nice review, I like the Torque and Sport tuned for steady running, upgraded the bushings in that GT tuned, for kicks with AXON motor bearings, that would be an interesting upload idea, or "how to technical" never got this, but just ordered the 100th anniversary, just for the FRP, which I prefer for some odd reason over carbon

My original 1990 Astute had a lexan under tray. I can't bring myself to using brushed motors any more with how cheap the ebay brushless motors/esc combos cost now. Sure they are not great but they are still way better than the brushed minus some cogging issues since they are sensorless.

The card board motor plate, doesn’t interfere with heat, but was designed to prevent gear grease from getting inside. Makes one wonder why they didn’t do it for all Of them but that’s what most of the racers say to me etc. so it’s hearsay but seems logical. The running videos are good but wish you didn’t do the slow motion etc. not sure if KZfaq is the same as fb with music but lol running the top force deserves hot music like AC/DC or Metallica or whomever but something more spiced. The music you tried (good for other things), but is kinda the same as the silver can motor they sent with the car. It just needs more.
@poorboysrc
@poorboysrc 3 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the feedback Jason! Unfortunately due to copyright law I can't use Metallica, etc... MAN how I would love to! They're my favorite band, have been since I was a kid! But using their music without permission is a quick trip to to KZfaq's virtual penalty box, lol! I'll ask Hetfield if I can borrow a song or two if I se ehim at their next show. 🤣

Agreed. Just received mine. The motor is junk. What happened to the standard old Johnson motor. They were at least well made. This motor has edges so sharp they would cut you if you're not careful. Very average quality control for something supplied with a top end kit.

The cardboard part that goes between the motor and the mounting plate is for plastic motor mounts - less heat transfer will result therefore helping not melt / warp the motor mount. you do not want to use it when you have a metal motor mount.

The fibre or cardboard plate harks back to a time when people were running super hot brushed motors and plastics were brittle and fragile. I personally don’t bother with them anymore when using mildly faster motors. Just m2cw.

If you could only have either the Egress, Avante 2011, or the Top Force Evo. Which one would it be and for what reason(s)?
@poorboysrc
@poorboysrc 3 жыл бұрын
Don't make me choose, Mark! 🤣 I'd have to pick the Avante 2011. It's the high-end kit that I drooled over as a kid and could never afford. It was the kit that made me gain appreciation for not only it's successors, but for the gorgeous Kyosho models that were being released to market at the time. Of the three choices, I bet the Avante would be the poorest performer, but that doesn't sway my opinion, it was the kit that really made my jaw drop 30-something years ago.
@markscotchford4159

@@poorboysrc What a fantastic reply, thank you. I went from Tamiya to a Kyosho Salute back then and never bought another Tamiya until now. I have just ordered a Top Force Evo even though I am unemployed at the moment. I just couldn't hold out any longer. :-) I do see what you mean about the Avante. It does look brilliant even though I think a lot of the design seems to either be over engineered or superfluous. I think that in way is what makes it so special. I will look for your Avante videos. Thank you again.
