If a bunch of this generation of kids got transported back to the 80s they wouldn't be running around grilling and lecturing people. They'd be too busy getting bullied, shoved in lockers and smacked.

they wouldn't be able to cope with the trauma. zero safe spaces and now one gave a crap about your feelings.

@@Alachia I wish I were a teen living in this period. I'd love causing meltdowns of full grown adults over very minor trolling. 🤣Whenever I see some viral video of some teen/college kid having a breakdown over the dumbest of things my instant thought is "Why is no one dunking this kid's head in a toilet?" You can just know which people have never been told NO before by their parents and which ones have never been smacked.

The writers _really_ didn't care how they got the time machine in there. Really took me out of it, even if it a comedy... that was just lazy.

Spoilers -->>> I liked the fact that you could tell the killer in 2022 was not that good of a fighter as the one in the 80s while wearing the same mask and it was explained in the end of course. That was the clue they gave us before the reveal. I thought the "lets do boring stuff" kind of talk she nagged them with was because she's just trying to keep the victims safe so I saw nothing wrong with that. Also, that first time when she sees the Indian mascot at the school and calls it "racist" is kind of ironic considering the "Cleveland Indians" baseball club in real life that this seems to represent who bent their knee to the woke crowd, and changed their name and image are now being sued by actual Indians who want it changed back lol. I also wasn't sure if the script was purposely making her "preach" or if they were more poking fun at the sensitive generation of people we have present time but because they did do the check box thing with the "representation" whether it be the typical strong and physically capable females, black women in particular who are tech savvy, or with her new brother at the end being in the rainbow club, I'm going to have to assume maybe she was indeed preaching to the viewers or Gen X in particular.

I totally agree that Hollywood is in a drought/ dismal since 2019. I have a fascination with the 80s so I may still check it out but I’ll keep my expectations low.

You're 100% right it was soooo cringe when she yells out "unwanted touch!" for practically no real reason and then keeps going on and on about what is not politically correct. The reason why this was all so cringe is because the 80s weren't like that at all. People didn't have Indian mascots because they were racist, but because they thought the Indians were powerful people. Of course, its up to native Americans to decide whether they feel its offensive, but that is why this generation is SO backwards and clueless. For some strange reason they think its up to their limited knowledge of politics and real issues to decide what goes and what doesn't. Its like when nationalities fight for African American rights they way that THEY feel needs to be done by tearing down statues and making former Disney characters African American. You know what... they should change the original Little Mermaid to a dark-skinned girl- said no African American EVER. So, you are 100% right and the movie was accurate because it showed the main character constantly trying to control things that had nothing to do with actually helping the characters and ended up making everything worse during the entirety of the movie. This generation is high on internet and low on understanding. So, hrmph! (old person voice- I'm sorry- age advanced voice)

Watched the other day expecting it to be a 'so bad its good' type film (your Killer Clowns From Outer Space or Frankenhooker, etc), and while i do agree with you on all points, I wouldn't grade it as harshly. For me, I felt it could go either way: plenty of stuff too corny or hokey in a bad way, but also enough done decently [and good badly]. If someone were to ask, "should I watch it?", I think I'd tell them "give it a shot, but know that it may not be what you were hoping."

I was wondering afterward if the movie was supposed to be a satire of differences between Gen X and Z;s view on morals and relationships, but later on I thought I was giving this movie way too much credit.

Yeah. I think it was just made to be a silly comedy. It would have been nice if the true horror story was the satire and she realized how ridiculous the new generation is compared to the old

I knew her solely as Don’s kid Sally Draper, from Mad Men. I was an 80’s kiddo, and totally into this! With time travel movies, I don’t take everything too seriously. Wasn’t Jamie being the fun sucker in order to thwart off the killing spree? Where can we click to see Alachia’s Bad Amazon review of the Super Mario Stickers? 😆

Columbine happened before cell phones were a thing. I think the media sensationalizing the crap out of those events really amped up the shootings.. but you are right, after social media and cell phones... people started acting out their psychopathy on the innocent more often.

I’m just a few minutes into your review, but wanted to share that, interestingly, I had the opposite reaction to you as regards first and subsequent impressions. I was extremely dubious for the first chunk of the movie, but at some point the humour and the characters just started to click. I found myself overlooking my issues with it (including the heavy-handed approach to the Gen X jokes that you’re currently talking about as I write this) and going along for the ride, and I rather enjoyed it overall.

Made it 28 minutes in before i had to see if anyone was roasting this garbage. Its so weak in every aspect and hardly thought out. These kinds of movies are so annoying, like an excited child wrote it by going "and then THIS happens, ooooo and then THIS happens yay!!! Wow so cool! Let's do this now! And then THIS AND THAT!" Culminating in a just bad bad, generic and insulting collection of scenes we've already seen before. I do not understand how filmmakers are just NOT making original films. And I really don't understand why many people enjoy "films" like this even a little. I could eviscerate this... So called "movie". Though long youtube video is more like it...

Will watch procedurals 🕵️‍♀️ Will watch fun & exploitive 🍈🍈 🪓🔪 Will pass on hypocritical nagging A movie with characters exploiting real death for online clout while criticizing folks in the 80s for not being in the longhouse of 2023 without a hint of satire is insufferable.
