Loved every moment of this show, but I have to say, when I was working in London, that pay by phone parking was brilliant. Once you were set up, it was quick and easy, and you could top up without having to go back to your car, very handy for a field engineer who might end up half a mile from wwhere he was parked, up to his ankles in bits of machinery!

Mercedes are extremely expensive in the US. Our friends from England have commented on their surprise at the cost of them here. I test drove a used one, it didn't live up to the hype for my husband or myself. Happy trails, ohgodlemmein.

Well, the mercedes I'm talking about wasn't exactly expensive. It would be the equivalent to class C nowadays. It is called the 190D. And to put it into context, as I've said earlier, it was a cab for most of it's life (~20/30y) and has done over 2M km or over 1.2 Million miles. The engine is still the same it was built with. Honestly I don't drive it much these days, but it's an amazing car. For reference, it was acquired in 1958. Mercedes W120.

I don't know where you live. As I am an American, American cars are much less expensive. I'm 47 years old and between my husband and myself we've owned quite a few cars and like I said, all the troublesome cars for us were foreign. Growing up my family only owned American cars and they were good cars. But, then again, my dad took great care of our vehicles. "you take care of your car, it takes care of you."

I was raised solidly in the middle class and no one I knew could afford a Mercedes, as they are prohibitively expensive in the US. Predominately everyone I know drives American cars and are mostly happy with their vehicles. I could give you many examples of American car odometers ticking multiple times, especially pick ups. Our Impala has 100k on it and we've only had to do basic maintenance. Everyone has their own reality, that's mine. You have yours.

AGREED! I'm from the US and the problem is the hosts. One cannot just advert for three male hosts with chemistry. It may be true, what I believe Clarkson said, "The secret is we really loathe one another." Perhaps the US should hold casting based on that. Throw three men together at random until they find 3 that can fight while polite. Another problem is the US is slave to the corporations. They can never do the gift bits, the news, in fact none of the real show is allowed. No wonder it sucks.
