Placing roses on MARILYN and BETTIE PAGE's grave.
I visit them every once and a while to pay my respects to these two beloved stars, and of course to Dean Martin, who was also a good friend of Marilyn's.
**SKIP TO 3:28 TO GET RIGHT TO HER GRAVE (Bettie Page is right before)
**Please Note: Nasty, Mean or downright hateful comments Will be removed at my discretion.
I want to make this clear that, NO I did not step on anyone's grave purposefully, as I try very carefully not to do so. On the grass, you are stepping above someone's Coffin, like anywhere else, inevitably as there is no space around them. I always tread carefully when at any gravesite. If I stepped all over the tombstones themselves, then yes it would be disrespectful. It is a very small cemetery and the graves are very close together. So any hurtful or rude comments will be removed.
Here's a video for anyone who wondered what it's like to visit Marilyn Monroe, Bettie Page, and Dean Martin at their final resting place at the Pierce Brothers Cemetery. The journey there and a trip around the grounds.
Dear Marilyn was laid to rest in an open bronze casket lined with champagne-colored satin. She was dressed in her green Pucci dress and a green chiffon scarf. In her hands was a posy of pink teacup roses, a gift from Joe DiMaggio, her second husband who had sat vigil over her all night...
Ps. Please refrain from kissing the grave, it's not exactly sanitary and leaves that stain. Blowing her a kiss is just as lovely and respectful:)
Enjoy!!
IG:@LadyMandyFlora
Note: The chapel has been remodeled, I was informed by the MMCollector that it is now completely different inside than it was at the time of Marilyn's funeral such as: There was carpet flooring, bench seats, wall paneling, and different light fixtures but the building is the same.
Recording by me, and photos used are in the Public Domain. Music provided by KZfaq Free Audio Library.

I only wish that Marilyn could know how much soooooo many people Love her for herself. Even after all this time, a bit Ironic that she felt liked no one Loved her

I wish the same, but I know that when she was alive she knew how much the people adored her, the public. That's why she said she belonged to the people because they made her the star she is, plus thousands of fans letter a week. I think her loneliness came from home, her failed marriages and sadly her miscarriages. All the guys she worked for who treated her badly or like the "dumb blonde". Ultimately she became the very symbol for Hollywood for her beauty, talent and kindness. She became the true Star she wanted to be, sadly too late for her to see it in person.

@Predaking101 Yes Marilyn was first Norma Jeane, and I suspect in private, she was only Norma Jeane behind the scenes. She knew how to "switch on" Marilyn, as so many have said. She knew her craft well and we all adore her for it. She left quite a lasting impression on us all and she will Never be forgotten. Liz Taylor was another Bombshell of a woman. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Marilyn had a terrible childhood. Her mother, unfourtantly had mental health issues and could not care for her. Including attempting to smother her with a pillow. During her time in foster care, bouncing from one home to the next; no one loved her. Her foster parents arranged her to be married at age sixteen just to get rid of her.

Marilyn, then Norma Jeane posed in several photoshoots that were considered "improper" for the times, to pay her bills. She posed nude/semi nude knowing they would be used for calendar's or other things and she did what she wanted to do and had to do to make it in the tough world of showbiz in the early days. Hugh simply purchased the rights to the photos, much like photographers today have the "rights" to the photos taken of the models to do what they want with (unless there's a contract). What of the men who took those photos of her to sell originally? While she may not have wanted those photos to come to light while she was on the rise in fear it may affect her career, in the end, the public loved her even more for her honesty and quick wit in explaining why she took the photos to begin with. Hence the "Chanel #5 and the radio" quote. Hugh never met her, and really anyone can legally purchase a grave, but I understand your point and am not trying to defend Hugh but simply explaining what was going on at the time. As for the other part, I am no Hugh Hefner expert, so I will only comment on Marilyn's part as she is my main focus. Marilyn was a Very smart woman, and ironically those very same red satin nude photos are treasured by us today and hang inside The Hollywood Museum. The entire wall has several large framed photos of her from that photoshoot, for all to admire in a much broader spectrum than any magazine back then, plus today's internet. Sadly, Hollywood in general, exploits everyone. We all love her, and miss her and wish she was far better taken care of. Anyways, hope this helps, thank you for watching. Take care:)

Lady in the Library I know she did a lot modeling before she became fame actor and I am aware of how things was there but that’s was mostly by agreement too? I also grew up watch with some her movies and my dad was a fan of old Hollywood movies as he was born at the time. I model myself too, but honestly I think he took at least respect her wishes and not post them as many men before him have used her, and he was no different then, if they never met I feel if he have some decency. And what I am saying it’s based on people who work with Hefner too. Great blog tho and take care too.
@LadyMandyFlora
@LadyMandyFlora 4 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with you, he should have gotten her permission to use the photos but unfortunately, because he bought the rights to them, he didn't legally have to. Which of course is unfair to models, even today when that happens:/ She signed a model release form under the name Mona Monroe to conceal her identity. Signing it gave away her rights to the images (unless stated otherwise), but she did consent to pose for them for $50. She was a bright Lady who turned that situation around and it made her an even bigger star, and I'm happy about that. I wish I could've fit all this into the video to go into more detail. She deserved the world:) Thank you and best wishes!

