Another system generated using Mongoose Traveller 2008 v1 edition. This time an interesting zero atmosphere world.

I think that one explanation for the two systems adjacent to Talon having Imperial Consulates could be because of Talon being an Amber zone. The Naval presence in both systems could also be a limited blockade. Secondary point - a planet with large oceans and a captive government next door to a desert planet - could Ozark be captive to Toxon? (Edit having reached the end - I see you have considered Toxon perhaps being involved).

I like the sounds of that, with some fun for the players to navigate a tight border control through those Naval forces on route.

@@RottenMechGaming yup. "Can I see your authorisation papers for travel to Talon? What's that? You don't have them? You didn't know you needed them? Didn't you see all the info posters at the starport clearly advising that you need to obtain authorisation from the Imperial Consulate for travel to Talon?" "Errrrmmm, no." "Ensign - search this ship inside out. Lieutenant, take these individuals into custody; I will interrogate them later."

I've really enjoyed your world building. Lots of detail, and interesting cultures. Great job. Warm regards, Rick.

Glad you enjoyed them. Not been on here for a while and do want to get back onto some video making. I have dropped out of the local roleplaying scene at the end of last summer to and not found a new home yet, so more time on required to build up my gamer mojo :)

I have to say I really do appreciate you posting this videos. I'm sure there are more Traveller content out there. But outside of Seth Skorkowsky there aren't many things readily available. There are excellent actual plays, but not a lot on the mechanics behind building star systems or worlds. These have been a joy to watch. I wish I had the patience to go through and do a spread sheet in excel like that, I am much more of a pen and paper guy.

Seth is inspiring with the great detailed content. I agree there is a bit of a gap on Traveller and a tendency for D&D to take the lions share. Thanks for the comment.

I'd say Seth ought to be getting paid for boosting Mongoose Traveller so effectively, but since he's literally started writing adventures for them I guess he *is* getting paid now. :)

My first thought with trace atmosphere and high tech was a planet in the middle of terraforming... it’s been fun to watch, made me fish out my own travelled books (5th ed big books and a few smaller pamphlets).
@RottenMechGaming3 жыл бұрын
I did also consider terraforming but fell into quick denial thinking it would be too obvious a cliche scifi standard. But on reflection it feels like something that could work. Perhaps some resisting it and others happy to progress. Glad you liked it. Thanks

Thank you for walking through this! I started creating my first adventure, but I need to flesh out the subsector. There are some online generators but I like the interactive thoughtful way you walk through this. Would you be willing to share the spreadsheet?

Really glad you found some benefit from it. I will see if I can find my spreadsheet link.

I'm really enjoying the world building that you're doing in this series, it's not only nice to see how this system works but also how you are approaching creating these locations just enough detail to provide inspiration for adventures there but not so much that you're going to get bogged down. When you're running a session are you generating locations and NPC's on the fly or do you have some pre-generated to insert?
@RottenMechGaming3 жыл бұрын
I make locations, companies and NPC’s up on the fly. Thanks for watching, really appreciate the comment.

Will we be seeing another world building video any time soon?

Yes I was thinking about it this week. Another visit to the system is required. I have been a bit slack with youtube so far this year. Need some inspiration but work is also a drain on energy.

Could be interesting to hear more about connecting characters and world.

Think an episode on mixing character backgrounds would be a good idea thanks.

Could Ozarks love of fashion mean elaborate Vaac suits, the higher the social standing the more exoticand elaborate the suits( labourers have the simplest and plainest)? diffenet factions have different styles? Thinking The Hawkmoon series of books where they wore different masks!
@RottenMechGaming3 жыл бұрын
That sounds ace! A sort of industrial fashion perhaps some bright suits and others augmented with advanced materials, perhaps even bat-like wing attachments and strange technical head dress wires as part of the vacc suit.

@@RottenMechGaming I can see the privileged strutting on their open topped boats like a fashion show. Priscilla- Queen of the Ocean HA!

Yes and the Hawkmoon class/faction part would be interesting to help identify by helmet/fitting of vacc suit.

@@RottenMechGaming Might do a re-read of some of Niven's Known Space short stories for inspiration too. His Belters all wore elaborately personalized suits (with custom artwork, unique color schemes, etc) because they spent so much time in them, and sneered at "casual spacers" who wore plain, utilitarian suits.

Where did you pick up that dice tower? It's quite classy.
