That biloage gel is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE! (I have hair on the fine side, not super fine, but finer than medium with baby fine in the front) As soon as this started, I was thinking I wonder if that would make her favs? But I figured it wouldn't! No one ever talks about it and it's great! I also add it on top of mousses, foams, and other gels too!

I have a video with this gel and a Biolage mousse. It is so underrated on KZfaq. It really is so good and so versatile. I like using it with mousses especially but I’ve also used it with creams and other gels. I actually use mousse after gel as I find it really helps enhance the clumps and definition. Okay, when you said extreme hold gel, you had me at hello. I just subscribed! I feel like I found my wavy/curly sister, and a licensed expert, at that.I can't wait to try some of your picks. For liquid gels, I recommend Aveda Flax Seed Aloe Strong Hold. They also have a medium hold liquid gel called Confixor. They just came out with a Curl Gelee, too. I love their Be Curly line.

Thank you! I definitely love a strong hold gel. I used the Confixor gel years ago and loved it. I really need to revisit the Aveda brand again. I bought the biolage gel and the bounce curl gel at your recommendation. They were both discounted in a preblack Friday sale. The bounce curl gel came free with any purchase, so I also picked up some of the clump and define cream you recommended in another video. I can’t wait to try them!

@@jenniferguevara2809 the Biolage was really good on my hair. I am on day 4 and did a damp refresh with the Biolage today. No frizz. Yay!! I chose it because my hair does better without glycerine. The Bouncecurl gel was okay. It has glycerine. Seemed frizzier. My favorite gels are the Ouidad Twist Weather Up & the Biolage may be next. Hope this helps! Blessings!

Great tip for the style fixer gel, I'll have to try it. I have that same gel, tried it twice & didn't like it, although my hair dried looking ok. It felt weird in my hair for one thing. I style similarly to you - only difference being after its styled & clumped, I glaze/praying hands combo the gel then I really scrunch&pulse it in. I'll have to try adding the gel before brush styling.

Mine felt weird too which is why I switched the application method and reduced the amount. No more weird! I don’t scrunch my hair a whole lot but my daughter does. There’s a video on my channel that she did. She scrunches and plops. I think she pulses too. Her hair is loose waves with a few loose curls. Oh, lol, just heard you mention it may just not be for fine hair. I did add water - I have to with thicker products, creams or gels, but I just didn't like the feel. I'll still try it the way you mentioned since I already have it. (I actually wanted to return it but had missed the cut off date at Ulta.) It's just been sitting in my drawer 🤷

Does your hair need to be soaking wet when you use the Biolage? My hair is fine & frizzes too easily. The bottle did not say. I get really confused with damp styling or soaking wet styling when it comes to gels. Tia! Blessings!

It can be used either way but I’d recommend fairly wet but not dripping wet.

Yes, adding water definitely helps! I believe that’s actually how it’s designed, is to be applied to soaking wet hair.

What creams and/or leave-in’s work well with the Curlsmith In Shower Style Fixer?

So far I’ve used it with Curlsmith Hold Me Softly Style Balm, Feather Light Protein Cream, Weightless Air Dry Cream, and Oil in Cream and it works great with all of them. I haven’t tried it with creams from other brands yet. My favorite combo so far is the oil in cream and the featherlight protein cream with the in shower style for a good balanced wash day with lots of hold. Thank you for watching!

Do ouidad gels work alone or best used with creams? I have high porosity, protein overload and frizzy wavy to curly pixie hair cut. I’ve tried the Verb curl line and didn’t like it. Any suggestions would be great!! I live in Southern California where it’s extremely dry heat. What I’ve been using lately is Curls brand Goddess curl gel on its own and defuse after applying but still get frizz. Do I need a stronger gel?

Ouidad gels work great both ways. A curl cream can really help with frizz as they tend to add moisture and encourage clumping and definition, then the gel holds that in place. This added moisture will also help in a dry climate and with your high porosity hair. I’m unfamiliar with that gel so I don’t know it’s strength to be able to compare. I would suggest adding a curl cream to your routine. I have a video about my top 5 curl creams that might help you find one. But off the top of my head, the Curls Creme Brûlée (no protein) might be a good one to try with that gel. Or the Rizos Curls curl cream, I don’t think there’s protein in that one either. And of course there’s the Bounce Curl clump and define cream which is just soooo good. Hope this helps! Thank you for watching!

I don’t mind a cast as long as I can break that cast once my hair is dry. Also, have your tried Bounce curl leave in? Thanks for your help!
