0:28 is the sickest start to this solo. It's the same exact note 4 times that catches you but it's played differently every time, back and forth - he keeps going to the same note but it's the style of it that sounds so good. Everything is so clean. You've got a new sub and a new fan for sure

I truly think people connect to solos that are easily interpreted to be a "sung part". The beginning has "lead vocals" written all over it. Just imagine a lead singer singing vocals with those notes. It's like the song was written around that instead of vice versa.

Sounds like it could've been a studio version of the latest Steve Vai record. Especially that little lick with the harmonics at 0:34 is pure brilliance. And those little stops throughout to push the groove just make you bop your head.

The build from 0:28 to 0:40 is immense... I love how progressive it sounds; rather than just jumping into all the fast stuff right away, you're still soloing but it's way more relaxed and collected using wide scales across the lower end of the neck... Absolutely amazing work 👍
