Update I did in fact change the fuel filter and still no luck. However I added new mix fueled with 93 octane and 2 cycle oil still did not start so as my son was pulling the cord I sprayed carb cleaner directly in the carb as he cranked and eureka it started chocked it self out would not start then hit it again with the carb cleaner and it fired up 1 hour later with no carb cleaner it fires up so happy I cannot tell you. Thank you for the video as far as cleaning the carb

Good video. Just be careful cause that carb cleaner can warp or even eat up plastic
@sixtyfiveford
@sixtyfiveford 10 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yeah, carb cleaner is basically Acetone which is a plasticizer(dissolves plastic). But so is the Ethanol we have in our gas these days. So the majority of all carbs built in the past 20 years have composite or nylon parts that aren't effected by them and anything older is usually all metal..

865sticks It is extremely rare in a 2 stroke snowblower but the flywheel key can shear and throw the spark off time.

sixtyfiveford This would cause spark to soon/late. The engine would fart a lot but not fire. Are you getting a good 1/4" spark by placing a screwdriver into the spark boot and holding the shaft 1/4" away from the spark plug head or engine?

Gotta love free. These are GREAT machines and you will be very happy with it. At 1:23 you will see a little metal tab that the spring hooks to. Bending this towards or away from the carb sets the speed lower or higher. I would make sure that your main throttle butterfly moves freely first as it could be stuck in an open position.

i should clarify, the choke is different from this video. more like a lawn mower choke where it will push either forward or back.the choke lever on the outside of body does not push the choke either way .

People use seafoam but I think it is snake oil like all these products. It will work 5-10% of the time but in the hours you waste playing with it trying to get this stuff to work you could have done a basic carb clean. As you can tell I push towards a simple cleaning as there is no replacement for it in these precision carbs. Your symptoms suggest your main jet it clogged. I have several dozen carb videos on youtube and have people who have no mech ability successfully clean carbs everyday. -Moe

back to square one doing the same thing cleaned carb replaced govenor spring. it seems to me like the spring is not strong enough to hold throttle where it needs to be and govenor pulls to idle. runs great with good power for about 5 min and thats it. also running fresh mix with a good toro oil. im lost on this one maybe carb needs replaced
@sixtyfiveford
@sixtyfiveford 10 жыл бұрын
If it runs fine for 5 minutes I would rule out the governor spring and carb itself. I sounds like a spark or fuel delivery issue. When it dies can you restart it? Do you have to wait a certain amount of time before a restart?

Finally got it running!! After several attempts without the engine turning over I took the carburetor off again. I realized I had the bowl in the wrong position! The molded "branch" from the bottom of the bowl had to line up with the off-center hole at the bottom of the carb. That's the best way I can describe it. Once it was put back together, a couple of primes and on it went. Thanks for giving me and others for the confidence to try fixing it ourselves. Great video!!

Great Video! Our Toro CCR 2450 was blowing smoke and surging as I tested it 2 days before Blizzard Jonas was about to hit Phila PA. Drained the fuel, replaced the fuel filter and followed your carb cleaning instructions. (Pulled the sticker and cleaned the port also) Put it all back together, filled the tank with 91 octane and the fuel mix. Primed it a few times and 3 pulls later it was screaming! That's great to hear. The ethanol they put in gas these days is very harsh on rubber(primer bulb, etc) and other parts. If you want to prevent issues I highly recommend finding a local station with ethanol free gasoline. There is a non-profit .org site that lists them by state: www.pure-gas.org . Most are around farming communities or small airports.

Did everything you said except put fresh gas & oil in my snowblower tried to fire it up and same results. NOTHING. Not to mention that the gas was about 3yrs old cause thats how long my snowblower has been sitting in the basement. I went back at it the next day with fresh gas (I used premium) a new bottle of oil and a can of carb cleaner instead of the brake cleaner that I used the day before. Also I replaced the spark plug and cleaned out the gas container. Did everything in the video step by step. Gave it about 5 pumps pulled the cord twice and it fired right up. All in all I was out about $10 bucks for the gas, carb cleaner & a spark plug. Wayyy better than the hundred something dollars that the shop wanted to charge me. All in all excellent video. I enjoyed your video and found it very helpful. I just finished cleaning the carb on a CCR3650 Toro snow blower. Before cleaning it, my unit started acting up with the engine racing once it was warmed up. It was if the throttle was wide open. After cleaning, it came down slightly but the rpm's are way up there. I thought that maybe something was wrong with the governor spring but wanted to check with you first. Keep up the good work sixtyfiveford.

John D Really the only way it will race is if the throttle butterfly is sticking.

The ultrasonic cleaner did a very good job ( a few 2 minute cycles, simple grean water and a squirt of dawn..then one cycle for rinse just water, then air) on the newer Rtek carb that is metal, from my Toro 3650, but I will use your technique on this type it looks like it has more small passages. Thanks again.

Thanks you made that carb rebuild real simple just think I've been paying those small way too much for an half hour work and they been keeping my snowblower two to three weeks at a time well that will end tomrrow when rebuild own in twenty minutes.

sixtyfiveford I took the carb apart and cleaned it. It started right up but when I take it away from the choke setting it idles very high. Any suggestions?
@sixtyfiveford

These snow blowers run at a high at RPM all times. They should never really idle. If it is runny at an excessively high RPM then make sure the throttle butterfly moves freely with the governor arm. If you removed the idle adjustment screw on the very top back it out a little to allow the engine to slow down.

Thank you for doing this video, I just pick up a Toro 2450 with this carb today, will be cleaning the carb and checking the governor first and draining/cleaning the tank, hopefully get it running. Right now it will start, then dies after 10-15 sec when you adjust chocke after a couple hi-lo surge. I am planning on using the ultrasonic for the parts, but will now be spraying through them too. You video will help during disassmbly and reassembly ! Thanks for the insight. I'm hoping it's just carb, not a bad crank seal but only one way to find out I guess .

G. Fortin Yeah, it's just the carb. With the new ethanol crap a snowblower will gum up the carb on a machine left outside in 3 months. Ultra sonic cleaners really don't do a thing on these tiny carbs. If the passages spray clear you're good to go.

My 2003 CCR3650 did get a new carb and a full cleaning, lubing and touch up painting. It surges however. I adjusted the throttle spring tension but no matter what the Governor wire seems to be letting the throttle butterfly pulse open and closed. Hmmm. Runs snd starts well otherwise. Thanks for any input.

thanks for the video ,it helped . my question is how do/can you adjust the choke wire to operate the choke properly? i noticed that the choke lever just pushes in without moving the choke at all. Thanks Steve
@sixtyfiveford
@sixtyfiveford 9 жыл бұрын
SuperDragonWagon It shouldn't ever need adjustment. If the choke isn't moving then the lever end isn't in the corresponding hole on the carb.
