Really, really GREAT videos you're making there, Anna! I always recommend your channel to my students and others, particularly because I'd like them to learn 'British English' :) But I've got one little question, if I may: What would/should someone from Aleppo be called? An Aleppine? If so, how's that word best pronounced?

One feeling that seldom reaches the point of actual dating is "puppy love," which usually involves a younger, inexperienced person (tween or teen) having a crush on an older person (older teen/adult.) When there's an age gap in a relationship between two adults, it's sometimes called a "May/December romance," with the months of the year representing the stage of life each person is in. "At first it looked like puppy love, but their relationship has blossomed into a full-fledged May/December romance."

Dear Anna, in “you need to work on your material” - you meant to say “you fool have to come up with some better stuff than that” Is that the correct ‘vibe’ of the phrase? [My comment is of a entirely linguistic nature😊]

Real love the phrase "drool over" 🤤. I always use the similar words in Vietnamese when I see some hot girl , instead of complimenting on her beauty, I would say something like "yummy" 😄 (drooling over her). In Vietnamese, it's very popular to say "ngon thật" or kind of a slang word like "ngon vkl" 😄.

Dear Anna, Could you please comment on your words (in ‘chat me up’ section) - “you need to work on your material”. Just elaborate on the subtlety of your sarcasm, please.
@EnglishLikeANative
@EnglishLikeANative 3 жыл бұрын
Material here refers to the chat up line, a well rehearsed line. For example a comedian’s jokes/stories are his material. When the chat up line was delivered I was unimpressed and suggested they work on it meaning they should find or create a better way of approaching someone they want to chat-up. Does that help?
