Slash 4x4 VG Racing track tuned GTR springs upgrade for my GTR shocks. The Traxxas springs are too soft and VG Racing are much stiffer and should help my track tuning. Install and track testing. I put the VG GTR shock springs on my GTR shocks on my Rustler 4x4 and now I have very good damping love the VG springs !!!!!!!!

Omg. Sweet video. I’m with OEM 100WT about 3/4 ajustement down rear and front. Saw your video and did order VG shock spring and brace after chassis split in 2 parts. Thx Cheers.

Im having that same problem and I’m running 60 weight on the front and 55 on the back, I’m going to get the losi hard springs for the back and i might get medium for the front, I’m running the pro-line pro-specs, but I’m having the same exact issue you did, I’m glade I found this video

Everyone raves about these VG springs...especially on the new Raptor R. But all i ever see are pictures and drop tests....no race footage. Your video confirms my suspicions. Too stiff for the track. I run the blue springs on my raptor and its the perfect balance on and off road. Stock shock oil front and rear

I don’t think they are too stiff and a new Raptor would be an even heavier RC. IMO these VG springs are still superior to GTR spring options from traxxas. But glad you got a set you like!

I have a new unlimited and notice the springs are like a good 1/4 inch or so short you have to adjust them quite a bit just to get to the spring just to start getting some tension on them. I did notice that these new one you got are the same length? Why would they make the springs shorter than the shock spring mount to mount? Sorry I am a newbie.

Those Springs from VG Racing are amazing they are far better than the Traxxas stock ones and all of my 10th scale Traxxas vehicles have them. and they can get the job done. I do not know why Traxxas hadn't done that?

I put these on my stock springs on the 4x4 slash... now it's bouncy as hell and the rear is all the way up and won't compress and level out the arms now :( ugh I can't win with this thing

Great info, thanks for this. These stock GTR shocks suuuuuuck for track. Even the double blue traxxas springs bottom the chassis out on everything.

Why didn't you use the Traxxas chassis brace? It's aluminum and mounts with 8 screws

Front is bound up. Hinge pins are grimey, or shock screws are too tight.

What weight shock oil did you finally like?

I cannot remember it was many many years ago. If not on video, I dont know. But likely 30-50 range.

i was wondering the same, since you asked this 7 months ago what set up did you arrive at? i have the gtr w/ vy springs, variable dampening kit 1.56mm holes f&r 50w oil. can drop it from about 16" with out bottoming. might go s little lighter on the oil

I just put my GTRs on my Rustler 4x4 last night and the way it reacts to pushing down on it is exactly like yours @ 0:10 in. I haven't even driven it yet but the whole point of upgrading was to avoid bottoming out constantly, even on the dumbest things. I realize the Rustler is a low COG stadium truck but still, it's just dragging the body half the time which is dumb for a multitude of reasons. I went with the black (0.767 rate) up front (long) and the black (0.874 rate) in back (xx-long). I had no advice so I went on the stiffer side, but from what it seems, even the stiffest is far too plush. I want this son of a bitch to snap back into place after bottoming out, and then I can soften it up if I'm ripping through the woods. Sounds like this little upgrade to the VC Racing shocks is the ticket. For the low price, I may just buy them ahead of time. Something tells me I'm not going to like the performance of these springs tomorrow and I just paid a lot of money to upgrade to these shocks.
