Rattling off English lessons regularly and on time, Anna is like an English lesson factory. We can also use an antonym to 'well' to describe our health and simply say 'unwell. Similes are common when describing our health: I'm as rough as a bear's backside. I'm as sick as a dog. I'm as weak as a kitten. I'm coughing like a horse. I look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards. My nose is running like crazy. Using an adjective in the predicate is also common: I feel awful. I feel lousy. i feel rough, I feel unwell. I am ill. I am sick. I am dog rough. My health is poor. Idioms: I'm under the cosh. I'm under doctor's orders. I've got a dose of the screaming abdabs. I'm not swinging the lead, I'm sick. I've been clobbered with this flu. The flu has wiped me out. This illness has knocked the stuffing out of me. Proverbs: An apple a day will keep the doctor away.

Hello, I’m Enrico, a CELTA teacher. This was truly a great lesson. Nonetheless, I’d add the expression “out of sorts” to “off colour “ and “under the weather”. For example “I’m a bit out of sorts today”. Moreover, when you “phone in sick” then you’re “on sick leave”, meaning the period you’re away from work because you are ill. Hi everybody and thanks!

Hi Anna Are the phrases Tummy Ache or belly ache used for Children ?
@Cindercrown
@Cindercrown 3 жыл бұрын
I would say yes. Because the word "stomach" refers to the organ, while "tummy" or "belly" refers to the body region, if that makes sense to you. I would even say "tummy ache" is the more fitting phrase in this regard, because the English -> German translation of "tummy" makes more sense to me and in German we use the translation for "tummy" to ask children where their pain's coming from.
