This is a quick peek at how the TOSEVEN DM01 performed at 72 volts. I ran a few different profiles. Field weakening was kept to 25% for now and staying well within the limits. Acceleration is awesome. Top speed is to be determined. More information on our Discord group in the TOSEVEN rooms. / discord

Sounds great, looks rapid, look at the damage the draw is doing to the battery lol its clearly running very well, cant wait to see a bit of off-road with full telemetry 👊🏻👍🏻

Yeah thats pretty usual for pulling 3kw+ on those cells. They are Sony VT6 so they should handle it pretty well. I will put the numbers up next time as the bar is not very helpful.

Very smooth. Quieter than the bbshd with the same kit.

@@HighVoltageKitsToseven DM-01 still seems to have higher pitched whine than BBSHD which is more annoying, but DM-01 seems to run smoother with less vibration as far as I can tell from videos. The only good thing for DM-01 was no gear grinding sound while pedalling with the motor turned off due to another sprag clutch in main gear (will see how that one holds up since it's said to be proprietary as far as I know). Also no clicking pawls like on BBSHD. Still not sure if second sprag clutch on DM-01 has decreased the axle drag compared to BBSHD since TSDZ2B is said to have even higher drag than original one.

Looks very impressive. Seems that heat is not an issue even pulling a lot of power. It might be helpful to also include speeds in the vid. How is the torque sensing PAS working with the new controller? Torque sensing and capable of HD power levels, Bafang better up their game!

Its just cadence right now. The TS is still being ironed out. The language barrier with TOSEVEN is challenging but at least unlike Bafang they are willing to help.

I’ve been interested in this particular brand and model of mid drive and just waiting for US availability… but I have to say that blowing through all those stop signs is the kind of behavior that’s going to cause a regulatory rebound on our sport.
@HighVoltageKits

You can get them from California ebike which is the only US dealer so far. I kind of picked a very specific time to do that test. But not going to argue with you on the legality. Had there been any sort of traffic, pedestrian or road I would have been very different. I went down town later in the day and obeyed every last thing. But you are correct its not legal to take those turns as I did even if they are right hand turns and I am not crossing traffic. It's a fair point.

Can you test this the same way listing phase amps/ like the 52v test? I think the 72v is using battery amps.. idk

Super test😉 il y a quelque chose que je comprend pas les rpm ca veut dire que le moteur tourne a plus de 10 000 rpm ? A la base il tourne beaucoup moins vite
@HighVoltageKits

Il atteint des régimes beaucoup plus élevés en raison de la tension plus élevée et de l'affaiblissement du champ. Habituellement, il culmine à environ 6000 tr/min

So far, how do you feel the dm01 stacks up against the bbshd
@HighVoltageKits
@HighVoltageKits 8 ай бұрын
Stock it has a torque sensor so it is much better than the BBSHD in that respect. It also has significantly more tuning options. In terms of reliability the DM01 being new does not have the proven track record of reliability. Its early days in terms of testing as well at higher power but in those respects it does have some advantages. I will see if I can do a comparison video between these motors at some point. I will try to include a brief overview in the video tomorrow.

Serious question, how do you keep your hands warm on a bike at -4 C? I would estimate your speed as at least 40 kph, that would make -4 feel like -10 C. Since living in Korea, I haven't found gloves (except motor cycle gloves) that will stop my hands from going numb with the cold and that's at 3-5 C. Motor cycle gloves are too cumbersome on a bike when it comes to changing gears and braking.
@HighVoltageKits
@HighVoltageKits 8 ай бұрын
I'm using mittens. It was 4c sorry not -4. The dash is misleading. They were toasty warm. I'm used to riding down to -30. You keep the speed down a bit then and I wear pretty much snow mobile gear. Speeds were probably over 70kph on the hill towards the end. I screwed up the GPS so I will fix the speed for future videos.

Unsure right now. I think it will hit 80kph tho. Now whether I want to do those speeds for long is another thing. It accelerates really nicely tho which is what I like.

I can't make up my mind, help! :) A cyc x1 pro gen 3 will cost approximately $1750 CAD, a BBSHD + High Voltage BAC-855 will cost about $1900 CAD, add about $150 if I go with the TOSEVEN DM01 instead of the BBSHD (torque sensing motor, obviously a better experience). The BBSHD / HV controller is a known commodity with thousands of test hours on that combo, the ToSeven is new but I have trust in the HV guys and know they research and test like it's their addiction. Where should I spend $2000-ish of my hard earned dollars? I already have a decent fat bike as well as an older specialized 29er, the fat bike is the bike I plan to electrify. What I do know is stock 1000 watt ebike isn't going to give the adrenaline rush I want. I have 40+ years street and dirtbike experience and cycle my cities river valley trails regularly.

What kind of riding will you be doing? I will have more on the TOSEVEN with some commentary on the rest of the ride tomorrow. We would have to look at your bottom bracket for with the TOSEVEN as the largest size is 110mm. Not like the 120mm with the BBSHD. In terms of where you put your money maybe others will advise. Out of my bikes the fatbike is a huge thrill with the BBSHD as it just hauls ass with a single gear and you don't get that 0-60kph pull with the CYC. Although it does have torque sensing. Will you be wanting to ride PAS? Or just have something to rip about with?

@@HighVoltageKits Thank you so much for the quick reply. My lazy ass hasn't even measured the bottom bracket of my fat bike, thanks for the tip on the 110mm max size (I will measure that tonight). My riding is about 30% street to get to gavel river valley trails and hills. At 55 years old I'm not doing anything remotely aggressive, very easy single track but mostly gravel river valley trails. I have followed your fat bike build and rebuild and plan to use my fatbike for sure, Edmonton is a winter city and I my hope is that the fat bike will extend my riding season. I love your single gear setup; do you have an opinion on a Sturmey-Archer SX-RK3 3-speed interally geared hub under these kinds of loads? edit: torque sensing would be a nice add on, I might actually pedal lol
@HighVoltageKits
@HighVoltageKits 8 ай бұрын
One guy tried the Sturmy and it did not last that long. Maybe 6 months. There might be a new option next year but I can't talk about that just yet. If you can fit the TOSEVEN it might be interesting to use that because it has a few advantages over the BBSHD especially with PAS. Its really early days with testing on the DMO1 so I want to caution you a bit on that. Further testing might result in problems with the gears etc. I hope not but I can't say things in confidence like with the BBSHD. I will have more info on the TOSEVEN tomorrow. I rode my Fatbike with studded tires alot in winter so it ought to handle Edmonton. I used to be up in Cold Lake for about 5 years lol. Small world!
