I went to FINATICS one of my favorite fish stores. They specialize in cichlids. Wow... do they ever. Unfortunately the store was very busy when I was there and I didn't get to film as much as I would have liked to.
I went there looking for some melon barbs and plants. What did I get?

I was waiting for the chiclids for 10 minutes. Looks good. "Now we come to chell dwellers" while showing leptosoma. They spawn in open water and are moutbrooders. Quite the oposite, but you did say you are not an expert. Your plants show signs of nitrogen deficiency. You need to slow down on water changes or add fertilizer containing nitrogen. Thats so cool how they have the plants 🌱 in sections and levels of difficulty. Chris you definitely need a cichlid tank🙂my java fern does the same as yours does and i fertilize them too, anubias same for me great! Wow ive never seen a lfs that negotiated prices.. great video chris and yes get cochlids🙂👍🏻

Hey Chris yes lots of fantastic South and Central American Cichlids on show there wow I would love to visit that shop, the fish you said Barracuda is a Flagtail very nice fish that gets to about a foot in size

Your tour from Finatics Aquarium is fantastic, lots of fish and plants available. I have seen many Oranda aquariums with low water but I don't know the reason. Cichlids from every continent, lake and river. I guess you couldn't leave without buying anything there. Happy Sunday Chris

Super selection on the Africans especially the lake Tanganyika cichlids, it is nice to see mono angels in there, i used to keep these with my africans they worked well.

Their tanks look great and are so well lit! Ooh the plant section... everything is labeled, even the buces, and look super healthy and algae free!!🤤😍 They do need to carry stubbie's shubbies! I have the same love hate relationship with java ferns that you do. I moved what was left of my more broad leaved types to my black water tank and they seem to be doing a little better, it's lower light and more acidic, I only fertilize with trace and potassium in that tank, nitrates get up to about 40ppm before a WC, which is a bit higher than most of my other tanks. It's only been a few months though. The "windelov" variety does better for me in general. Great tour, Chris, I really enjoyed it and I know if I was closer, I'd be living part time in their plant section! 😂 Hope you have a nice weekend! 🙂👍

Nice store Chris. I love cichlids. Me and the Mrs used to breed and sell Malawi mbuna cichlids until we had a house fire with 100% loss. Goldfish in the UK are so cheep we use them as feeders or start up fish.

Looks like an interesting place to visit with lots of quality fish but I didn't see my favourites, ranchu/lionhead goldfish or keyhole cichlids. 🥺Some of the orandas looked really nice though but I still have my favs. I do have to say I was impressed with how clean the tanks were and how healthy all of the fish looked. 👍🏻Something you don't often see these days in any stores selling fish.

Great store there Stubbs. I found that lighting affects Java fern more than anything. I have some Brazilian Penywort floating and not being eaten by goldfish.

My juvenile shubunkin goldfish are pretty good.. They don't eat my water lettuce, my only good ferns, my stem plants or rooted Pennywort Thanks. I appreciate the assistance

$11 for those Denison barbs is a steal ! Definitely wouldn’t blow $60 each for the golden ones lol. They definitely don’t like being moved around so definitely wanna set up a permanent home for them. I’ll be throwing all of my fish in big plastic bins while I tear down my 135 and replace it with a new tank soon so I won’t be surprised if I lose a few of them 😬

Was there a few weeks ago, tanks were pristine and fish were all great and healthy. Very clean shop and great selection of dry goods and extreme foods as well. Very nice

Thanks Joe. I have only been there twice and have always heard so much about it. I certainly wasn't disappointed going there and was well worth the 2.5 hr drive there. I will definitely be back. I bought a large bucket of northfin flakes

Looks awesome reminds me of my local fish store before they started hiring a bunch of highschoolers and fired all the knowledgeable folk who were in the hobby for longer then these high-school kids have been around. If I sound bitter it's because the past oh 10 or so fish I got from there either died or gave my tank tons of problems smh. They do have a really awesome circular Dennison barb tank I'll have to take a short clip for you next time I'm there (atleast their food quality hasn't suffered) Tara got me hooked on crypts they're pretty awesome and they can get alot bigger then you'd think too.

Every time I mention I can't keep Java ferns lush, I get recommended with potassium. When I had them, I did dose a general Macro liquid ferts which had potassium in it, but maybe it wasn't enough or my water just isn't for them.
