that record. Man classic Aussie music doesn't get enough love nowadays. Check out Hoodoo Gurus if you're into Midnight Oil, they're less political and more rocky.

I almost had a heart attack when Crowded House came up as I truly love that band but yeah, I really recommend people also check out Crowded House's 2007 album "Time On Earth" and their 2010 album "Intriguer" along with the four earlier albums..check out all six studio albums..lol... I rate "Woodface" as Crowded House's best album (The band brought Neil Finn's brother Tim on board for that one) just ahead of the debut album. Deepcuts from Crowded House albums I recommend, one from each album: "Love You Til the Day I Die" (from "Crowded House") "Whispers and Moans" (from "Woodface") "In My Command" (From "Together Alone") "Never Be The Same" (From "Temple of Low Men") "Silent House" (The song Neil co wrote for the Dixie Chicks but it also ended up on "Time On Earth") "Archer's Arrows" (from "Intriguer") Fun Fact "Better Be Home Soon" was Crowded House's biggest hit in Australia, it peaked at number two on the Australian singles chart in 1988. Beaten to number one by John Farnham's "Age of Reason". "Don't Dream It's Over" would only peak at number eight in 1987. I think there was some talk of new music from the band a few months ago, they were hinting at it when they announced their now sadly postponed European tour dates due to the pandemic so yeah Crowded House are still around. Also worth pointing out another Aussie act called Icehouse had a hit in the late 80s with "Electric Blue"

Keeping up with the subject of Madness, I have to mention their song The Liberty of Norton Folgate which honestly at 10 minutes proved to me that they were more than an novelty act. The fact that this song and it's equally great album of the same title came out decades after their prime showed how great they could still be. Much love for KT Tunstall as well, her debut album was the first one I had bought by a female artist, pulling my head out of my ass thankfully on that note.

As always Crash, an absolutely fantastic, entertaining and informative video! - MAJOR RESPECT and props for highlighting and singing the praises of Barenaked Ladies, one of my favorite bands of all time, and one of the most underrated and under-appreciated acts out there!! It got into the HM’s but I instantly thought of Kim Wilde in the most “had two hits and exactly two hits in the U.S.” catagory. She had the perfect synth sound to attract at least that much attention.

Technically Fuel are a two hit wonder because both Shimmer and Hemorrhage (In My Hands) were highly successful songs. But they also had Bad Day and Falls On Me which were moderately known, and also Won't Back Down, Quarter and Sunburn which were featured in the soundtracks to Daredevil, Need For Speed Underground, NASCAR Thunder and Scream 3. But those two songs still ended up being their most popular.

Yeah, I'm from the newest video too. I thought it was just gonna be a cheap attempt at swaying votes by using his reveal but much to my surprise, he handled it with a lot more tact and grace than I thought. And he is right in that video, voting in Biden into office would definitely be an uphill battle. Quite frankly, I don't see it as likely at all. But even if they don't get into power, that doesn't mean the world is in a permanent state of 1984. Don't lose hope just because they lost.

I was visitng my cousin over in the uk during the summer months back in the 80s and we were at this store trying to pay for some ice cream but was a few pennies short so this man behind us plop down a paper note ( a pound, I believe) and paid for our ice cream. My cousin was all quiet and I was like "Wow, thank you sir". After we got on our bikes, my cousin said "Do you know who that was?" and I just shrugged and he said "That's Suggs! From Madness!" and I just nonchalantly went, "Cool" .

Crash, I have to hand it to you my man: I owe it all to you for getting me into Barenaked Ladies. I knew of them before you praised them in this vid, but last year was the fruition of that. Gordon was a great debut, but I ADORE Stunt (Call and Answer has straight up become one of my favorite songs of all time, period). These Canadian bois juggle happy-go-lucky energy and crushing seriousness (Break your Heart, and even Pinch me) so damn well.

100% agree with you on Finger Eleven. Tip and The Greyest of Blue Skies are amazing hidden gem albums but were overlooked, which is so damn depressing. Self-titled was good too but I think Stay In Shadow and Good Times should have been the big hits off of the album. One Thing was just a soft ballad and Paralyzer is forever associated with early KZfaq videos and Quagmire Toilet memes.

When I heard Blue Öyster Cult had another hit beyond Don't Fear The Reaper, I thought it'd be Godzilla. That seems to be the other song by them that most people know. Heck, it even got a cover for the Godzilla: King Of The Monsters soundtrack... with Serj Tankian of System of a Down doing the vocals! Seriously, look that cover up, it's one of those I'd say can compete with the original. And then I looked it up and... it never even charted at all. Yea, this seems to be a similar situation with Modern English's I Melt With You, where everyone knows that song and remembers it as a classic, yet it wasn't actually a hit when it was released.
