I transitioned ! And one day I seriously just woke up and said "today's the day lol" and cut off my transitioning ends. I can so relate and agree with tip #9. My hair actually grew faster in the 6 month after cutting off my permed ins then during my year of transitioning. So let go and let God lolllll

My go to styles are: 1) a low sleek bun which I preserve for days by putting a scarf on head every night before I sleep so I would avoid brushing my hair every time I have to leave the house. 2) I put my hair in about 14-16 plaits. I keep it for a week and wear a hat if I have to leave the house then the 2nd week I take it down and it gives a bomb braidout. Because of the size of the plaits, it blends nicely with my transitioning hair.

@@vh7637 that is not true. I've had relaxed hair for 11 years and I'm perfectly fine. Although I am transitioning simply because I got a relaxer done at a Dominican salon and they used a relaxer that was too strong and damaged my hair. So much to the point where i don't think my hair can take another relaxer lol. So the best option for me is to go natural for my hair to be healthy.

New subscriber here, so glad I found you.....no other youtuber really went through all these definitions and explained what it means, or a simply explanation. From the very 1st episode I started to watch....a big thank you for taking the time to explain all these words/sayings, which I had no idea now I will understand when other people talk about transitioning to natural hair. I have no idea what type hair my daughter has, I'm taking a guess 4c.

I remember transitioning. It was long and hard and mostly unpleasant, but it was also a journey, not just of my hair, but of my spirit as well, as I learned to love myself better without this beauty ideal that I was SO attached to that was honestly doomed to be a lost cause. I went for a tapered pixie cut with my big chop and that growth process was wild lol (I don't recommend the tapered cut for your big chop unless that's the style you want to keep) but for where my hair is at today: long, healthy 3c/4a curls, it was all SO WORTH IT. If you're going through this, STAY STRONG, it WILL get 1000x better!

GREAT VIDEO! Ive been natural since 2014 but im currently transitioning from heat damage. I created a regimen to try to get my curls to revert and its working... its just very tedious. I might make a KZfaq if I become successful with it. I got inspiration by watching videos of females that went completely heatless after straightening 2-4 times a month, and seeing the gradual progression of their hair and curl pattern

I thought ever since I had my big chop, that I will never be able to grow out my hair. It was always on that same position. But then I tried some new hair products and started doing things different to my and then wooooosh my hair has grown from TWA to jaw length (I know that's not a terminology). And then it grew from jaw length to NL. I was very impressed. Had a lot of stress going on in those days. Now it is 2019 and my hair has grown from neck length almost JUST NEARLY at CBL. ALMOST there. Like a baby trying to grab his/her mother's hand. I am very pleased about that. I have been natural for about 3 years half way to 4 years since this month is May. I am very happy with myself.😊 What about y'all?

That 1st tip is so important and I wish I had done it when I big chopped almost 5 years ago. I cried for an hour straight and hid my hair for 4.5 years which did nothing for my natural hair journey. I'm glad I'm mentally stronger now but I could've saved so much money and tears if I'd done it all those years ago lol.

Yay! Team Natural gang. But the only thing I disagree with when you go natural, is wearing wigs for a protective style. I’m natural and don’t wear wigs at all. To protect my hair, I just braid. That’s it. I just look at wigs as wearing somebody else’s hair. To me it’s fake and not natural cause it don’t mimic your hair. That’s how I feel. But you do you.

Did a big chop 6 years post transitioning. My hair has a gorgeous curl pattern EXCEPT for one small area on my left side it will not hold a curl.... so frustrating!! Any suggestions?

Hey please I’d like to know if Jheri curl is good for natural hair. I don’t like to apply heat to my hair though I steam the hair and that’s all. Thanks in anticipation of your quick response
