There have been many great singer-songwriters that have come and gone in the music industry, but there is none like the genre-defining Bob Marley. The reggae music pioneer’s flawless songwriting infused with a sense of spirituality made him a global superstar and symbol of rebelling against oppression. Marley's music also reminded the world to have a good time. Songs like “Three Little Birds,” “Sun Is Shining,” and “One Love” pushed the message of the importance of love and peace. But in contrast to his positive songwriting, Marley’s life was filled with tragedy and loss. To discover the darker side of this legend's life, watch this video.

Bob Marley's music is timeless. We can play his music 20 years from now and people will still love it. Hearing his songs gets you into such a peaceful vibe about life you feel that anything is possible. And to think his children are carrying on with that message. I'll never forget when I first listened to Bob Marley sing "Could You Be Loved" at a feast in Spain, (up in the mountains). I began to dance by myself because I've never heard music like that and his voice. I thought he was philosophical in his way. I asked my cousin to get me the name of the song and who sung it. It saddens me about Bob Marley when he passed. I try not to think about those nice memories. There gone just like all my family... Please respect me. Thank you.

I was around when Indica was first grown in Cali in the late 1970's No one in the domestic weed world at that time was into Marley ...yet. In fact Cali growers and dealers then were baffled at best by Rastas and Reggae music. I wasn't cause like Rastafarians I smoked it for spiritual purposes and had studied lots of esoteric metaphysical theology. Reggae musicians, Marley included, hadn't yet had the finest grown Cannabis Indica on the planet, then only grown outdoors in N. Cali. from seed brought in from Afghanistan. With his death, my dream of givin Bob his first taste would never come to pass. But believe it or not ... his son Ziggy would get his first, circa 1987, from me. Thanks for letting me share, One Love !

The guy was blessed beyond what's possible.. in addition to his huge talent for music and singing, his oversized love and compassion for others, he was amazingly beautiful !! i'm surprised not to ever read a comment about this .. I guess men are embarrassed to say it (me I don't mind), but I don't understand why women don't.. It's not always the case, but his external appearence was absolutely equal to his spirit and soul ... lightening and beautiful ;..

Good video as always. When I was in Jamaica in 1995, posters of Bob Marley were everywhere I looked, and his music rang out everywhere I went. I always respected that he refused to take political views; I wish a few Americans would get on board with that. Although it has nothing to do with activism, or a call to peace, my favorite song of his has always been Two Joints.

It opens with the Ludicrous suggestion that Led Zeppelin is on the same level as Bob Marley. Marley's perception as a freedom fighter and champion of the oppressed all over the world just continues to grow along with fans of his music. Even the Beatles who may have had a greater impact on Music in their dominant period probably have a decline in how much their music is played among the young when Bob's music grows among them and of course they can't compare as an inspiration to people needing a better life.

Bob was murdered by someone from the CIA. The man who did it confessed on his death bed (on KZfaq) because his conscience wouldn't let him die without telling the truth first. He also said he believed Bob was a good man and shouldn't have been mocked and hounded the way he had been. Bob spoke against the system, singing songs of freedom & standing up for your rights. He was a threat, too well known and well liked to be allowed to remain. Another life cut short for no reason other than fear and greed 🦋🙏🏼 His spirit remains .. his message stays the same ♥️

1978- I arrived on a Royal Navy ship in San Diego, my first day in America. so, naturally, as a sailor, I had to go to the beach to see the angels, and they were. The girls were stunningly beautiful. Someone said, ' Bob Marley was in concert that night in San Diego. How could I not turn up. Imagine how fantastic it was to see him live on a warm, clear and perfect evening. An eternal memory, there was a funny moment when someone standing next to me, said to his friend,' Hey, this guy's really good, what's his name again!'. I nearly dropped.
