One common bit of small talk is to share information about restaurants, movies, and TV shows. "Have you tried that new Thai place?" "Did you see Queen's Gambit?" If someone has changed some fashion aspect, it's polite to notice and say something complimentary. "Is that a new hair style? It suits you." "Where did you find such a nice pair of shoes?" With someone you see fairly often, a comment about the weather or other current condition might be enough to acknowledge someone in passing. "Nice weather -- for a duck!" "Spring has sprung!" In the US, you may occasionally hear someone talk about "moving house," but usually we just say "move." Very often, it's "move to," followed by the location of the new home. "We moved to a condo." As for video ideas, perhaps some phrases for serious situations? Showing sympathy for a loss or illness, breaking bad news, warning about an impending crisis, or other such thing. "I'm sorry to have to tell you this..." "You should know..." "You have my deepest sympathy." It wouldn't be the happiest video, but it might help English learners facing personal or interpersonal trials for the first time in their new language.

Hi, Did you end up moving house?-Why is it simple past tense instead of present perfect? Thanks
@EnglishLikeANative
@EnglishLikeANative 3 жыл бұрын
It’s common to use the phrasal verb ‘end up’ when enquiring about whether or not an action took place. End up followed directly by a verb should be in the ing form. You could also say: Did you move house in the end?
