Calisthenics is the best method for building muscle without weights. The chin-up is a great way to stimulate and grow bigger arms. If you're ready for more of a challenge, try one arm chin-ups in a negative or eccentric manner. For the intermediates watching, the assisted variation is a good in between movement. The planche with hands supinated stretches and stresses the biceps to increase size. The isometric tension is a potent strength and muscle builder. This same concept applies to the back lever movement. The biceps are being trained at long muscle lengths.

Yeah definitely don’t row the movement. I see people confuse the movement just because it’s a closed kinetic chain movement. There should be no shoulder extension (elbows driving behind you) with a ring bicep curl.

Dude I've been trying to get ring curls right for months, my issue isn't rowing the movement but feeling it in the bicep. I found out the only position that works for me Is rings around Chin height, arms straight under rings and curling up into pretty much a preacher curl. If anyone has any tips please share

The pelican curl negatives are my ABSOLUTE favorite. I always leave a pillow on the floor to protect my facial integrity haha. After training the exercise for over half a year, I have finally reached the point where my face touches the pillow at the bottom of the range of motion. The bicep gains have been so insane that my arms are disproportionate! Literally the most effective exercise ever. I recommend doing it at most 2 times per week, though, as the tendon stress can be a bit greater. If one of your arms gives out in the middle of a rep, you may end up with tendon pain for several weeks, as I did. I had to stop the pelican curls for about 2 months, and when I got back to it, 3 very intense and controlled reps was all I needed to feel sore for a week! (Despite training biceps with other exercises in the meantime.) Since then, I have progressed beyond where I was prior to the break, and my arms have grown even more, so I really have to say that it's worth it, just be cautious.

@@Lightningspiner To sell you even more: doing only pelican curls up to that point and the occasional pseudo-planche push-up was all that I needed to be able to get my first back lever with only 2 days of specific training! Of course, I reached a base level of strength first, but I'm super stoked to have unlocked a freebie skill by focusing on more basic exercises :D

Straight arm work is underrated. Just look at gymnasts. An elite gymnast's biceps are ALWAYS somewhat disproportionately large. It's actually for that reason I typically avoid direct arm work. It's funny because when I tell people I don't lift weights they never believe me. It's like they expect curling 30lb dumbbells to have given me bigger arms than a decade of pullups and a multitude of other difficult bodyweight movements.

I’m not an expert but I’ll show you how I got to full Planche in 7 months 1. I learned the front lever and could hold it for about 20 seconds 2. I practiced handstand push-ups till I could do 11 in a row 3. By then I could easily do about 15 reps of tuck planche push-ups 4. I practiced tuck planche for about 3 months and nothing else until I could hold it for about 1 minute 5. Then I went to pseudo push-ups and it was easy so I skipped it 6. I did 90° push-ups for another 2 months 7. After that I was easily able to hold the straddle planche 8. From then onwards I only did straddle planche and 90° holds And finally I slowly went from 90° holds to straddle planche and to full planche and for the remaining time I practiced on my form and I did it all in 7 months and I’m sure you can do it in no time Also this worked for me and I made this workout routine for myself by myself but I hope it can help you and I believe in you my friend! Keep pushing until you master calisthenics! It is so worth it and all of your hard work will pay off!
