To help Scott out with the cool Grant Fuhr reference, I tried to find the NHL goalies who had the most wins by a one goal margin. It looks like nobody has kept track of this interesting stat. Fuhr was amazing during his later years with the St. Louis Blues, but I remember the team really got on him about all the McDonald's he was eating. Fuhr got into super good shape to put up some career years there.

One last comment. Scott. My condolensces. My mom passed and i handled everything as was the only son. It was terrible and stressful. You go from wanting to cry to wanting to smash the wall down. Glad to see you back. Looking forward to long toss!!!

Tonight in Buffalo: Alek Manoah - 5.2 innings, 6 hits, 2 earned runs, 0 walks, 5 K. All the damage on a 1st inning home run, but solid after that. Orelvis Martinez - 2 home runs, so far... (He has hit 5 bombs with 12 RBI in the past 5 days!)

I think this is the start of the Varsho redemption tour. He will take over the majority of starts in centre field, which will boost his confidence at the plate. I would rather start Varsho in CF and slide him to LF late in games IF KK is coming in for defense. Then we open LF up to fill via trade later on (a big lefty bat like Yelich). I just think KK should be more of a 4th outfielder/pinch runner/late game def replacement at this point. I love Varsho in CF if we have a masher in LF I see Varsho as our starting CF in 2025 hitting in the 1 or 2 hole.

Comparing Vladdy to Juan Soto is like comparing apples to oranges. Soto is in a completely different league.

Pete Walker has had a lot of success, and you mentioned some good examples. I remember Chatwood and Roark as failures; but as I remember their personalities, both seemed like the type who were going to do things their way and not listen to anyone else. (Chatwood is currently with the Diamondbacks AAA team, and Roark quit baseball and got divorced in 2021.)

The real mistake Atkins made is what a lot of fans did as well, thinking that Vlad and Bo were All Stars that would lead this team. Atkins built a lot of great complimentary pieces around a rotten core.
