3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 RGBW Multicolor Underglow LED Kit Install
In this video, I will show you how I installed an LED Underglow kit from Diode Dynamics. In addition, I will also show you how I tied the underglow kit to the factory cargo lamps, allowing the kit to illuminate whenever a door is opened & whenever the vehicle is unlocked (via the key fob or the touch handle proximity sensors).

I wanted to install additional RGBW lighting to match the Demon Eyes that I installed on my custom headlamps. Adding this Underglow kit allows me to control both components simultaneously! In addition, this LED kit is a great alternative to Rock Light kits and since it is universal, the applications for this kit are endless.

Thank you! The hardest part of installing these LEDS was just figuring out how to secure them and routing all of the wiring... Electrical work usually tends to be tedious work (if done correctly), but not impossible. Thanks for watching!

Did you wind up needing the cable extensions that you ordered? Btw I'm quikrain that you recently replied to on TW. I'm still interested in the look of this (just busy with other stuff lately) and I feel like it just provides more usable light than just the rock lights. When I finally get it done, I'll share the results.

I used two of the extra shorter cables that I ordered so that I could mount the Bluetooth controller under the hood next to my auxiliary power source / fuse panel.

Nice work and look. What's the trick for having the projector RGB synced with the same color and pattern from the underglow?

The trick is to buy all of your rgbw lights from Diode Dynamics lol 😆. The demon eyes (projector lights) and the underglow lights are both controlled by a bluetooth controller, and by using their app, you can group multiple components together to be controlled together (or you can control them individually)... You can choose different patterns, colors, sync them to music, etc. The only thing I wish the underglow led lights could do would be "chasing" LED colors... but besides that, I really love the rgbw products from Diode Dynamics 😁

I'm wondering how you got the shots at the end with your done lights off? I thought they only activated with the dome light.

I actually wired them to work with the "cargo" light switch (the switch on the Tacoma that says "on / door / off"). The cargo light automatically comes on when you unlock the car or open a door... plus, you can turn the lights on whenever you want by just selecting "on". The cargo light is the white led light built into your third brake light to illuminate the bed of the truck.

Can you pick the colors so that it will stay one color without changing? Like with a remote or app?

Yes you can! It's controlled with a bluetooth app and you can control the lights for whatever color / pattern you want. The app also allows you to create any custom setting you want for the leds too 😁

I haven't had any issues in regards to water💧 so far. As long as you don't try to drive through a lake, you should be okay lol 🤣

Lmao! I was waiting for a comment like this lol 😆 It is just a fun install. Plus I like the fact that I can just leave the LEDS in a "solid white" mode so that the Taco will light up the ground when I unlock the doors at night...

It could be... you could set the lights to red when camping at night (since red light doesn't mess with a person's "night vision" and it wouldn't attract a lot of bugs)... it has its practical uses...
