This video shows some of the common tree seeds that can be collected throughout the eastern United States during the fall time. This is just a handful of the many trees that drop there seeds in the fall time. Most tree seeds need to go through stratification, thus resulting in trees dropping there seeds in the fall. hope this video is beneficial and if you have any questions feel free to comment. I am determined to grow my own trees. I live on the prairie in rural Colorado. Despite being only about 10 miles away from Black Forest, we have 1 single Blue Spruce tree here. Id really like to go foraging for some seeds, but have no idea where to start. Thats what Youtune and Google are for! A wealth of knowledge and wisdom, such as yours, shared with everyone around the world. 😊

I have a bur oak I planted that just sprouted but the acorn is large as an egg.

I believe the acorns from the species you didn't know are from pin oaks. They have small rounded acorns with stripes. Pin oaks are the most common oak where I live, so I recognize those acorns.

I grew bald cypress in containers and after a year I had to plant them outside they grew like 3 feet

Hi there! I started collecting seed pods that I believe are different types of magnolia tree's. It is summer here in the Chicago area at the moment and the pods are green and closed up. Will they be ok to let dry out inside my home or would they do better outside on my deck? One of them looks like your Magnolia too :) Hope to hear back from you!

Omg! I collected the red ones at a park and I’m trying to find out if they’ll actually grow! I’ve tried growing so many things from seeds but nothing seems to grow so I’m curious if they’re just not pollinated?!?

im trying to put some trees down and daffodils to help them. I have some sapplings of junipers they always get cut in the garden but I want to move them down the block where there's no trees.

Bro, I wish I could collect seeds out in the wild but I don’t live in an area where there’s 4 seasons. I live in Phx, AZ and it is wayyyy too hot for maples, magnolia, and oak trees like summer here it goes up to 120°F that shit will kill ‘em hell I would too I be like “ay it’s too hot” *dies within seconds*

I dont know where you live but look around sometimes they plant them in city parks near ponds if they are big trees they will usually always have cone balls go around november and you will find all kinds of loose seeds from the balls on the ground

I collected magnolia seed pods. I’m soaking the red seeds now. I have read where they don’t store and once they dry out, they are no longer viable. Is that true?

Mine have always stratified fine!
