A two-hour police chase from San Diego to Los Angeles came to a dramatic end Tuesday when a quick-thinking truck driver turned his big rig into a roadblock. The move helped keep a person-of-interest in a murder case from getting away. The chase began when police tried to arrest the man, before he took off in his pickup truck, hitting speeds of up to 90 mph. For two hours, news networks followed the wild pursuit. Ahmed Shabaan heard on his radio that the chase was approaching, and chose to act.

look in the description, they provided a link to the GoFundMe. as a truck driver, without being able to see the inside of the engine compartment, I believe the truck would be fine. might need a new hood, light fixture, and possibly a wheel/suspension assembly, but that's it, hardly could be considered a total loss unless the very rigid frame got bent (which is really just 2 large metal beams placed parallel to each other and held together by other similarly strong beams, with everything else just held by those beams or dropped on top of it), and mainly that I see trucks that have about the same amount of damage driving on the roads each day. edit: spelling

I drove a fire truck in the inner city, the truckers were always good to us emergency service drivers. They would always try their best to give us room to get by or clear an intersection as best they could. I have hugh respect for these guys and gals. Great manover on this truckers part. He has know idea how many lives he may have saved. May God be his riding partner for the rest of his life! 👍👍👍

I'm disabled and need a powerchair in order to independently navigate my community since I can't drive due to seizures. I live really close to where this happened and I cannot stop thinking about what would have happened if I, or another disabled person, happened to be on the sidewalk that day. With no ability to jump out of the way... That's really terrifying. I'm glad they got this guy.

Hell yeah, another heroic trucker, I watched a video recently where a big rig lost its brakes and the guy managed to dodge a school bus. Also saw a trucker gently push (the person moved) someone out of the way with their rig in Gaza (It had supplies for relief efforts.) I can appreciate the level of stress truckers go thru just to bring people supplies, only for them to be stigmatized. This guy is cool, glad people helped him get his rig fixed, he's a hero.

Kudos to this semi driver for bringing a dangerous pursuit to an end without it causing some innocent person to get killed. The sad part is that I saw a different report on this where his insurance refused to pay for repairs to his truck because they said it was an intentional crash. I wish I could learn more about this, and if he is able to get his rig repaired!

@Bella Yeah, but it cost a lot to maintain. The tractor especially. But it looks like it wasn't much damage and hopefully insurance will cover it. But unlikely. This is how the conversation with insurance will likely go: "Oh you were a hero!? Stopped a violent criminal from potentially injuring other drivers or pedestrians and put an end to a callous police chase?! Yeahhh thats not covered under your insurance policy sooooryyy" lol
