I want to say that I think BTS is part of why the positions are less emphasized now - yes, they have them, but over the years they moved away from rigid positions into doing whatever was best for the song, and pursued personal performance goals outside those roles. And it's definitely better than being handed a job and confined to that exact job. Newer Hybe groups don't generally have rigid positions and I think that's a good thing. It doesn't mean they're all equally good at everything, but it does mean no one is expected to limit themselves to a specific role in the group. I love TXT... there's no question Yeonjun is the strongest dancer, you know? But they're all good, they all work hard, they're all interested in trying new things and getting better, and the company is encouraging rather than discouraging that. I don't know how far that mentality has spread outside of Hybe, but I hope it continues to catch on.