True! He passed away in 1995 though so he may have purchased a plot much later on and maybe there was no space left for him near her. Marilyn has close friends and those she considered relatives, buried there, so for me atleast, I feel they all protect her. Her own mausoleum would be wonderful.

I wish she was still alive I would do everything to meet her and tell her how amazing and beautiful she always is 😔 can’t believe such an angel had so much pain on her,I believe soon or later we will find what really happened to her,I believe she was murdered,I want to become a detective forensic,if I achieve that,I’ll do anything to find out the truth,the real truth. Can’t wait to one day go to her grave 😔I would definitely cry,talking and having silence at the same time. She is and will always be a queen,she will ALWAYS no matter what year it is,she will always be alive in someone’s life ❤️ (sorry for such a long thing, I have never expressed my feelings like this,I have so much more to say but I won’t 🌹) you are sooo lucky to have gone there !!! When you become a forensic detective please do let us know what you discover! I think her death was odd... I hope you get to visit her resting place and feel the peace surrounding her. The first time I visited her, I cried too. It was overwhelming to be there knowing the woman we see so beautiful and alive, is now behind that wall. I know she would give a big hug and kiss to every single person that visited her, just knowing how much we all adore her. We all wish she had a better life, more love, real friendship and a family of her own. I believe she is resting in Heaven now with her mother and family and those she loved, without a care in the world. Thank you for watching, and your comment. I love to know others out there care for her and keeps a good thought for her. :)

I live in Canary Islands, Spain, so far away from Los Angeles, but I hope I can go to the Westwood Cemetery someday and fill their graves with flowers and kisses (of course, blowed kisses) since they both mean that much to me (and I have to confess that seeing Dino's grave empty made me feel a little saddened). Actually the chapel has been completely remodeled and it's totally different from when Marilyn's funeral was held there on August 8, 1962. Hers was the second funeral to be held in the chapel after it was built. There was carpet on the floor (no marble), there were bench seats, paneling on the walls, and different light fixtures. The building is the same but the inside is totally different.

I wish Marilyn Monroe was still living... Just think 🤔 how much she would of been able to share...with us❣️💫❣️She had over came so much from her hard growing-up years... She was a real survivor. She wanted and was looking for more success. Her life was so horribly cut short. I still feel so bad about her psssing-away so young.😢I know she had so much to offer us in her future that all later ahead of her. ❣️💫❣️

I think it would have been so nice to have her write her own biography so we know from her directly what she went through and all about her life. She was such a beautiful and talented lady and the world will always adore her. Her life was cut short and that is the saddest part, she had so much to live for. She will forever be an icon:) Thank you for the lovely comments and watching! Very Best Wishes to you!

@@LadyMandyFlora Hi! miss Lady, first of all thank you for your generosity in putting flowers on the grave of Marilyn Monroe and other stars that you like like Betty Page, I also like Betty but much more Marilyn, she is my favorite female idol :) me Happy if the next time you visit the cemetery you put some roses to Heather O'Rouke, one of my part would be fine! :) It was very sad to know that he had no flowers when an acquaintance who lives in Los Angeles visited his grave in January of this year. I am from Spain and it hurts me to know that actresses who were admired in their day have them so forgotten because they are not as well known as the adorable Marilyn, fans still remember them but many who live in Los Angeles do not usually make themselves to the cemetery .They shouldn't be fans at all because they don't bring them flowers, they just visit their grave out of curiosity and make a video. The well-known man who lives in Los Angeles asked him for a favor but he did not do it, to put a rose on my part at Marilyn's grave. I still hope someone will do it but I suppose you have to be friends with someone special to do me this favor. Thanks Lady! I send you greetings and hugs :)
@LadyMandyFlora

I feel the same way, it is sad when such wonderful stars who were so adored, are now largely forgotten as the years go by. I don't think most people even realize Bettie, or many other big stars are buried so close to Marilyn. I would be happy to place a rose at Marilyn's grave and Heather's for you next time I go. I get requests like that sometimes, and I'm lucky to live close to their resting places to be able to do so. I'm happy the video can in a way feel like you're there, I wanted it to be a way for all her fans to feel like they can pay their respects to her. Greetings and Best Wishes from Hollywood!

@@LadyMandyFlora Thank you very much for everything you do and for making fans happy that we cannot be so close where the great stars of Hollywood rest and visit the magical places where their lives lived. I'm glad to hear that you feel the same way I do about the Hollywood stars of the 50's, many of today's actresses and singers are inspired by these stars of the past like Bettie Page who created a unique style and was a advanced in its time for its very daring designs for that time. Thank you Miss Lady for your contribution and generosity, you are an incredible woman to admire. If what you say is true where you are us that we are so far away and we do not have the means to travel to Los Angeles. Greetings and best wishes to you too!
