Tributes have been paid to the six soldiers killed when their Warrior armoured vehicle was hit by an explosion in Afghanistan.
The soldier from 1st Battalion the Duke of Lancaster's regiment who died was Sergeant Nigel Coupe, 33. He was on secondment to 3 Yorks.
The five soldiers who died with him from 3rd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment were: Corporal Jake Hartley, Private Thomas Anthony Frampton, Private Daniel Wade, all aged 20, together with Private Christopher Kershaw, 19 and Private Daniel Wilford, 21.
Their deaths take the total number of British forces personnel or MOD civilians who have died while serving in the war-torn region to more than 400 since the start of operations in October 2001.

The very sad news that 6 young British servicemen were killed in Afghanistan this week reminded me of a short war poem I wrote about 30 years ago: I lost my son in a war In a foreign country I never knew before Shot by a snipers gun ... What evil caused it, what had he done? I lost me son in a war How many mothers have said this before?

Firstly I feel sorry for all the innocent people in iraq and afganistan who were killed by this governments(uk) forces, and the american governments forces and secondly yes i do feel sorry for any soldier killed as they were lied to, defending your country is one thing, invading another is another story . They are not heroes though, they are misguided men led by leaders and politicians without consciences, this applies to all countries warring governments.Doctors, firemen, nurses etc are heroes

@coronobog i agree, its not done in my name either. I have sympathy with them because they are young men and it is a waste of life. We have to believe that they are fighting for freedom but how can this be so? Invading another country isnt making the uk or usa safer. I thought the world was supposed to learn from the past wars and world war 1 and 2, i dont see much learning going on. Many have learned though many governments and people havent. Say no to the increase of militarism in the uk.
