@@tonyrappa4611 That is incorrect. There are a good amount of homes that are starting in the 400-500's located in Reno. Obviously, the higher you go in the price, the more options you have. There are brand new 2 story homes by DR Horton in Sparks starting around $450k.

We literally left the 115 degree summer heat of Vegas specifically for the colder climate in Reno. The cold weather was our biggest selling point. The best part is that the snow doesnt stay on the ground more than a few days out here in Sparks!

I use to live in Reno from 1980 to 84. I've always missed Reno and I've had thoughts about moving back. Theres only one problem..I'm on social security and I dont know if I'd be able to find a place affordable. If it wasnt for that I'd move back in a minute.

There are people who can afford a home on social security, however that would depend on what kind of home you are looking for and if you have another source of income if your social security money is limited.

Yes, Reno is expensive. We moved to Carson City and love it here. The views are spectacular and the people are friendly. It gets cold, but summertime is not overly hot like Arizona. Plus Lake Tahoe is very close so you can go for a day trip easily.

Having spent over 48 years in the construction trades, one of the reasons housing costs so much is idiotic building codes that cost a ton of $$$ but contribute nothing to safety. It seems they’ve adopted every ridiculous code that exists, most of them unnecessary.

There are lots of cultural events and activities in Reno like the Reno, Rodeo, Hot August Nights, Street Vibrations, Italian Festival, Octoberfest, Wolf Pack Arts and Sports, Reno Aloha Festival, and many more. Its best to not be afraid to go and be around people of different cultures and heritages otherwise you will become a shut-in.

Living up in Reno Amy brings up lots of good points. Here are some pro's compared to California. It is cheaper to live here than neighboring states. There is no state income taxes. You can each cheap at the casino's providing you don't gamble. Which I don't. The traffic is much less then in California. Carson city and other town has lots less traffic then Reno its self. The roads are kept up compared to California. She dose bring up good points about the winter it dose get vary cold but summer times it is cool at night when sleeping .

Your channel magically popped up on my feed yesterday and being a California transplant, definitely caught my attention. I retired here in October 2021 from the SF Bay Area. I have a stunning home high on a ridge with spectacular views out towards Spanish Springs and beyond. This home with its views would cost millions in California. Winter weather? My second winter here. I don't find it a big deal at all. Just put on a jacket and go about your business. Snow? We get just enough to look pretty but without the hassle of feet of snow like in Truckee. The real estate market has definitely hit a wall with rising interest rates. I'm not sure how property values are holding up but new and used home sales is a tough gig these days for agents like yourself. Good luck. One more thing. Vegas? No thanks.

I’m glad you’re enjoying living in Spanish springs and that the winter weather/ snow doesn’t seem to bother you. The real estate market has definitely slowed down. It’s not just Reno, but a national issue. I wouldn’t want to live in Vegas either. However, I love their food. It is harder, but homes are still selling. Thank you! 😃

Thank you! No, gas hasn't always been that high, however since making this video, the average gas price in Washoe County is now $4.36, so it has fortunately come down since then. As far as heating, that hasn't gone up too much. I can tell you that from our NV Energy bill, we paid $117 last February and our projected bill this month is $130. Not too bad.

I've met plenty of people who work for Microsoft who get payed to do something Hi-Tech and yet they cant read a map. They have 4 year college degrees making more than 100 thousand a year but they dont know how to read a map. They dont know how to follow a GPS either. I use to be a rideshare driver which is how I met these people. They would tell me that the schools nowadays dont teach people how to read maps anymore like they did during my generation. This is not true at all..none of my teachers taught me how to read a map, in fact nobody did. When I was 10 years old I would look at a map while my mom was driving so we wouldn't get lost. I didnt have any problem understanding road maps..maybe I should be the one making 100 thousand a year. Except I dont have a 4 year college degree which is what Microsoft requires.

Well let's not forget after taking several hundred thousand dollars in campaign donations from the college, our esteemed Madame mayor found reasons to close down all the affordable housing so the college could buy them up for dorm housing. @amyburgos4491

Real estate agents will give you information about the current market. Who decides on whether to buy or not is up to the individual and whether or not it is the best time for them. If it makes more sense for you to rent, then continue renting, but if you are able to buy, then do so. Buying a home has to make sense for you and your life circumstances. We cannot be the ones to tell you that only you can.
