Alex there are color codes for the wiring that trailer all trailers 4 wire is Brown is running lights Green is right turn and brake light Yellow is left turn and brake light White is GRND 7 wire plug White is Grnd Black is pwr Green is right turn and brake light Yellow is left turn and brake light Blue is brake controller Brown is running lights Red is a Aux or reverse light. Alex put a box at the frt or rear of the axles you can run just the blue brake wire in and then split to the 4 wheels or run your other wires in and out that way easier to repair if needed, also rather then run all the way up the right side with marker wire run over to it from the front box.

Don’t forget some dielectric grease on your terminals , they will rust over time

Awesome to do it yourself and now know what you got. Poor Robert was killing himself with wiring on his trailer for so long. Thanks for the link for the trailer side blinker "thingy" .

A pro tip for you. Stop using plastic multi wire. Use double insulated rubber coated wire. I order it from Cumberland truck parts by the rolls..you can get 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 wire in it. It doesn't crack and break like plastic shielded wire strains and you will have less electrical issues over the long term.

when routing wiring, the thing to remember is, "THINGS THAT DONT MOVE, DONT RUB". wires hanging will rub through in short time. i would put dielectric grease on the connections in those junction boxes.

I have one that is similar to what you have on the side signal. It allows you to press the brakes without it coming on. It only comes on with the turn signal. Nicely done

I forgot to mention before, but the new breakaway switch you put on, should be turned forward some. You want it so the key can pull straight out as the trailer recedes backward away from the truck. As it is now, when the trailer moves back, the key will be pulled sideways toward the front of the trailer and break it off instead of pulling it out. The key is only plastic.

I just installed one of these on a friend's camper. I figured out that there's an SAE standard and an RV standard. Why can't they have just one standard? It's very annoying.

Great job wring. Like you said verify the wire function, not the wire colors. I don't know if I would crawl under something with just jack stand and no tires. Looks like you have acquired skills to build your own trailers. Thanks for videos and have a great day.

One of the first things I do to a trailer (new and used) is rewire it. Most of the companies use cheap wire and those unsealed squeze connections

You need to add dielectric grease to the plugs and junction boxes to keep them from corroding and making your voltage drop again

Amazon is a great place to get nuts and bolts. You can get a thousand or so in an assortment box for the price of about ten of those little bags at Home Depot. Great job with your trailer project.

Marker lights on home gamer trailers use the brown wire and green and yellow for turn signals, I would've done it that way, but looks good

Thats the way to do it. I hate fixing wiring. Its best to just remove all the old stuff and start over. Much faster and better in the long run.

What is the “reese towing thing” called? At first I was confused on what it was for but seems like you want the marker lights to flash as well as stay on at night. So wouldn’t be wired only to the common brown wire, but green or yellow depending on side. So it cancels out the brake function.

Those little batteries are worth about 5 sec of braking time (if you're lucky) ditch it and use a full size battery

Alex try putting in oiled Bronze Bushings in bolts so you boxes don't get stretched out holes.

Take a paint marker by your junction boxes and write on the trailer what color of wires go to which lights and such.

"Probably the last load for the ram" 😂 You always say you're done using it, but somehow you end up using it. I think deep down inside you just want to get it back on the road. Besides, this is the Tow Piglet youtube channel. Its only the Tow Piglet youtube channel if at least every couple videos, something breaks. You should put a built 24 valve in it, put a built transmission in it, change out the gearing in the rear end, and dually swap it to make it the ultimate tow pig. Instead of using a normal box, put an aluminum flatbed on it to reduce some weight.

I had a neighbor, classmate start building trailers. They all had worked with another trailer maker. They had half a dozen locals who had trailers come in. Heavy wires, either in conduit, plastic tube or heavy, winter rated cord. (At least the cord to plug in). Most get stuff, crack below 10f. Sealed junction box... and ground return wires. (Not just frame ground). Unfortunately the owner committed massive fraud. It wasn’t cheap but I was considering buying one just before shtf. Here is a truck for you. AZ Hauling I hooked up back up lights to my camper through the 7 way and just put a set of led lights on the bumper

@@azhauling4109 They make a standard oval LED white light that works great for back up lights. They look like the side markers he put on the trailer with the metal bracket and rubber mounting boot. And the 7 prong plug already has connection for them. That is what I use on my car hauler.

I don't quite understand the purpose of the Reese box for the side marker/turn lights. You should have been able to direct wire them, the same as the tail lights for tail/turn/brake.

Turn & brake light are one wire. So when you hit you brakes your side marker turns on. The Reese box disables that

@@TowPiglet That is true. Even on semi's the turn light comes on with the brake light. It is additional warning for anyone beside the long trailer, where they are unable to see your trailer brake lights or truck break lights.
