EDIT: To be clear, I'm not telling essential workers they need to stay home. I didn't think I had to clarify this, but someone left a comment about not being able to stay home, because they're a mental health professional. Ma'am, my comment was not for you. My comments were for those who are lucky enough to be able to work from home, but are still out here socializing, partying, living life with no concern or regard to others and their safety. To Paula who left that comment, are you continuing to go to target to peruse unnecessary items? Are you still going to the mall? Are you still having large gatherings? Are you out here not wearing your mask? Are you not wearing your mask PROPERLY?? If so, then YES my comments apply to you then.
It feels like yesterday I was just saying, "guys, I can't believe it's Spring!" Hopefully these recommended houseplants can keep you company this winter. By the way, have you voted? If you voted by mail, have you checked the status of your vote to make sure it has been officially counted? Also, I made this amazing clam chowder the other day... Do you put cilantro in your chowder? I did and it was DELICIOUS.

Everyone seems to be giving away their schefflera plants. I get tons of messages saying, "my so-and-so just gifted me this plant... it's 30 years old and I don't know what to do" yada yada... well here's a video on how to take care of it!

I made a dieffenbachia video about 7 months ago and you guys were soooooo mad that I didn't show how I actually harvested the babies. I went and put all this effort into making a revised, and improved, version and you didn't even bother to watch it (hmph!!!). If you want to give me a pat on the back, peep my improved video!

*lol, I echo ur sentiments. I have not seen any of my friends since March. Not only do I live alone; since COVID I now also get to work from home and workout at home...alone. Such a crazy time. Thank God for houseplants and KZfaq. Love all of ur videos. U're world in Seattls, closely mirrors mine in A2. Michigan is getting ready to go into the same gray time of year as Washington...while equally dark,, we're just a little dryer here and ur experience is helpful to know.

Hi Debra! I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling this way. I wish there could have been a nationwide mandate at the beginning of all of this to just sacrifice some weeks of staying at home. We would probably have a much better hang of this by now, but science isn't a thing anymore apparently... Thank you so much for your sweet note, I really appreciate hearing that! I wish I could get a little bit of AZ sun here in Seattle though lol. Be safe!! Hope to visit Sedona some day, I've only ever been to Scottsdale!

Good choice of winter plants and very aesthetic video! I hope you can find another fittonia, they are fun. Ficus leaves will grow roots but are very unlikely to grow a stem or more leaves (same as hoya), so you’re gonna have a cute potted leaf but it won’t grow from there. There is a small chance that if your leaf had a bit of node/stem on the cutting that it can make a fresh stem. Oh also you can put cinnamon on top of the soil if you get fungi like that and want to get rid of them.

Aww man, I was hoping I would have a ton more rubber plants lol... Well, fun to try it out nonetheless, thank you for telling me! Yes, I keep meaning to try cinnamon. I keep forgetting about that when I go to costco. Maybe when I get around to potting up those cuttings, I will have some on hand. Thanks so much for the note!!

I have an Obtusifolia, Fitonnia and Ficus Elastica. Looking for the Tineke. I propagate a leaf from my Obtusifolia and it rooted quickly but it has been moths and no babies yet. 😢 Love them so much. Keep up the great work with your videos.

You're so sweet, Esmerelda! Thank you so much. I'm happy to hear your obtusifolia petiole has grown roots! Have you potted it into soil? It takes quite a while for it to start growing a new plant, but when it does, it will definitely take off. Be sure it is in a very sunny window, especially during the winter so that it can grow fast for you :)!

Thanks so much Sheila! My ficus was only in a 4" pot when I got it. She nearly died when I went on that same vacation. All but maybe 2 or 3 leaves remained and I was able to nurse it back to health, thank goodness!!

Oh no! 😢so sorry to hear that. I suspect there might be something in the soil or some of the roots may have rotted. Is it in a container with drainage? You could try changing the dirt and cleaning out some of the rotted roots if there are some ☹️.

I am a mental health worker, therefore, I am considered an essential worker and cannot "stay home".
@Botanibabies
@Botanibabies 3 жыл бұрын
To clarify, Paula, I am not talking about people who need to go to work. My husband is also an essential worker and must also show up at work every day. However, he does not go to the mall or go to target to peruse unnecessary items or go to parties or continue to do other leisure activities that could potentially spread/acquire the virus. I didn't think I would have to clarify this, but here we are [hard eye roll]. There are people who are still having large gatherings, still not wearing masks, and who are living their lives as though there is no such pandemic. To be clear, I'M NOT TELLING ESSENTIAL WORKERS TO STAY HOME :).
