This is not an area we know a whole lot about and will likely have to come back and revise this description at a future date.
The one thing we know for certain is Welland Tube spur has historical ties to CASO Subdivision which was also previously part of the Michigan Central and New York Central and Penn Central mainline many ages ago.
The other part that is problematic is who does the Welland Tube spur belong too nowadays.
When we visit Paul Duncan's CN WELLAND TUBE SPUR web page www.niagararails.com/wts.phtml last updated around 2009 we believe.
The title of page suggest ownership belongs to CN, but in 2023 we can see what looks like a CP relay box at trackside and CPR stickers on the crossing gate directly in front of our position.
So something has changed, but we are not certain of what at the moment and will probably have to come back and revised this description as we discover more details. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Now with the video we see the double track just ahead of us which belongs to the Welland Tube Spur, but north of the double track Welland Tube Spur is 3 more crossing which are industrial leads that come off the Welland Tube Spur just east of where we are on Rusholme Road in Welland, Ontario.
We have no idea what industries leads goto, but this is where we catch Gio Railways #108 pulling out what appears as an empty lumber / drywall car from Universal Resource Recovery INC.
We are not sure if Universal Resource Recovery is the name current of the operation in the area as under massive redevelopment. This is something will have to come back later as we learn more...
Thanks for sticking with for this and is our hope is we can improve this discription sometime in the future, but for now we leave like this.

Good thing the sedan and the trucks got out of the way of the dockside switcher especially because the crossing the switcher went on did not have any warning lights and gates, whereas the other one did have lights and gates.

Indeed you nade interesting point. Like why didn't the road didn't get flagged if protection are know not to activate from those tracks. It's a bit odd.

Cool. And yea the tube spur is CP, you’ll notice the West Welland Industrial Lead (Vesuvius Spur) is owned and maintained by CP too as it’s also apart of the CASO, Lines up on the map with the tube spur.

I get confused by this subject, because it sounds like the CASO was a shared adventure with CN and CP and then CN gave it up to CP at some point in time. Is that an accurate assessment?

@@Trains4Fun correct yes but in the Niagara Area, CP bought it all out changing every portion of the former CASO to CP

Great video. How often does this train make these pick up/ drop offs? We are thinking of going out that way for a road trip to video trains but I mean it's a fairly long haul from Kitchener to Welland. Your video from our that way looks as though I can get out of the car and video from my wheelchair as there seems to be a lot of paved areas.

I have to tell you. When i go out railfanning in the Welland area I drive through this area almost everytime. Like probably 100 times already and this was my first time I ever seen this train move. First it was like I notice a couple things differently then usual and that was the car park out in front of the open gates and also 108 had it's light on. While this was a nice catch for us. It's not something you would likely see working, but we caught this right around 3pm in case you are wondering. Also I'm not sure what constitute wheel chair friendly, but their no sidewalks on either side, but the road is paved. Good Luck!!

@@Trains4Fun paved roads are fine, I mean I don't need a smooth mall surface to get out of the car but a mall surface is awesome for doing laps and dodging other able bodied folk scramble to get out of the way.

@@Phantom-Signal Mall paved roads. Haha that would be something, but just watch out for construction in the area at the moment. More then usual amount of big trucks are roaming through area. When are you planning your road trip to Welland?
