Hi Darryl, thank you. Enjoy that Elf, it is a really nice little amp and it does have a nice "flavor" to it's sound that I really like.

Great compact bass amp. Tried it out in an audition. The band had a 2x15 ampeg cab at 4ohms. It held up great with plenty of power. Just a great little amp!

Brian Au glad you liked it, with a 2x15 4ohm box it delivers full power which is a good thing. I love those cabs.

@@samatza Yes I did, still wondering whether or not to buy one. Can two cabs be run of it 4x10 and a 1x15. Basically its' the same power as the 4x10 Trace Elliot combo I presently have with the extra mentioned bass cab. I was thinking of updating and tweaking it a little
@samatza
@samatza 3 жыл бұрын
@@trevoraindow2440 you can use two 8 Ohm cabs (total 4Ohms) with the Elf. I’m not sure which model combo you are running at the moment but most will take an extension cab. The Elf is tiny and the 1x10” and 2x8” cabs are also very compact. Of curse bigger cabs with more/larger drivers generally deliver more volume. If you can try them out at a local store.

@@samatza Okay thanks for that. The smaller cars you mentioned are best and have decent volume, I need to try out in a shop

@@trevoraindow2440 Largely it depends on your goals. For me I don't need a big amp very often so an Elf say with two 1x10" cabs is powerful enough and easy to transport. If I needed more power then bigger cabs, say 4x10" would be appropriate. In this case I may as well use a bigger amp and have the headroom, seeing as I'm already carrying the cabs the physical size of the amp doesn't matter. I've had lots of great reports from guys like me who are getting older and don't want to shift heavy gear, the Elf at 200W @ 4 Ohms is light and very easy to carry. Let me know what you think when you've tried it out.

talk friend, I'm in Brazil. and I wanted to buy a head like that, but I'm in doubt, its voltage, what would be its voltage, and bivolt
@samatza
@samatza Жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, thanks for making contact. I'm assuming you mean the mains voltage- if you are buying locally it should come with the correct mains voltage and correct IEC cable to plug it in. You can get some more information on the Elf here: peavey.com/ItemFiles/Manual/te-elf-om.pdf I noticed on a cursory search for the mains voltage in Brazil that there are actually two supply voltages: 127 and 220 volts, I don't know how you can handle that with the TE unit. Perhaps email to Peavey and ask if they can provide some more information on your situation. Be well, keep making music.
@samatza
@samatza Жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, I sent Peavey an email to ask about your dual voltage question, I'll let you know as soon as I receive a reply. :)
@samatza
@samatza Жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, Peavey customer service confirmed that the voltage is not switchable on the TE Elf, this means it's either the 220V or 110V version, it cannot do both. So it's not going to work if you travel to areas with different supply voltages. I hope this information helps. :)

Hi Agustin, I can't tell you how it sounds with upright bass as I don't have one to try here. Perhaps someone who uses it this way can chime in and tell us what they think. Be well.

I think it would make a great “back up” amp to bring along to gigs unless your SVT went up in smoke midway 😁
@samatza
@samatza 5 жыл бұрын
fred fabris yes, it’s so small and light you could keep it in your gig bag in case problems arise with your main amp or if like me you use IEM and go straight to FOH you could use it as a preamp/ DI.

A great review! How would you hook up the ELF amp to three Trace Elliot speaker cabinets? The 2 x 8 and two 1 x 10s? So you get the two 8s and two 10s. Thank you.
@samatza
@samatza 4 жыл бұрын
Valeron5 thank you, glad you found it useful. You can use up to 2 Trace Elliot cabs with the Elf at one time. The minimum load for the amp is 4ohms, since the speakers are 8 ohms per cabinet hooking up more than two will likely damage the amp. With either two 10” cabs or two 2x8” cabs it’s a very portable rig that will handle most situations.
@Valeron5
@Valeron5 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for answering! Which combination would sound the best? Two 2x8s? One 2x8 and one 10"? Or two 10" cabinets?
@samatza
@samatza 4 жыл бұрын
@@Valeron5 Either of those two cabs will work the sound comes down to personal preference. If you can try these out it would be best. Personally I would love a pair of the 2x8 cabs so I could take either one or two depending on the gig. I know some guys like to mix the cabs but I prefer to have two cabs that are the same.

@Valeron5 Personally, I prefer 2 10” cabs. I feel that I get a richer, fuller sound with those, as compared to the 2x8. I’m NOT saying that the 2x8 sounds bad-it doesn’t. It’s just my personal preference. If you can, find a store that has a Trace setup and try it. Go with whatever sounds right to you.🙂✌🏾❤️🎶

I totally agree, of course it depends on the band. I play with a 6 piece band that this would work in and a 3 piece band where it would probably struggle a little bit.

Hi, Would you recommend this amp for classic rock and metal tones . Just for practice and small gigs running it at the full 200 watts ?
@samatza
@samatza 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Robbie, thanks for the message, this is a good question. Depending on how loud the band is overall you may get away with it but for rock and metal I would really go for more power. From personal experience having some headroom in the amp is always a good thing, plus you won't be happy if your amp is constantly hitting the limiter. Don't get me wrong, it packs a punch for such a small package but for rock and metal I'd probably use a GK 100RB amp, rated at 750W I know from personal experience that it easily competes with a loud drummer and loud guitar amps. For the stuff I do the Elf is fine because on stage volume is low and we have FOH support so for me it's more of a monitor. I hope this helps answer your question.

Bigger cabs work well, too. I demoed this amp with an Ampeg 2x12, Gain and VOL at 12:00 and it was stupid loud.
@samatza
@samatza 5 жыл бұрын
@@GoonSquadLifeMember Indeed, bigger cabs usually produce louder results. I suppose it's something you have to try and see if it fits the bill for you.
