In this video I take a first look at the NEW (2021) Trekology Aluft Delux Pillow and compare it to the tried and tested standard Aluft 2.0 Pillow.
I also give my first impression of the pillow after using whilst wild camping with an opinion on the Delux version in comparison to the standard one.
I will follow up with a further video once I’ve used it over a period of several months.
The thoughts and actions outlined in the video are personal to me and everyone will need to view things from their own perspective.
I hope you find this video helpful and if you have any question just ask.
Further details of the pillows can be found in the links at the end.
I have no sponsorship or affiliation with any supplier and pay for everything I buy or review.
If you would like to support the channel please feel free to donate whatever you can afford, it will go towards the cost of producing the videos and every little helps.

Good review. I would agree. Whats funny, is that I spent close to $400 buying various camping pillows to pepsi challenge. And ended up using the trekology with a toddler pillow case, and a wise owl as secondary. Safe travels!

Thanks for that, this camping is an expensive hobby isn’t it…just don’t let on to my wife 😂 I’ve subsequently tried a couple of other pillows and the one I’m settled with is the largest and in my view the most comfortable for an inflatable, although the best comfort is a standard home pillow that I had cut in half and stitched up - that’s by far the best but not so for pack size! The latest inflatable is an Exped Mega Pillow which I’ve now been using over 4 months! Don’t know if you tried it for your Pepsi challenge but if not have a look here! Timely review! I've just bought the deluxe (Well a clone of it) but not had a chance to try it in the field yet. Up until now, I've just put my clothes in a stuff sack, but I'm getting older and decided I can treat myself to a little luxury even if it does use up a little space. I have to say the cover does feel pretty good on the skin. Thanks for the video. Subscribed and all that!

Very fair review. I have the classic. As a side sleeper it's perfect, I have mine slightly deflated also,so even if you are a double pillow sleeper I think trekology will fit the bill

Hi Fiona, these are the most comfortable I’ve managed to find, other than two pillows from home 😂 and nothing on it between the two for comfort factor…now I have the Delux I’ll use over time to see how it stands up 👍🏻

That new pillow will drive me crazy with all the noise it makes. Need a pillow so will look at the original model instead.

Hi Johan, to be fair it’s not as noisy in use and I’d say no different to original…hope that helps 👍🏻

Good fair review and description of both pillows. Just bought the deluxe version but haven't tried it yet, hows yours holding up after 3 months?

Thanks Gerard, yes it’s holding up well, as is the standard one! I’m swopping between the two for comparisons and to be honest both very good 👍🏻

Great review, and I agree completely! Side note: Is that a newer MSR tent? They call the current fly color “Sahara”. This appears to be more of a bronze color. I like it a lot.

Funnily enough, I’ve done a be a brief update after a year of use and that publishes tomorrow! The tent is a couple of years old but I think still the version sold and just classed as green with MSR….also called olive green by retailers and it is an olive shade…good colour 👍🏻

Looks like you have changed your tent in the background? Is this a replacement I was considering the Naturehike but have also looked at the MSRs -have you a view? (sorry not about the pillows!)
@thecampingbiker791
@thecampingbiker791 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve had the MSR Elixir2 longer than the Naturehike Cloud Up2 and like both but in different ways! The Naturehike packs smaller, weighs about a kg less and puts up quicker, the MSR is a more versatile tent with two doors and porches, has more equal headroom throughout, and is a warmer tent in winter….bit i really do like the Naturehike - I just use them on different occasions but if could only have one it would be the MSR!

The older one you mentioned had a nonslip coating of some sort. Does the new one have anything to keep it from sliding around? New one looks more comfortable butt is noisier. Older one has the seam where to me would be irritating.
@thecampingbiker791
@thecampingbiker791 3 жыл бұрын
The new one doesn’t have the nonslip on the bottom, with it having a removable cover I don’t think it would work, but it does have the same strap to go over the sleep mat. Both are very comfortable, and you can’t feel any seems even without a pillowcase cover on the older one. Can’t say the new one was noisier in actual use and I’d be happy with either one to be fair…it’s just going to take time to see if the new ones cover stands up to use and washing 👍🏻

Out of all the things I must have when camping @@thecampingbiker791 is a good pillow. I've wrapped my pillow in 2 garbage bags before to not miss a trip. Bought a $45 blow up one before & tested it 2 nights before a week trip & so glad I brought my own that trip do to the seam & crackling of the plastic. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to seeing the new campsite you were at.

I use the green one you have and half deflate it and put another squashy camping pillow on top 😂 I just saw they have the deluxe version with the case in a larger version so I’m wondering what that’s like even though I don’t need anymore pillows lol

I’m currently using a Decathlon Forclaz trek pillow and it’s very comfortable and I think better than the Aluft versions shown in that video, however I’m going to buy the larger Trekology version and test it on your behalf 😂 Here’s that Decathlon one: Decathlon | Inflatable Travel Pillow | First Review kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ncx4idqZntDJaJs.html

@@thecampingbiker791 haha more pillows for both of us then 😂 I’ll check that one out. You’re a bad influence on my pillow situation lol. Im tempted to try the decathlon memory foam deluxe one too for when I don’t have to walk far, it looks so squashy 😴 lol Definitely a trip to decathlon soon 😳

The regular aluft 2.0 is sooo much lighter though. If there is no advantage in comfort, get the lighter one.

To be honest the 2.0 is still the best of the Trekology for compactness and if backpacking wouldn’t use anything else
