If you didn't follow the link. We will give a brief description of vertical lift bridge No. 17
While there are more then a few vertical lift bridges around the old and new Welland Canal. This was the only one design to carry a single railroad track across the Welland Canal.
From another online reference we gather the last time lift bridge No. 17 rose above the water line was probably around 1973 as that was about the time boats would have started going down the newer section of the Welland Canal.
In this video we catch an eastbound Gio Railway #1859 running light through the bridge and then around bend close by the Verbio plant in Dain City.
