1. I love the abbreviated theme song for An Even Closer Look. 2. I feel like we Americans deserve what we get here. We as a people have to be some kind of stupid to vote in politicians who are so clearly unqualified for anything other than grasping for power and taking away the rights of anyone who disagrees with their views. This is not even insidious; it is embarrassingly obvious. Plus, listen to any Republican speak who isn't Liz Cheney or Adam Kinzinger. They sound like an 8 year old making up a lie on the spot after getting caught doing something wrong. I have been an optimist all my life, including the belief that people are fundamentally good. That is being sorely tested since 2016.

My idea is to have politicians be LICENSED. They should be licensed and tested and have to take continuing education credits (including ethics training) like the rest of the professionals that impact our lives, i.e., real estate agents, insurance agents, financial advisors, cosmetologists, nurses, doctors, therapists, etc. EVEN A NAIL TECH HAS MORE TRAINING IN HIS/HER FIELD than a politician.

to be honest he was probably standing on the rock the station owners keep a spare set of keys under to open the gas pumps, and a lot of locals know this and get free gas. rhus the reason gas is so expensive there. personally i wouldn't put it past him to have a friend at the station put that price up(it was for diesel fuel) and the keys to the pumps were probably still under the rock our lilliputian wanna be media quack from nj was standing on...

I voted weeks ago, by mail, as all Oregonians do. I love the ballot tracker that tells us once our ballot arrives at a polling station to be counted and then again once it is accepted (or not). So efficient! We have so little issues it's like 0.00003% of votes that have problems but they stay on top of it. Love Oregon.

Democracy was frowned upon by the American and French elites (as shown in the Federalist Papers), so, instead of adopting Athenian democracy, they chose Roman Republicanism. Democracy never involved elections. As for inflation, there's no reason to think that it's Biden's fault, if that's what you imply. There are plenty of other factors, like the pandemic and gas price gouging.

Since we've become more democratic over time, it's fair to say we are a democratic constitutional republic as that we do meet that definition, even if the democracy part needs... a HELL of a lot of work.

Oz is "observing gas prices", LOL. Because that's all he can do anyway. The government only controls the tax on gas, not the price of a commodity in demand. And they don't have gasoline or milk in the consumer price index, hence the government ignoring inflation where it matters - in Social Security payments. No rep or senator is in control of crime (they aren't in law enforcement) or inflation (except via the prime interest rate and government spending rate) - so DON'T LISTEN WHEN ANY POLITICIAN SAYS CRIME OR ECONOMY IS FIXED BY THEM, IT IS NOT.
