Troubleshooting and repairing a faulty tube amp. Part 1

I Rewire a Valve Guitar Amplifier. I bought this tube amp from a guy who had been working at it on and off for years. It works fine at lower volumes, but breaks up if the volume is turned up. I decided to draw out a schematic of what's actually in the amp, to compare to the provided schematic. I'm going to begin be re-wiring the amp, to check for obvious errors, remove clutter, and make room to work and take measurements later, if necessary.
Maybe it won't be. The problem could be simply caused by bad lead dress

You did a pretty good job. Your soldering needs a little more practice but you did some great work. Amazing how most people would have taken that amp and just tossed it. But if you can get a hold of tubes, your in business. Great video!

Check your Caps. Some of those oldies have probably dried out.

I replaced all the filter caps. Actually...all except the last stage, which is the one over by the input jack

mellowb1rd a really good example of "rats nesting" circuitry. Have you checked the valves? Sounds like a rectifying problem, a cap not smoothing out the AC, or a ground loop. I think you can still get valve testers. But, you'll sort it out. I've got faith in your fault tracking skills. Just make sure you turn the power off before sticking your fingers in. Otherwise you'll be joining your plate throwing friends in the kitchen.

@@marktegan Not checked, but the valves from this amp all work fine in the Orange, and the valves from that amp, don't fix the problem in this one, so I think it's safe to temporarily rule them out. I always discharge the filter caps before I touch anything inside. I take it you're referring to the buzzing? I'll get to the buzzing. There's also a deep hum coming from the mains transformer, but it doesn't seem to come through on the video. I notice the rectifier diodes have bypass resistors, so I'll probably pull those out and try it some time, in case the values are off. It's hard to read the colour codes cus the paint is old. The red and orange are very similar. Also the violet and grey
